CONNOR

"That will be all," I said, observing the faces of the doctors I'd be working with for my next surgery through the screen of my monitor.

It didn't seem like any of them had any doubt about or counter opinion on the surgery arrangement and schedule.

"We look forward to working with you," one of them, the only one I've never met before, spoke.

"The pleasure is all mine. I hope we give this our best as the profession has taught us to uphold," I added, already putting away my documents and glasses.

"Goodnight, then," I said finally, waiting a little longer until everyone had dropped out of the call.

The doorbell dinged at the same time I pushed the button of my monitor off.

I wasn't expecting anyone, so I was a bit surprised, but then again, it could be security.

The loud ring of the door bell blared across the sitting room again as I made my way towards the door from my home office.

Punching the door monitor to live, the face that stared back at me got my knees buckling weakly into themselves.

Lola.

What was she doing here?

No. Not that.

How did she find out I lived here?

Through the screen of the door monitor, I examined her face, just to be sure she was alright and this wasn't some sort of emergency reach out.

She looked fine. Kind of nervous too, because of the way she was staring at the door.

Taking in a deep breath, I turned the knob of the door and opened up.

"Hi, Dr. Connor," she said with all smiles, putting up her right hand in a small wave at me.

"Uhm, come in. I wasn't expecting you, and I don't do so great with surprises, sorry."

"No, I understand completely. I would have been fine without an apology, sincerely. I was out there thinking you had gone to bed."

I had locked the door after her and was trailing slowly behind her as she walked towards the sitting room with the confidence of someone that was visiting for the tenth time and so didn't need any guidance to find their way.

We made it to the sitting room and I watched her sink into one of the soft sofas, stretching out her legs in front and gently massaging a side of her neck.

I was still standing in front of her, clueless on what to say or do next.

My palms were sweaty, and my entire body ran tense.

"How are you?" I finally spoke, taking a seat directly opposite of her.

"Oh, I am shocked, but happy, maybe," she answered, straightening her posture to face me.

"I heard everything you said over the phone last night," I replied, making an effort to start a conversation that would distract me from how I was beginning to feel inside.

For some reason, I couldn't help but notice the tiniest details in the woman suddenly sitting across me on a random evening — how her hair looked loose like she hadn't paid it any attention in the last couple hours, the tiredness hidden behind her eyes and how her body shifted to my last words.

"Yes, Eddy has been acting strange. I don't know if I should be worried," she replied, her eyes fluttering away from my face to her hands which were folded against her laps.

I swallowed.

"Was this what you came here to tell me?"

"I was at the baking school today. It was hectic, but I decided to drop by the hospital and I was told you had gone home."

My eyes widened in an obvious confusion as to how she was able to find my house given her explanation.

"Your secretary gave me your home address," she finished.

"Claire did?"

"Who's Claire? Oh, yes. Claire. She did."

"Okay," I exclaimed, nodding my head, my mind wandering into space, making up my own reasons as to why she had come.

"Connor!"

Her voice was soft, gentle and delicate, like permission to embrace my imaginations.

"Can I ask for a hug?"

My heart skipped a beat, my thoughts doubling up and finally seeking solace with only the memories of the things that didn't confuse me — amongst them, Lola had not just asked for a hug in the confines of the silence of my sitting room.

She wasn't joking.

She just sat there, staring pleadingly at me, probably hoping I'd make the first move to pull her hair back and slid across her neck with my face.

Maybe I would have been able to escape the prison of my own imaginations, but she was sitting right in front of me, her bre*sts puffy through the cotton dress that hugged her shape like satin under the influence of wind and water, and the skin of her neck which was only a proportion visible through the chunk of hair surrounding it.

I moved before I was able to stop myself.

Helping her up, I pushed my short hair back — an act of anxiety, the same exact time she did hers.

And then, our lips plucked into each other, our tongues rolling against themselves.

We blew, sucked and devoured each other like it was the only thing we wanted to do for the rest of our lives and we were trying so hard to prove that point.

The thrill of finally having Lola was too much to handle at a time, so my body revolted — I gagged hard.

I needed a second, but breaking the moment was the last thing I wanted to do.

I tried to take quick breaths, Lola came at me again with an energy I had never experienced with her, tugging my collars tight and pulling me hard against herself, the tenderness of her skin melting into my hard desires.

My fingers twitched as I grabbed her throat. Very careful to stay gentle, I pushed her head off me leaving me staring at the plump of her wet, hungry lips, slightly parted...F*ck!

I went back in with the intensity of a man intoxicated by the lack of control of his own desires.

"Ouch!" she muffled, jerking out slightly.

"I'm sorry...," I returned, the last part of the "sorry" getting lost in my hot breathing, the odd taste of blood dissolved in saliva spreading across the flatness of my tongue.

I couldn't stop.

I didn't care about the questions I initially had — Why she wasn't home at the time and what she told Eddy.

I just knew one thing — I wouldn't want to spend the night without her.

LOLAAs Freddy began to walk away, I followed him, my chest pounding uncontrollably in my chest. We walked up the stairs until we were right on the second floor with my room a couple steps in front. He turned to face me. Despite the urge to fall on my knees and try to plead my way out of the terrible act of listening to his conversation with his father, I tried to maintain a straight expression.Without a single word, he stared me down like he too was finding it difficult to come up with a first word, or maybe, he was contemplating on how best to rebuke me.I couldn't stare him back in the eyes, maybe I would have been able to tell what his thoughts were.Exhaling sharply, he turned and began walking up the stairs.I thought about heading straight for my room, but instead, I followed him."Stop, Freddy. Maybe we could talk."He didn't reply, just kept going. He got to his room and let himself in, banging the door right in my face."Freddy! I am sorry for listening to your conversation

  • SCORNED BY HIM, DESIRED BY THE THREE   DO YOU STILL HOLD ANY GRUDGES?

LOLAIt was an unusually chilly morning as I rode down town, my heart thumping heavily, every little sound causing me to jerk over.I didn't know how it happened, but the truth remains that it happened.I wasn't supposed to stay out last night, especially without informing Eddy. The only few times I had stayed out since my marriage were during my visits to my parents, which had only happened twice in two years — once with Eddy's permission, the other without and I paid dearly for it.Pulling into the compound, my stomach twisted painfully as I packed well in the garage. It took a long while before I found the courage to get out of the car. When I finally did, my legs felt too weak to walk the distance to the house.Earlier, I had rehearsed questions Eddy could possibly ask me, and the most appropriate replies I should give. I haven't even gone in, yet my hands were already shaky behind me.I almost tripped when my phone started to vibrate inside my bag. Sighing, I dug it out with trem

CONNORA warmth, sudden and familiar, hit my face, forcing me to turn over.Blindly, I searched around my lower body for the sheets, and when I had grabbed it, I tried pulling it over my shoulders, but the other end of it wouldn't bulge.Groaning, I stretched against the bed, my knuckles colliding mercilessly with the bedframe to produce a striking sound. The pain spread mercilessly across my arm, forcing me to swallow the hard ball of urge to change my bed to a more modern style. With my eyes still shut, I tried rolling over to the other side of the bed, but crashed against an obstruction. My brain processed it quickly, noting that I wasn't alone on the bed, but before I could make out who the company was and why they were there, I was distracted by a heaviness around my waist. It was so distinct and full, my eyes flung open, my fingers working frantically to push the sheets away from my body, my thoughts roaming hard, fearing the worst possible outcome. My breathing dropped. My body

  • SCORNED BY HIM, DESIRED BY THE THREE   WHAT MIGHT BE

LOLAI had happily groveled at dinner earlier, not caring about Eddy's words or how much it might mean.I was going to start baking again, and there was nothing that could go wrong.Sitting out on the shelter closest to the pool behind the compound, I couldn't contain my joy, so I decided to text Connor — the very person that assured me that Eddy would change. That day, he kept emphasizing on it like he could actually control Eddy's attitude towards me. I had taken his words with a pinch of salt, but it started to play out right in front of me."I can't believe it, Connor," I screamed into the receiver, quivering as I recalled that I was still within Eddy Langford's property, and he could be listening on my call."Did something happen to you? Calm down, okay?"He sounded tired, like he had just woken up or had been buried in work for a long time."Where are you?" I asked, unable to hide the excitement that laced my voice."I decided to go home today. How did you know?""I don't know a

LOLAMy body stiffened to the thought of Connor's secretary walking in on us earlier today."No way," I exclaimed loudly, shaking my head, trying to keep my mind in the reality that it didn't happen. It was evening, and Beverly Hills was unusually quiet, the lights that brightened the city from tall poles shining gloomily over the habitats. It was like the city knew my story, and was promising not to tell. Like they were watching to see what would become of me eventually. It was too early to go to bed, but I wanted to clock out for the day as quickly as I could. For over twenty minutes, I tried to get my body to sleep, but a particular discomfort kept stirring me awake. Finally, I jumped from my bed. Grabbing my bottle of water from the bedside table, I gulped down the contents until I could barely breathe.I still felt very uncomfortable even after that, and that was when I decided to go down stairs.Slowly, one step at a time, my mind heavy with a feeling I couldn't control, I desce
