TIP-TOEING, Dione can’t still reach the curtain bar holder. When suddenly, she felt someone’s hard chest on her back and helped her put the curtain in its holder.
“Let me put it.” It was Jax. After he put it, Dione just got the strength to look back. She was embarrassed earlier because it looks like he is enclosing her in its body.
“T-thanks,” Dione sincerely said, can’t look into Jax’s eyes. She doesn’t know why, but his stares to her feels like it burns her. She’s feeling weird just by looking into his eyes.
Jax just nodded at her and left her to take care of what he was doing, helping them put their things in their new house. The home’s exterior is a combination of windows, painted board, and mirror-polished stainless steel. It’s spacious even with the four of them, excluding Baron and Jax.
Only the noise of Dione’s two siblings makes noise inside the house. They are busy with the placement of their belongings, as well as cleaning. Dione looked at the five boxes on her side. Those were her belongings that she would take to her new room.
Baron had shown her earlier where her room would be in the house, and it was bigger than her previous room.
“Mom, I’m going to take these things to my room,” she said goodbye to her mother who was dressing her younger sister who was full of sweat because of playing.
“Oh, okay, can you do that? If possible, ask Jax for help, oh,” Dione frowned when she heard Jax’s name. That’s why she decided to put her belongings in the room so that she could get out of there. Because she couldn’t seem to breathe if she was there, she couldn’t understand. Maybe it’s because they’re tired of organizing things.
“N-no, it’s okay—” Dione stopped when she saw Jax take the two boxes containing her belongings and start carrying them to her room.
“Very kind boy,” she heard her mother say. Dione just sighed and took a box and loaded it and follow Jax.
There were five bedrooms in Baron’s house, but only four were occupied. Her mother and Baron will sleep in the same room, as well as her two siblings. And one for her. She just assumed that Jax occupies the other one. All she knew was that Baron has a son, but she didn’t see him around, so she thought his son was not here.
Dione stopped walking when Jax stopped as well. He stood beside the closed door. He then tilted its head to see her. Dione gasped a little when their eyes met, but also wondered why he was just looking at her and not opening the door.
“H-huh? Why?” Dione asked.
“I don’t want to open your door first, it’s your private place. I thought that it might offend you,” Jax explained.
Dione blinked a couple of times as if she really heard it right. Suddenly she was embarrassed because she seemed to be just staring at the man. He might have thought something about her.
“A-ah, is that so. I’m fine,” she replied to the man. But she also turned the doorknob and entered the room first.
The bedroom is the epitome of warmth, thanks to the chocolate brown walls and fall foliage-inspired bedding. There’s a one large-scale piece of artwork above the bed. And a mushroom-style table lamp beside the bed.
“Just put it there, Jax,” Dione said after she laid the box she was carrying on the floor. Jax gently laid the box on the floor, one by one. He nodded at Dione and was about to come out when the woman called him.
“A-ah, Jax, thank you,” she thanked him. Jax turned to look at her and nodded at Dione again.
“I’ll take the remaining two boxes here,” he said, and walked out. Dione could do nothing but let Jax take the rest of her belongings.
Dione came over to her bed and touched it to make sure it wasn’t dusty, and Baron seemed to have cleaned the whole room because the surroundings and the bed were clean. She took off her shoes and jumped on the bed.
“Ah, so soft,” Dione grunted when she felt the soft mattress on her back. She spread her arms on the bed and let herself relax for a moment. It was only then that she felt the tiredness from traveling for many hours and arranging belongings. That’s why she didn’t realize that she had fallen asleep.
And so, when Jax entered the room again, he just found Dione sleeping. She was sound asleep, so he didn’t bother to wake her up. He slowly laid the two boxes he was carrying on the floor.
He didn’t even come out right after he put them down. Instead, he stares at Dione and clutches his chest where his heart is located. It is as if his ribs are going to break soon because of how wild his heart’s beating. He didn’t know if it was just a coincidence that this was happening when he was facing the woman. But he just thinks that it’s because of his sickness which he have since he was young. So he insists on ignoring the thought that it’s because of Dione on why his heart is acting differently.
He decided to go out after a few minutes, and he thought of going up to his room as well. After all, they are also done arranging things. And his master will call him if he tells him to.
When he reached his room at the far end, he immediately approached his side table and took a tablet of medicine from its plastic box. He took a pill and drank it without water.
The person who adopted him has given him that medicine since he was adopted. The man who adopted him is a scientist, so his life is not too difficult. As a thank you, he worked for his son, Baron, to help him with anything.
He lay down on his bed and remained staring at the ceiling for several minutes before falling asleep.
DIONE awoke to her siblings arguing on her bed as if she were not sleeping. She covered her face with a pillow because she was still drowsy, but her siblings were really trying to be patient with her. They made her a pillow punching bag; they slapped the pillows they’re carrying. So she had no choice but to get up. “Hey! Can’t you see? The person is still asleep,” she said angrily to her siblings. “It’s okay, sis. You are not a person, anyway, you’re Pennywise,” replied by her mischievous brother, Danny. Dione’s two eyebrows met at what she heard, and she immediately took a pillow and slapped it on her brother as he got off the bed. “Pennywise! Monster!” her brother continues to tease her. He just stop when she acts as if she’s going to throw a pillow at him, he ran outside so quick. “That brat,” Dione muttered, completely awake. “Sis, mom said that we’re going to have breakfast now. That’s why she let us woke you up,” said by her younger sist
NO one initiated to start a conversation between Dione and Jax. Dione’s eyes were just focused outside the window, as if looking at the trees they were passing. But the truth is that her mind is flying to the man next to her. She leans to the window, slightly distancing herself from Jax. This was because she felt strange when she touched the man’s arm. It was as if there’s a sudden spark inside her. Or it may seem that something is slowly burning inside her. “What major are you taking?” Dione slightly jumped from her seat when Jax suddenly spoke. She looked at him. The man was looking at the road, so she was free to look at its face. “Bachelor of Science in Anthrozoology, I’m going to be a 3rd year college this year,” she replied while staring at the man. She was confident that his eyes are just fix on the road. But she silently gasps when the young man’s eyes fell on her. She withdrew her gaze from him, and she was the one looking in front now. “Ah,
DIONE was left standing at the entrance of the university building. Jax went inside and said he would take something from the locker. He suggested to her to come with him, but she refused and said she would just wait for him. She thought Jax might last even longer if she came along. As she stood there, many people were going in and out, entering the university building. Some would stare at her, perhaps wondering who’s the unfamiliar face at the university is. But no one tried to approach her and ask a question. But just moments later, a group of men were coming out of the building, Dione thought they were varsity players because of the jerseys they were wearing and they were sweaty. Dione stepped aside so that the group could pass smoothly. But it distracted her when she heard a whistle from her side. And she saw the men were now paying attention to her. They smiled at her, but Dione didn’t like the kind of smile they had. The man in the middle approa
DIONE and Jax are currently on their way back to their house. No one has spoken to the both of them since they left the university. Jax got those who harassed Dione arrested, who were immediately attended by two police officers. Dione was interviewed for a while about what happened and they left. From time to time, Dione looks at Jax who is just seriously driving. She saw how angry it had been earlier. If she hadn’t let him, she can’t imagine on what it would have done to Dylan. She can’t forget on how Jax looked like when he went inside and saw her with her torn shirts. She saw how its vision darkened. He’s like a beast that can’t be taken down even with the 5 of those men attack him all at once.Dione cleared her throat before she decided to speak, “A-ah, thank you again, Jax.” She can’t thank him enough for what he has done for her. She doesn’t know what to do to return the favor, so she’s
DIONE just stared at her ceiling as she lay on her bed. It was a rough day for her and Jax. She had already told her mother what had happened earlier at the university. It enraged her mother upon knowing what happened. The same goes for Baron, who immediately called the university and had no hesitation in putting Dylan on block list and his four other university associates. Dione didn’t want to escalate the mess, but Baron insisted on doing it. He said that they might come back to her if they can still return to the university. So Dione did not appeal and let Baron be supported by her mother. And now she was inside her room. Just after she took a bath, she passed by Jax’s room before she entered her room. But when she saw that Jax was still asleep, she didn’t bother to disturb it. She will just talk to him tomorrow. Dione took a pillow next to her and lay on her side and hugged it. She’s now facing the window in her room, where the moon’s lig
THE morning came, Dione decided to go into the woods. And she thought of taking Jax with her so that her mother wouldn’t have to worry. After taking a bath, she went to the living room and looked for her mom. But it wasn’t there, it was at the back of the house, Dione’s siblings said. So she went there. Through the pathway beside the koi pond, Dione went to the back of the house. She immediately spotted a modest structure. At first glance, she thought it was a guest house, but that would be weird having one in the backyard. She noticed there were two solar panels on the roof. She was curious as to what structure is that for. So she immediately approached it. The door was open, so she immediately saw her mother inside with Baron. Taking care of the plants inside, Dione realizes that the structure is a greenhouse. “Mom!” Dione called her mom. Both her mother and Baron turned around and let her in. So she entered immediately. “Wo
HOURS EARLIER… Jax found himself in a familiar room. It’s his room in Conrad Hemmings’ cabin deep in the forest; the scientist who adopted him. Jax got up and left his room. Opposite his room was the scientist’s room and next to him was Peter’s. There is another room at the end, which is a spare room if Baron visits there. Jax knocked on Conrad’s room, but no one answered. He just goes straight to the balcony, where you can pass when going down to the 1st floor. He slides the glass sliding door and goes to the balcony. In front of him are large and tall trees, there’s a pathway for cars going back to the main road. If Baron’s house is in the last area of Conrad’s private property, so is this cabin. It’s on the other side, in the back. Jax looked up at the sky when he suddenly remembered Dione. He hurried out the glass sliding door and went down the stairs. When he got in the living room, he still didn’t see a sign of Conrad
DIONE and Jax went home together. Dianne and Baron, who are overly concerned for Dione, immediately greeted them.“Oh my god, Dione! Thank god, you’re okay! Why do you still go there in the forest even if you are alone?! What if you got lost or if you were bitten by wild animals there?” Dione’s mother preached to her one after another. This makes she did not want to tell her what had happened to her. But she wants to say it, she wants to tell them on how Jax saved her… again.“A-ah, I was almost bitten…” Dione said and gave a little laugh. Her mother’s eyes widened, and it immediately looked at her entire body for any torn parts or bite marks.“Mom! I’m alright! Thanks to Jax, he saved me!” Dione said proudly. She seemed to be even happier that she was about to be eaten by a wolf.“See?! What if Jax didn’t find you right away? What would’ve had hap
