Chapter 4

POV Cassy

I hurried after Ruby and found her outside, making out with bartender. I smirked when Wolf came crashing out a minute later. He stared at the couple, dumbfounded.

"What? You didn't believe me?" I asked him and he glared. I was surprised to see his fists clench and the rage in his eyes.

"Why are you mad? She isn't your girl" I asked but he only answered with more glaring.

"I don't know what you did to make her like this but you will pay!" he promised. I looked at him in confusion.

"You think I changed Ruby? Um... no, that was you. She was broken when you ghosted her and she vowed to never let anyone treat her that badly again. She hasn't either. She is even better than I am about avoiding relationships." I explained as his face grew darker and darker.

"You are lying!" Wolf burst out but I just shrugged.

"Believe what you want but listen to me. I love that girl. She is the nicest, kindest person in the world. She's both my best friend and my sister. If you mess with her and hurt her again, I will come for you. Understand?" I threatened. He laughed then.

"Ok, New York Princess. You're so scary." he replied sarcastically. I grinned at him.

"You have no idea." I said as I turned towards Ruby who was still making out her bartender. I walked to them and tapped her on the shoulder.

"Hey, Cas. You ok?" she asked with a grin.

"I'm good but you might want to come back in, you have an admirer." I said as I nodded to Wolf who was still glaring at her. Ruby's eyes widened when she saw him. She got up and the bartender and I followed her as she walked towards Wolf.

POV Ruby

"Enjoy the show?" I asked as I neared him. I saw another flash of rage cross his face before he controlled it and smirked.

"Not really, I did appreciate the preview of what we're going to do later, though. FYI, though..." he said as he grabbed the bartenders arm.

"I don't share." he said as he got in his face. I was pissed and stepped between them.

"I'm not yours. I'm a person, not a plaything." I snapped in Wolf's face as I pushed him off my make out buddy. Wolf chuckled darkly.

"Yeah. Yeah. We'll see..." he said as he walked away. I rolled my eyes and followed Cassy back to the party. I noticed that Jackal, Hound, and Foxy left after we walked back in. I shook it off and continued to enjoy the rest of the night. Cassy and I were careful to not make out with any of the guys from school. We didn't want to start the year with drama, at least not more drama than I already had. Finally, the last guest left and we headed to bed.

Cassy and I woke up the next morning and laughed at the obvious hang overs that Scarlett and Don had. Thankfully, Cas and I had drank enough water and eaten enough that we just had a mild headache that was easily cured with a couple of painkillers.

"Can we go to The Spot? I need some greasy food to end this nightmare." Don whined and the rest of us agreed. We quickly showered and dressed. Scarlett insisted that we take her car. In the car, Cassy called our Mom's to let them know that we were going to spend the day with Scar and Don. They didn't seem to mind since they were so busy.

The Spot was busy since it was a Saturday morning, especially since it was the Saturday before the first day of school. We pulled up and it felt like everyone turned to watch us walk in. I looked at Cassy and she shrugged. I rolled my eyes back.

"The joy's of moving to a small town." I whispered to her. She smirked. Lots of people called out greetings to us and we waved back. Don led us to a smaller booth in the back. We slid in and a waitress came over to us a few moments later. After we ordered, we discussed what we wanted to spend the day doing.

"Do you girls need school stuff? Maybe we could head to the mall?" Don suggested. I nodded and Cassy grinned.

"I'll never turn down shopping." Cassy announced and Scarlett quickly agreed.

"Maybe we could catch a movie and dinner afterwards?" Scar asked. The rest of us agreed and I sent my mom a text. She replied a moment later with the typically, 'OK. Be safe. Love you'.

Our food arrived a bit later and we dug in. Just as we were finishing, Wolf and his friends all pulled up on their bikes.

"Crap!" Scarlett muttered as we spotted them. Cassy and Don looked worried too but I just shrugged.

"Don't stress." I replied with a shrug. Of course, because sometimes life just wants to crap on me, Sam and Pete pulled up and parked then too.

I shook my head as Sam and Wolf nodded to each other. They said a few words to one another and walked in the door with their friends trailing behind. I looked up at them with a smirk and they spotted us in just a second.

They both frowned and headed over.

"Come on, Ruby. Let's just pay and go." Don pulled on my sleeve as the rest of my friends got up to go.

"It's ok." I replied, calmly.

"Well, look here. The gang's all together again. How are you, Scarlett?" Wolf asked as Sam stared at me.

"I'm good. We were just finishing up. See you later." Scar answered as she went to pass him.

"So soon? We just got here." Wolf replied, sarcastically. I sighed and everyone turned to look at me.

"Don't you get tired of this pathetic act, Wolf? This tough guy façade is so played out." I said with a bored look. He glared while Sam grinned.

"Hey, Rue. What are you all up to today?" Sam asked me.

"We're just hanging out, Sam. What about you?" I asked and he shrugged.

"Same but I was hoping to go out with you tonight..." he tried. I smiled but Wolf growled.

"Sorry, Sam. I've already got plans. Thanks though." I replied, kindly. Sam looked disappointed.

"What kind of plans?" Wolf snapped. This guy was started to annoy me.

"Well, that's really none of your business, is it?" I snapped back and stood up.

"See you later, Sam!" I said and kissed his cheek just to piss Wolf off. It seemed to work as he looked like he was ready to spit daggers as I passed him. We paid and then hurried out to Scar's awaiting car.

"That was awesome, Ruby." Don gushed as we pulled away. I smiled back and settled back into the car seat as we headed to the mall.

We had a great time shopping and we all found some perfect back to school outfits. Halfway through, we stopped in the food court for lunch. I noticed a guy in a black leather jacket staring at us. His jacket had Riders of Fenrir written across the back and I realized that he was a member of  Wolf's gang. Great. I was glad when we left and he didn't follow us. We finished shopping and went back to the car.

"Let's go to a movie now and get dinner later." Cassy suggested. Don looked up the movies that were going to start soon. He, Cassy and Scarlett all wanted to see this new rom com while I wanted to see the new horror flick.

"I'll just go with you to the rom com." I relented but my heart wasn't in it.

"They both start at about the same time. Why don't you go to the horror movie and meet us after?" Scar offered.

"Is that ok with everyone?" I asked and they nodded. I smiled with relief. We made it to the movie theater a few minutes later and bought our tickets. I bought a drink and hugged my friends. Then I went to my theater and took a seat. I sat near the back and watched at the theater began to fill up.

"Is this seat taken?" a familiar voice asked and I looked up and groaned.

POV Wolf

As soon as Ruby left The Spot, I put out a text to all the Riders to be on the look out for her. I was just giving up hope when Bones called me a little after noon.

"That girl you're looking for is at the mall." he said and I stood up. I hurried to the mall and got there just in time to see Scar's car pull out. I thanked my luck and followed them at a distance. They pulled up to the movie theater and I hid in the back but watched as Ruby went to a different theatre than the others. I bought a ticket, some popcorn and hurried after her. I grinned as I spotted her sitting in the back.

"Is this seat taken?" I asked and she looked up and groaned.

"Seriously, Wolf? Just leave me alone" she snapped. I had decided earlier that I needed to change my tactics with her.

"Listen, Ruby. I'm sorry for how I acted before. I was just surprised. I wasn't expecting to see you." I began.

"Whatever" she rolled her eyes.

"Please, Ruby? Just give me another chance?" I begged.

"What a second chance? or is it a third?" she bit back. I sighed and stood there, looking down at her with big eyes. She sighed back and shook her head.

"Fine. Just be quiet and let me enjoy the movie." she relented and I grinned as I sat down. She tried to ignore me but I wasn't about to let her.

"Do you want some popcorn?" I offered and she stared at me. I rose my eyebrows at her and she took a handful.

"Thanks." she mumbled. I leaned closer to her.

"What are you doing?" she whispered as the preview began.

"I really am sorry. I didn't mean to upset you but I was frustrated when I saw you with that other guy. I was jealous." I explained, somewhat honestly. She looked in my eyes for a moment.

"Why? We haven't even spoken in years." She asked and I nodded. I leaned in even closer to whisper in her ear.

"I know. I can't explain it. I AM sorry." I whispered and she shivered. I smirked.

"Are you cold? Do you want my jacket?" I offered but she shook her head.

"No, thanks." she replied quickly. Finally the movie began and it was like we were kids again. Ruby and I were always watching horror movies together. I loved the way she still jumped when something scary happened. I was beginning to realize how much I had missed her. At the end of the movie, I shook off all the nostalgia and turned to her.

"Thanks for letting me watch that with you, Rubes. It was fun." I got up to leave and she stopped me. I grinned. Nice, this play was going to work.

"It WAS nice, Wolf. It would have been nicer if you hadn't had people following me to set it all up." she replied and walked out.

Crap.
