Chapter 21
A sense of dread had completely taken over my being as I cradled Luna Ashly in my arms. I felt almost cold, focused on the task at hand. I glanced down and shuddered at the bare flesh of her neck, her exposed muscles throbbing as blood attempted to filter through her vessel. I looked back ahead of me, carefully stepping back through the forest begging for someone, anyone to be outside when I arrived. The Goddess must have heard my prayers as soon as I stood foreword from the tree line screams of fear and sadness echoed out.

I felt my own hot tears sit at the corners of my eyes as many people stared at me and the Luna. I continued walking forward screaming for someone to help, Alpha Clide rushed forward pushing people out of his way to approach us. His eyes were already full of dread, grief, and anger.

I stood in front of the door with Domini on my right and Dimitri on my left stealing a calming breath trying to soothe my beating heart. It was a surreal experience walking around the pack grounds, every person that saw me would go wide-eyed and stare or ignore me. I felt a sense of shame as I recognized some people’s faces from the crowd that had surrounded Luna Ashly and myself. I had failed to protect her, and they knew it as much as I did.
