Laila's POV

“I am not your property.” The words ripped from my throat before I could stop them. I gulped hard immediately regretting them.

This was Lycan Kieran, the news and photos I’d seen of him didn't do justice to the man standing in front of me.

I was at his mercy now and he could get rid of me if he deemed me unworthy to stay alive.

It was hard to breathe his dark eyes fixed on me, unreadable yet seething with an intensity that made my stomach knot. His lips curved into something that wasn’t quite a smile.

“You are mine,” he practically commanded. “You’re my mate, Laila. That makes you mine.”

Gulping down the bile on my throat, I managed to say, “No,” I whispered, shaking my head. “There had to be a mistake. Damien is my mate. Damien-”

The words died on my tongue as the memory of his rejection stabbed at me.

“Don’t dare utter another man’s name,” Kieran snapped. His aura pressed against me, my heart rate doubled and my stomach squished. “You are mine and mine alone,”
