Fidelia woke with a violent gasp, her lungs burning as if she had truly been drowning all over again. Her heart hammered against her ribs like it wanted to escape this nightmare.

Her hands flew to her face, frantically feeling for the oxygen mask that wasn’t there. She pressed a palm to her chest, feeling the frantic heartbeat. She gulped down air desperately, trying to steady herself.

‘I’m alive. I’m breathing. I can’t believe it.’

The prayer she had screamed in those final moments — begging for one more chance — had actually been answered. Someone up there must have a sense of humor.

She snatched her phone from the nightstand. The screen lit up.

4th of November 2024.

WHAT!!!

The phone slipped from her trembling fingers.

November 2024. Eight whole months before the wedding. Eight months before Bridget yanked her hair and cracked her skull. Eight months before Silas stood over her hospital bed and pulled the oxygen mask off like it was nothing.

She had traveled back in time. Eight months before they killed her.

“No,” she whispered. “No, no, no—”

She restarted the phone. The date didn’t change. The walls of her bedroom looked wrong — the curtains she had replaced in January were still the old ugly ones. She scanned the ceiling. The crack from the earthquake wasn’t there yet.

It was real. She had really gone back.

Fidelia pressed her palms against her eyes, but the memories refused to leave: Silas’s cold, expressionless face as he watched her suffocate. Bridget’s satisfied smile. Alice’s calculated cruelty.

‘They killed me. My own family killed me.’

The thought should have shattered her. Should have sent her spiraling into tears and self-pity.

Instead, something sharp and ice-cold crystallized in her chest.

‘You all killed me once.’

Fidelia slowly lowered her hands. Her reflection stared back from the darkened window. She looked at the girl in the glass with a deep frown and spoke out loud, voice low and steady:

“I won’t let you do it again.”

She stood on unsteady legs, walked to her desk, and opened her laptop. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard for only a second before they started flying across the keys, eyes fierce with brand-new purpose.

They thought she was weak, naive and easy to manipulate.

Worst than that, they thought she was easy to kill.

She was going to let them keep thinking that.

Fidelia Crawford had died once.

The woman they would meet tomorrow at breakfast would be someone else entirely.

…………..

The next morning, Fidelia woke up in her bed, steeling herself for the day she had once lived like a fool.

Today was the day Silas proposed to her. The day she had said yes without hesitation.

She held her phone, jaw tight, replaying every future memory. A sound came from the door.

“Fidelia, breakfast is ready… Are you awake?”

Bridget didn’t even wait for a reply before walking away. Hearing that voice, the anger deep inside Fidelia started boiling over.

That was her stepsister Bridget — the one who had nearly killed her. No. The one who did kill her. Along with Alice and Silas. All of them had planned it.

They were the only family she had, yet they had made her life hell since she was small. What exactly had I done wrong? Fidelia wondered bitterly. Yes, she was adopted, but was this the fate of every adopted child, or had she just drawn the short straw in this nightmare family?

She was still lost in dark thoughts when her phone rang. Caller ID: Babe.

Her stomach twisted. For a split second, her stupid heart still ached for the man she had once loved.

Then the memories crashed in: the cold look in his eyes, the oxygen mask in his hands, the flatline.

Her jaw clenched hard.

You’re not real. You never were.

The phone rang again. This time she picked up.

‘You’re not real. You never were.’

The phone rang again. This time she picked up.

She had decided to hear what Silas was going to say.

“Looks like we’re walking into a full house. I plan to make things clear and set them straight… then I’ll give them a surprise. Just a small package.”She glanced over her shoulder at the envelope sitting on the back seat. Her phone rang. Maya’s name lit the screen.“Alright,” Maya’s voice came through. “I’ve made the payment. Sort things out. When you’re done, let me know.”“Yes.” Fidelia hung up without another word.……Fidelia stepped into her parents’ house. Her stepmother was there. Her stepsister too. And… Silas.Silas smiled at her with that same soft, practiced smile.“I’ve forgiven you,” he said, voice warm. “You can come back… you can come back to me.”They were all smiling at her when Fidelia smiled back. Then Andrian walked in.He’d been delayed earlier by his ex, so she had arrived first. Now he stepped up beside her, and Fidelia’s voice cut through the room.“I want you to meet my husband.”She walked to him, kissed him on the lips, then turned and faced them.“This is A

The hacker had been waiting for a while. After noticing that his target’s account had stayed empty for quite some time, he started to doubt whether the man had realized something was wrong. Still, he waited. Then, all of a sudden, a huge amount of money entered the target’s bank account and crypto wallet. Everything had been funded back.He straightened up in his chair and started typing a series of codes, eyes locked on the screen. After a while he finally got access and wiped everything off. It was so smooth he didn’t even break a sweat. He was still counting the figures when a notification popped up. He cleared it — and the next second he watched the account being drained of every single cent.‘What the fuck?’He typed furiously, trying to stop whoever was hacking him, trying to block the other person, but it was already too late. All the funds were gone. The balance sat at zero.Another notification appeared:Try again. Try harder next time.He stood there breathing hard, then sla

Andrian stared at his phone in disbelief. It was too real. How could this happen again after Fidelia had already hacked him once? He had ordered his team to secure the accounts in multiple layers. It wasn’t supposed to be possible.“This can’t be happening… it’s not possible. My accounts have been secured in multiple layers,” he muttered, still staring at the endless debit alerts. Then he turned and looked at Fidelia.“What did you do?” His voice was tight with anger.“Huh what did I do?”“I didn’t do anything. It seems your account has already been compromised,” she said calmly, her hands still moving across the keyboard.“If I wanted your money gone, I wouldn’t have sent it back to you first.” She glanced at him. “Listen. I’m going to help you get it back… but not for free.”“What do you want this time?”“Again?” Fidelia raised an eyebrow, pretending to be offended. A frown settled on her face. “Have you forgotten you’re the one who needs my help? You know what? Find someone else.”

In her room, Fidelia kept staring as the coin rose insanely. She had almost given up earlier. Now she was way past her current profit. With full concentration she opened her laptop. It was easier to keep track that way. She remembered her past life — this coin never got past the ATH (All Time High). This was the highest it had ever gone, and she remembered it.It was almost at the top when a message popped up on her screen. She thought it was a notification, but when she checked, her frown deepened and her hands started to tremble. It was a message from her stepmother.‘Come home now and I’ll forgive you. Then we can talk about your wedding date with Silas. We are all expecting you. Be a good girl. You never disobey… remember yesterday, right? …Be a good girl.’As she read it, she felt like crying. The words were outrageous. But she took a deep breath, calmed herself, and tossed the phone onto the bed. She needed to focus.By the time she turned back to the laptop, the coin had alread

Then they heard a glass fall and break. Both of them froze.Only Maya was outside. They quickly dressed and rushed out.“What happened?” Andrian asked, staring at his sister who was clearly in a drunken state.“Sorry… I mistakenly broke the bottle,” Maya mumbled, eyes half-open. She squinted at the two of them and pointed a finger. “You two look busy…” Then her head dropped and she fell asleep right there.“You…” Andrian really wanted to throw curses, but he held them in.Fidelia grinned. “She’s drunk. You should help her to bed.”She turned and walked back to her room. She still needed to rest. She had a long, bad day. Her stepsister and stepmother had done a lot of damage — to her heart, her body, and her money. She had been watching her phone the entire time so she could sell the coin at the right moment, but she hadn’t realized it had already dipped. She kept thinking of ways to take her revenge. She needed to take it back.In the middle of those thoughts, she fell asleep.……The

“I already have a few names in mind,” he said, glancing at her. “Contacts I can pull in. But it’s not going to be simple. There are competitors circling the same project, and if I make one wrong move, they’ll use it to undermine me in front of the board.”“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” she teased.Andrian gave a quiet laugh. “A little. I like pressure — it makes me sharper. But I also know I can’t afford any distractions right now.”“Meaning me?” she asked with a faint smile. He reached over, brushing her hand. “No. Meaning I’ll need you to keep me grounded while I’m chasing this deal. And maybe…” He leaned closer. “…remind me why it’s worth winning in the first place.”She shook her head but couldn’t help smiling back. “Fine. But if you crash, don’t expect me to come dragging you out of the mess alone.”“I won’t crash,” he said simply, his tone full of certainty.By the time the plates were pushed aside and the glasses refilled, the air between them had shifted. The wine had don
