I wait for a minute or two for someone to open the door. Usually, I would have done it, but I didn’t really know where to go, and a part of me was scared of what was out there.
I move towards the door and grab the handle. Just as I was about to open the door, it swings open from the outside.
I peek outside to see that it was Gabrielle who opened the door. I take his hand that he offered and climb out of the car. Getting out of the car with heels on was really a pain. I let go of his hand as soon as I am standing.
“Thank you,” I reply, giving him a smile. He checks me out openly, not even trying to look subtle in any way. I pretend that I don’t notice it. I give him a once over, sneakily from the corner of my eye.

Gabrielle has been talking to this group of people for so long now. Not even ten minutes into the conversation, and I found myself zoning out.
