MY SISTER CAME FOR ME

“I don’t know”, the attacker whispered with tremor in his voice.

He pressed his neck harder, “If you lie to me again, you’ll regret”.

The attacker managed to shake his head slowly and he answered quickly, “I swear, I don’t know”.

“It’s only the royal council that knew the mission”, the attacker added.

Magnus released his neck immediately, and he asked “what was the mission?”

The attacker’s gaze was fixed on the floor, while he kept on coughing, before he started talking “to find the silver wolf, take her back to the royal palace alive and she if she objected, everyone protecting her should be killed”.

Magnus expression became very wild and terrifying, then he probed “and who told you that she’s the silver wolf?”

The man paused to clear his throat before he continued, “a woman but I didn’t see her face”.

“What woman? Describe how she looked”, Magnus snapped.

The man closed his eyes and started explaining, “the woman wore a black cloak, her voice was very soft, and she there was a silver wolf tattoo on her wrist”.

Magnus froze instantly, because he remembered his ex ally, Kaida Veilborne had the same symbol on the same spot the man mentioned.

He grimaced and clenched his jaw tightly, “are you really sure of what you just said?”

“Yes, and she added that the black Alpha would never know whom he married”, the man responded.

Magnus exhale and he instructed, “take him away from my sight”.

The guards quickly hurried to him and dragged him away from Magnus presence. Magnus stood still, unable to even move and his ex ally’s name kept on lingering on his mind, because he hadn’t heard that name for years.

Memories of her like, “how she stood by his side fighting during the crimson ridge war, how she has saved his life multiple times, and how she tried to claim him afterwards, but he rejected her” kept running through his mind ceaselessly.

Deep inside him, he knew she hadn’t forgiven him for rejecting her, but he was still pondering on why he wants Lyra. Magnus turned towards the exit door and walked out of the dungeon.

I sat in the chambers quietly watching how Elder Cedric examined the silver mark on my wrist.

“In my whole years of existence, I’ve never seen anything like this” Cedric muttered softly.

“So, does that mean that I’m dangerous?” I asked curiously.

Cedric adjusted his glasses to look at me very well, before he responded “no”.

“What am I then?” I snapped.

Cedric exhaled deeply, before he started to speak, “that’s the exact question we need to answer now”.

He opened an ancient book, the pages were yellow and fragile. He flipped several pages until he found a drawing, I shifted closer and my eyes widened.

The drawing showed a woman with silver eyes standing beside an enormous wolf, and there were ancient writings under it.

Cedric read the write up slowly, “the silver wolf queen that was born under the blood moon is hidden amongst the weak, but her wolf will remain asleep until the kingdom calls for her”.

My eyes widened and my eyes hovered around the drawing, then I asked beneath my breath, “that write up is referring to me, isn’t it?”

Cedric lowered his head slightly towards the floor without saying a word. He raised his head again to speak, but before he could open his mouth to utter a word, Magnus walked in.

His eyes landed on the ancient book the moment he walked in, and elder Cedric rushed to close it before he came close.

“Why did you have to close it?” Magnus inquired, but Cedric didn’t respond.

“Open it!” Magnus insisted.

Cedric cleared his throat before he started speaking, “uhm… my Alpha”.

“I said you should open it”, Magnus voice became hardened.

Elder Cedric opened it slowly and Magnus eyes scanned through the ancient writing beneath the drawing.

The expression on his face darkened instantly, and I sat still studying him carefully.

“Do you know what that mean?” I asked him and he turned to look at me for a few seconds without responding.

Magnus cleared his throat before he responded in a calm and soft tone, “it means that someone had been concealing the truth from you”.

“Who is that?” I snapped but no one responded to me.

I reflected on what he said before a thought ran through my mind and I whispered, “is it my family?”

The silence in the room was enough to tell me the truth, my heart pounded very fast that I thought they could hear it, and my eyes were filled with tears.

“They knew they truth and they treated me anyhow? They even watched other people treat me like a discarded human without uttering any word”, I whispered.

Magnus walked towards me, patting my shoulder and said “calm down Lyra, I don’t know the real truth yet, but I’ll find out subsequently”.

Tears ran through my cheeks slowly and I wiped it with my soft palm. “I want to know the truth”, I snapped lividly.

“You deserve the truth and you’ll get it”, Magnus mumbled.

Suddenly, the fortress bell rang thrice and Karl rushed towards the entrance breathing heavily, then he bowed, “my Alpha, we found someone outside the eastern wall”.

“Who?” Magnus eyes widened.

The commander turned to look at me and his face became so pale.

“A woman”, the commander muttered reluctantly.

My heart beat pounded very fast, and my knees became so weak that I almost collapsed the moment Karl turned to look at me before he responded to Magnus.

“Is she still alive and who did she say she is?” Magnus interrogated.

The warrior’s gaze was still on me while he responded to him and it threw me off guard because I knew that something is wrong.

“She’s still alive and she said she knows lady Lyra”, the warrior muttered.

My breathe hitched instantly, and I felt a lump settling in chest, which made my chest ache severely.

“Who’s she?” I managed to ask him.

He swallowed and responded slowly, “she said her name is Seraphina Blackwood”.

Blood dried up from my body and I froze immediately. Magnus turned to look at me with, and he noticed my reactions even when I tried not to make it obvious.

“What did she say she came here for?” Magnus demanded.

Karl lowered his gaze slightly, and my heart cracked the more. “She said she has information concern the her mother”, he added.

My lips parted several times but no one slipped out of my throat, and a wave of cold suddenly brushed through my skin causing me to shiver.

“My mother?” I managed to speak.

The commander nodded slowly before he continued talking, “she also said that if you don’t give the permission for her to come inside here tonight, the royal family will destroy everyone in Blackthorne fortress before morning”.

Magnus expression became so dreadful, and my expression faltered the moment the warrior said those words.

For several years, Seraphina has been my biggest enemy, and now she showed up here with my mother’s secret?

One thing I’m certain about is the fact that I know she didn’t come here to help me, but she came because she want to get something.

“Don’t let her inside”, Magnus instructed in a calm voice that made the entire fall completely silent.

My knees began shaking tremendously the moment Magnus gave the instructions and for a few seconds, I opened my mouth to utter a word, but no sound came out.

“But she’s my sister”, I muttered with tremor in my voice.

“I’m not disputing the fact that she’s your sister”, Magnus responded.

“Then why don’t you allow her come inside?” I pressed further.

Magnus took a few steps towards the window, then he looked down at the courtyard. There were several warriors who surrounded the eastern gate, and Seraphina stood in between them dressed in a dark traveling cloak.

Seraphina folded her hands across her chest, looking unshaken and unbothered despite the fact that she was surrounded by Blackthorne warriors.

I took a few steps close to the window and the moment I sighted her, hatred slowly flowed through me, but I suddenly remembered all the memories we spent together as kids before she realized that her beauty gave her powers, before i became the discarded child of the family.

I cleared my throat instinctively before I whispered, “I really need to talk to her”.

“No, it’s not possible”, Magnus countered immediately while his gaze was still fixed outside the window.

“Why?” I frowned and my brows furrowed.

Magnus slowly turned towards me and explained, “because she didn’t come here because of you”.

My heart beat faster, and my stomach made a loud noise.

“And how do you know?” I inquired, while my eyes narrowed instinctively.
