For the briefest of moments, I caught it, the fleeting trace of irritation crossing his eyes before he quickly concealed it behind the deceitful smile he had so carefully perfected just for me.

“Melody,” he said, his voice soft, his eyes curving into the perfect crescent of love. “What are you doing here?”

"I missed you," I said it with a playful, bold tone, the kind I'd always maintained. Before giving Harry a chance to withdraw, I stepped closer, wrapped my arms around his neck, and pulled him tightly in a hug. Then, acting as if I was taking a deep breath, inhaling the fragrance, which, before, I loved so much, I let out a sigh of relief.

“You must have gotten busy and forgotten about me.”

His chuckle hummed softly against my ear. "How could I?" he whispered. "From sunrise to sunset, you're the only one on my mind."

The next morning, I checked my messages for perhaps something—anything from Alpha Don. Since that call, it had been complete silence. No follow-up, no update. Just. nothing.Anxiety writhed in my chest, and I started to wonder if I'd made a mistake and chosen the wrong ally.I pulled out my phone and, on impulse, typed a quick message."Any news?"I barely had time to put the phone down when it started ringing again: an incoming video call.It was Don.I accepted the call without giving it much thought. As my very own reflection sprang to life on the screen, I groaned internally. I looked like I'd just rolled out of bed because I was still in my pajamas, and my hair was nothing but an untamed mess. The sight sent Don bursting into laughter. My face flushed with embarrassment, and I said defensively with my arms across my chest, “Don’t laugh at me.”He grinned. “Sorry, sorry. I wasn’t expecting such a. natural look to be greeting me.“Well, wasn’t expecting a video call! If I’d known,

“Mary, my engagement ring is missing.”Mary, who had been arranging my clothes in the closet with such efficiency, was caught mid-action. She turned around with her mouth open."Miss, this is serious! Why are you so calm?"This was also justified on her part. Any other person would be in a state of panic at that point. But I wasn’t. What I experienced was actually an element of detachment and curiosity on my part as well. This was the second time I had been reminded of my past life.Back in the day, I had been so angry at Jay for embarrassing me in the engagement ceremony that I decided to take the ring that he had given me and toss it into the cliff. I even lied that the ring was stolen by Samantha.Yet, this time felt different.I had kept the ring safely among the jewelry, and I had seen it a few hours ago when I started getting ready to go out. But now the ring is missing. The only person that has been in my room since then is Samantha.I almost laughed at the humor in that, but t

  • Reborn of the Betrayed Luna   Chapter 19: Don's POV

Don’s POVMelody Madison.“Either she is stupid or brilliant,” my wolf, Sid, grumbled inside my brain. ‘I find myself looking forward to discovering the answer.’”She was the most beautiful woman that I had yet encountered.‘Don’t get any funny ideas about another man’s fiancée,’ Sid warned, his voice now with a sharper edge. Melody Madison was a familiar name, though nobody knew what she looked like. Her father had raised her in secret, like something precious to him that was too dangerous to show the world. But she was not something to be ignored. His father was, of course, the Zeta Wolf, a war hero whose military prowess brought victory to their kingdoms during the rogue wars. "A cold-blooded killer," they said of him. Carved down whatever dared get in their way of victory. After that battle, when his partner died, he just seemed to disappear from public view, completely cutting himself out. However, he surfaced again, taking a new partner, until finally, rumors began to circulate.

Jay Merlot - POV"I loved Melody Madison as much as I hated her."She was everything to me. The mention of herAt times, I felt like I would put the whole world at her feet if she only gave me a hint in that regard. But most times? Most times, I wished she didn’t exist. But she still did. However, because she did, my world was being kept intact by the thin threads of her love—and today, these threads were stretched thinner than ever before."You, are you going to take another woman as your mate?"But the shaking voice brought my attention back from my thoughts and focused it on the omega standing before me. Samantha. Her face appeared pale, with a pitiful expression on it. Seeing her, my actual mate, triggered a strange reaction within me. But then, something else also churned inside of me. Perhaps it was pity or guilt. I was angry, yes. But I was also sad. And that was worse than the way I felt whenever I looked at Melody."I… I prayed to the Moon Goddess to find you. And now..." Her

Chapter 17: The Armor that Jay FearedThe following day, the moment Jay stepped out of my room, I hurriedly rushed to have a bath, washing away any doubts that had been within me. I dried off quickly and immediately proceeded to my closet. This was not like the previous days. Today was the day I was going to reclaim what was rightfully mine. Today was the day I was supposed to join the training.I pushed aside the soft, delicate dresses that Jay liked me to wear, and I reached for the boldest, most commanding attire that I had, a warrior set that was made especially for a Luna—it was sleek, it was imposing, and it was made for battle. The dark material, a combination of leather and light armor plating, was embroidered with intricate designs that featured gold and silver, all signs of power and dominance. The attire fit me to perfection, hugging my physique not to highlight its beauty but its power, which was something that Jay hated. He hated this look that I chose to wear. With every
