Chapter 94

The Council chamber was built to make people feel small.

That was the point of it. High ceilings. Stone walls. A raised panel platform that required everyone below it to look up. The lighting was cold and institutional and fell on the floor in front of the panel table in a way that left the people standing in it slightly exposed. Slightly lit from above like specimens.

Whoever designed this room had understood power.

Matthias stood in the lit space like he hadn't noticed any of it.

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    Cassius and the father

Chapter 175Marcus came to the estate on a Thursday morning with a folder and an expression that said he'd been awake for most of the night and found it worthwhile. He sat across from me and Matthias in the library and put the folder on the table and looked at it for a moment before he spoke."Dorian has been talking to me," he said. "For three weeks. Every evening. Going through everything he knows about Cassius's legal architecture." He held my gaze. "I've been taking it apart piece by piece and passing it to Caine's legal team.""You didn't tell me," I said."No," he said. "Because I wanted to be certain it was going to work before I told you it was happening." He opened the folder. "I'm certain now."The vulnerability was specific.Dorian had known about it for years, had known it was there somewhere in the architecture, had suspected it from the structure of the original European Territorial Court filings, but hadn't been able to locate it precisely without access to documents he

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    Her first public address

Chapter 174The chamber was full. Not the small committee room. The main Council chamber, with its high ceilings and cold light and the raised platform that had been built to make people feel small. Every seat in the gallery was occupied. The formal panel table had seven members. Along the walls, standing room only, territorial representatives, legal advisors, press from three Lycan publications, and ordinary pack members who had requested gallery access and been granted it because Caine had decided, quietly, that this particular address should be witnessed.I stood at the speaker's position and looked at all of it.I was not afraid. That surprised me slightly. I had expected fear, the specific performance anxiety of someone about to speak in front of a room full of people who held opinions about her before she opened her mouth. Instead there was something steadier. The particular calm that arrived when you had decided exactly what you were going to say and why and understood that you

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    The Research fallout

Chapter 173The requests started arriving in the third week. Not all at once. Gradually, the way consequences arrived when something large had been set in motion, first a trickle, then a steady flow, then something that required its own system of management.Three territories in the eastern region had formally cited my mother's research in challenges to their own Council-imposed resource allocations. Two had produced results, one positive, one volatile enough that Kane had dispatched a coalition representative to manage the response before it became something worse. The third was still in process, which Dante's briefing described as developing with uncertain trajectory, which was his careful language for, could go either way and nobody knows yet.Kane called every other day.Matthias had been asked to advise on territory disputes he had no direct connection to because his name was now attached to the coalition that had released the research and people in complicated situations wanted

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    Elena's Chapter

Chapter 172The call from her mother came on a Wednesday evening.Elena was in her campus apartment, the one she'd moved into after Aria left the dorms, eating leftover pasta and reading something for her seminar that she wasn't fully absorbing. Her phone lit up with her mother's name and she looked at it for a moment before answering."Mom," she said."Elena." Her mother's voice had that particular quality, warm on the surface, structured underneath, the voice of a woman who had been thinking about what she was going to say before she said it. "Your father and I have been talking."Elena set down her fork."About?" she said."About the situation. Everything that's been in the Council news. The founding bloodline, the fractures, the Ashford family." A pause. "Your name has been connected to some of it. People are asking questions about your associations.""My associations," Elena said."Elena." Gently. "You know what I mean."She did know what her mother meant. The Gamma family networ

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    What's left of Caden

Chapter 171The programme met on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.A community rebuilding initiative in the southern district, one of the territories that had been hit hardest by the Council's old resource allocation policies, the ones that Kane's coalition was now working to reverse. Old buildings being renovated. Infrastructure being repaired. Work that required bodies and patience and the willingness to show up at seven in the morning and do something unglamorous until it was done.Caden had found it through a contact at the construction firm. He'd shown up the first Tuesday not knowing what to expect and had been handed a set of overalls and a task list and been pointed toward a building that needed its entire ground floor replastered. He hadn't replastered anything in his life. The man who showed him how was sixty-three years old, missing two fingers on his left hand from an industrial accident, and had absolutely no interest in who Caden's father was. That had been, Caden would thi

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    One year

Chapter 170The light came through the upper west window at a different angle in autumn.I'd learned the estate's light across all its seasons now, the sharp winter mornings when it came low and cold and made the frost on the grounds look like something deliberate, the long summer evenings when it stretched across the library floor in warm flat lines, the spring quality that made everything look provisional and new.Autumn light was different from all of them.Fuller somehow. More certain. Like it had somewhere to be and understood the value of arriving properly.I stood at the window with my coffee and watched the grounds come into the morning.Nearly a year.I had to hold that carefully to make it feel real. Not eleven months of continuous experience, that wasn't how this life had worked. Eleven months of two simultaneous timelines, the one I was living and the one I'd already lived and died in, running alongside each other constantly, informing everything. But still. Nearly a year

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    Marcus

Chapter 144Marcus came to the estate on a Friday afternoon. He'd come once before, when he gave Dante the address for Ferris, but that visit had been operational, quick, urgent. This one was different. He arrived with no folder of new evidence, no piece of the picture left to deliver. Just himself

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    Cassius retreats

Chapter 142Dante's call came in at six in the morning."He's moving," he said. "Private airfield, eastern edge of the county. Two vehicles left the eastern district safehouse twenty minutes ago. Heading there directly."I was already reaching for Matthias's shoulder. He was awake before I finished

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    The elders fall

Chapter 141The submission went through Caine's committee on Thursday.Dante had spent the week compiling it into a single coherent document, Selene's debrief, Priya's testimony, the financial chain from Marsh's contact, Rowe's contract architecture, the historical documentation Marcus had given me

  • Reborn To Seduce My Bully's Alpha Father    Caden's Reckoning

Chapter 139The room they put him in wasn't a cell. That was the first thing Caden noticed when the door closed behind him and he was left alone with it. Not a cell. A room. Plain, functional, a bed and a chair and a window that was locked but present. Like someone had made a deliberate choice abou
