Doting father

"What did you just say?" A thunderous voice was heard as steady but strong footsteps came their way. All eyes turned to the middle-aged man who appeared to be in his late thirties but was actually in his sixties.

"I....I...wh...who are you?" As soon as officer Jones asked this question, gasps and Snickers were heard as they all stared at him like he was insane.

Even his partner who came along with him, covered his face in embarrassment. Who didn't know the business guru? Who didn't know the CEO of the second most wealthiest company in country A? Only a fool wouldn't.

"How are you? Are you okay? Did you get injured?" The middle-aged man frantically ran to Veronica and examined her like he was touching a fragile glass.

"Dad, I'm fine," Veronica sighed dramatically but still allowed her father do as he pleased.

"Are you sure? I brought the doctor with me," Mr. Smith said and snapped his fingers. A woman in a lab coat soon appeared him and stared at Veronica like she had already found a new piece of experiment.

"Dad, there's no need. Seriously I'm fine," Veronica grumbled and slapped her forehead. Her father could really be dramatic sometimes.

She couldn't blame him because he had only her left. Her mother died immediately after she birthed her, making her the only child of her father. She had lost count of times she adviced him to find a partner but her words went on deaf ears. Been the only child of her father meant she was very pampered. She got anything she wanted just at the snap of her fingers.

"I know you're not. Take the doctor inside to treat your wounds. I'll come see you inside as soon as I'm done dealing with this scoundrels," Mr. Smith cooed, seeming as if he was petting a baby.

Veronica knew it was of no use trying to explain the situation to her father that she wasn't injured. Moreover, the man inside her suite needed the treatment more than her.

"Sure father, take care. You don't want to make the headlines on tomorrow's magazine," Veronica joked but her father only snickered. She knew he wasn't afraid of causing a scene as far as it concerned her. She could only shake her head and led the timid doctor into her suite.

Inside the suite, Carole sat on the bed, staring at the man laid on the floor.

"Why are you staring at him? Do you find him very handsome and you want to poach him?" Veronica asked with a raised eyebrow as she sauntered into the suite with the doctor closely following behind her.

Carole rolled her eyes and bid her goodbye before leaving the suite.

Now, the only people left in the suite was the unconscious Sebastian, Veronica and the doctor who was confused about who she was to treat.

To her, Veronica appeared not to have any injury which made her confused about why she was called.

"Humm...who am I treating?"

"Of course, you're treating him. My father was just being dramatic. I'm not injured," Veronica hurriedly explained as she led the doctor to where Sebastian laid.

"Do we need to put him on the bed?" Veronica asked but soon realized how stupid her question sounded.

"Yes. We'll carry him gently so as not to aggravate his injuries," the doctor explained and Veronica nodded her head in understanding as they both gently laid him on the bed.

One hour later, a drip was connected to Sebastian's unconscious body. Unlike before, he was no longer bloodied but carried the air of dead person.

If it wasn't because of the holter monitor, she'd have thought he was dead. Veronica laid on the other side of the bed and stared up, trying her best to fall asleep. This was her first time sleeping close to a man which was also at the expense of disobeying her father few minutes ago.

The man almost had a heart attack as soon as he saw Sebastian in her suite. After much persuasion from her, he reluctantly left her suite along with the doctor in tow.

It was 2:00 am in the morning and Veronica was yet to get any sleep which made her think about her next shoot tomorrow.

As she thought of this, she glanced at the pitch black figure of the man laying next to her. Although, she couldn't make out his features due to how dark the room was.

Veronica vividly remembered the doctor's warning on how to take care of Sebastian. She became aware that she couldn't leave him all alone while she went to shoot her drama scene.

After much thoughts, she picked up her phone and texted a series of words to Carole and kept her phone aside.

She closed her eyes, trying to sleep but it was fruitless. She knew it'd be hard sleeping close to a stranger that actually gave her a familiar feeling.

She sighed tiredly and closed her eyes.

Few minutes later, Veronica had drifted into a slumber.

The next morning, the sun peeked into the room through the dark curtains and directly shone in the figures tightly glued on the bed. Between the two figures, the first person to stir from her sleep was Veronica who appeared like she just had the best sleep of her life despite sleeping hours ago.

"Awwww," Veronica yawned loudly, her image of the best actress completely shattered.

Her brain took long to register what was going on as she stared at the man on her bed.

Seconds later, everything that happened last night came back rushing into her head.

"Sh*t, how did I end up in this situation?" She asked loudly as she massaged her forehead.

It was at this moment she noticed the television that automatically turned on and the latest news appeared on the screen.

"Last night was a wonderful night indeed. An accident occured in the suburbs of a rural area very late at night. The victim of the accident appears to be a big shot whom the cops are yet to find his/her identity."
