Sydney's POVMrs. Grayson hugged me again, this time, refusing to let go. At this point, I wasn't sure if she was hugging me for everything I had been through or if she needed the hug herself and just couldn't ask for one. Either way, I enjoyed her embrace, feeling the warmth of a mother.Since my new life in the Moon Rise pack started, I did my best not to think of my mother. Deep in my heart, I knew that without her maybe I wouldn't be here today. But it didn't change what she did to me. Yes, she saved me from being homeless by sending me to a sister of hers who I never knew existed. But that wasn't the problem. Why didn't she show me at least a glimpse of this love earlier on? What was so special about this loving gesture that she had to wait until we were never going to see each other again to show it?Anytime I watched Alexander and his mother, my heart warmed. They argued a lot — two well-opinionated people — but those two never failed to show how much they cherished each other.
Alexander's POVWatching those kids leave wasn't the best time for me. They were actually fun and didn't give me issues.'That's funny. I thought you didn't like kids,' my wolf teased.I liked kids but the ones I've met were just too much for me to handle. How would something so small be so fast and destructive too?It was still early outside, a perfect time for me to go for a run. When last did I even run? Since we moved to this pack, I hadn't been as organized as I'd liked.Oh shit. I hadn't called Amarok in ages.I dialed his number immediately."Your Highness," came my beta's voice from the other end."Amarok, how's the pack doing?" I went straight to the point."Everything is going well, Your Highness. The renovations of the palace will soon be finished.""Good. What about the shelter house for the omegas? Is it ready?""Not yet, sir. But it'll be finished in about two days," he replied.Strange. They usually worked faster than this. A thought came to me to ask for pictures of wha
Alexander's POVHis mother's face appeared just as I ran to him."Oh my God! What happened to him?" she screamed as she scooped him up and made her way to the living room."I don't know" I muttered, following behind her.Just as his back touched the couch, Asher woke up. His eyes were reddish and he looked very sick. What could have gone wrong? He was fine throughout the time we spent together. Or was it just me who didn't notice anything? His skin was fiery hot when I touched it. "He's having an allergic reaction," his mother said rapidly. Please get me some water."I ran to get the glass of water as if my life depended on it. His temperature soon went down a bit and he closed his eyes, snoring peacefully. Looking up in relief, I wanted to ask her how she was able to identify the problem so fast when I saw the most horrendous expression on her face."What did you do to him?" she asked me from nowhere."What are you talking about? I found him just like you did," I explained.Hugging hi
Alexander's POVThe night was very quiet and it was comforting that mother was with me, although I didn't want to agree with her words. I was standing there trying to find the truth in it and I was finding truth. I had noticed that any little thing about Sydney concerned me whether it was her presence or her actions, it always bothered me.It was becoming more problematic because I was getting emotional with her boys. I loved Nick and Asher a lot and the thought of doing something to them was disgusting."Did you hear me you stubborn boy? It's very clear that you are in love with her." She rang again in my ears again, making sure to rub it in like salt in my wounds. "I don't know what it is you are doing and I don't understand why you are torturing yourself this way." Said the person who was so worried about me a few minutes ago. The way her moods switched was be oming concerning."Mom, I don't love Sydney…" I was barely sober enough to understand where I was but I understood the grav
Sydney's POVRelief washed over me when Asher finally took the medication I went out yesterday evening to buy. He seemed well enough and I wanted to take him home before resuming work for the day.It was just me and those two left in my room. Alexander and his mother wanted to give me some time to rest."Hey boys, you're going home today," I made known."But why?" Nick was the first to ask.Quirking my brow, I answered, "Because both of you need to rest and I won't be able to come up here often to check up on you."Asher shook his head, which both surprised and slightly annoyed me. Just a few minutes ago, he was making enough noise to wake the dead. He'd never behaved like that before. Yet, all he could do was shake his head when I needed him to talk? What kind of kid was this, please?"Mommy, I can look after Asher," Nick proclaimed. His face was so cute. This would be funny if I wasn't boiling already."No. You should go home. Aunt Rosa will take care of you." Both of them wrinkled t
Sydney's POVAfter hours of being with him, I didn't want to leave. But the night was progressing and I didn't need to be told that he needed sleep. We talked about nothing most of the time but even in the silence, it was nice to be with him."You should go to bed," I suggested, getting up. He pulled my thigh, bringing me close again. For the past two hours, this had been happening. It was nice to be with him but at times I felt that everything was moving too fast, the way it had been that first day we met. His head dipped and I only managed to turn my cheek before he could get my lips."What…" he started."You need to rest. You'll have quite a say at work tomorrow," I reminded him. My lips said another thing from what my heart felt. If I wasn't someone who stuck to my word, my clothes would have been off by now.To avoid making any mistakes I may or may not regret later, I let him go and bade him a goodnight. Settling into my bed when I returned to my room, my eyes closed and I drifte
Sydney's POVAlexander and his mother had been the best to me. They treated me like I was part of their family, which was a bit odd. A billionaire royal family normally would have nothing to do with me. Still, they doted on me like an egg although it was annoying at times. I recovered soon thanks to the rest that was forced on me.Although we didn't talk about it, I knew I was going to keep staying here until they spoke about it. To be honest, I enjoyed staying here. I loved my aunt but knowing how much damage she could do to me in one day by kicking us out if she wanted to was always a pain. Aunt Rosa wasn't always vocal but I grew to dictate her actions. They weren't always pleasant.'These ones can kick you out any day too,' Reika kept reminding me. At times I wondered if she was on Alexander's side or not.Nick and Asher were so quick to make this place their new home that I worried that there was something I needed to know. Reika often tried to convince me that they just liked the
Sydney's POV"…and we went on those horsy rides too. They're really pretty." Nick couldn't stop talking. My heart warmed as he recounted our day but that was when he started. Now, I just wanted him to stop.At the dinner table, Mrs. Grayson heard everything about the day at the park from the twins — especially Nick. He was cute as he rambled on about the rides, the food and everything else. But he had a projective voice which made it difficult to block sounds out. My ears rang from hearing too much."And then we came home," the little boy and his brother giggled."Awww, that was quite an adventure," Mrs. Grayson cooed. What was adventurous about a child's continuous retelling of a story that should have ended twenty minutes ago? Finally, I could enjoy my tacos in peace.Alexander and I were seated opposite each other on either side of the table. He had Asher with him while Nick stayed by my side."You two are awfully quiet," his mother observed before I could barely get another peacefu
