Jasmine's Pov

I was sitting on the couch in my living room, thinking about Earnest getting married and leaving me to marry someone else.

I felt a pang of loneliness. I didn't think Earnest would ever leave me for someone else.

“I will make sure we end up together,” his word echoing in my ear.

As I sat there thinking about what to do to see that my man would not be taken by some random girl, just then the door clicked and Drake entered with a smile on his face.

I wonder why he is smiling like that. The last time I can remember, he told me about his mother being in the hospital, but then the smile was something else, not like someone taking care of his sick mother in the hospital.

"Hello, ma,“ he said, a smile escaping from his lips. He was looking so lively.

“Hi Drake, How are you doing?” I responded to his greeting.

"Ma, I'm good. I hope everything went smoothly when I was away,” he inquired. He smiled, and his smile faded as he gazed at my bandage arm. He bent down low.
