# Kaira's POV

Just as he peeked out, his eyes met mine. He blinked twice, then slipped back inside, shutting the door carefully behind him, like a child caught red-handed and retreating in quiet guilt.

Camille and Jason’s gaze flickered back to me.

My eyes stayed fixed on his door, my breath held without meaning to.

Camille tapped my shoulder lightly to pull me back.

"Hey," she whispered.

I exhaled a long sigh of relief and finally turned away from his room.

"What just happened between you two?" Camille asked, curiously.

"What did you do to him? He looks like a scaredy-cat, like he’s afraid of you…"

Jason cut in. "As a man, and from what I noticed, that isn’t fear. That’s a shame."

He paused, studying my face. "Something happened between him and Kaira, something she has decided not to tell us."

"What… what do you mean?" My attempt to defend myself fell apart as my voice came out thin and flustered.

"How do you know she wouldn’t tell us? We haven’t even reached that part yet, right,
