Chapter Nineteen: The Rescue

My head feels like it's been broken into a thousand pieces. My body feels like I was set on fire then left in the sun to burn.

I try to turn but my hands are tied to a chain. I have no strength to pull it and the room is so dark and the air heavy. Memories come crashing down on me like a hurricane. I have no tears left to cry and no strength left to fight.

When Adrian finds out what I did, he will kill me in the worst way possible so I might as well just die here to save him the trouble.

"Is the princess awake?" a familiar voice wakes me.

I slowly try to flutter my eyes open but struggle as whatever I was given is still making me dizzy and sleepy.

"Fuck you!" I spit angrily. "Just shoot me already. What a coward!" I scream with all the energy left in me.

She laughs, her sound echoing in what now seems like an empty garage. Her voice is bitter and cold when she speaks. "You see, I know what you did. And you know it too. Right Detective?"
