KAELION POV

It didn't come as a surprise that Seliora was still not convinced her father murdered Misha and ravaged my pack.

The incident scene was still so fresh in memory like a wound that has refused to heal. Each detail, from the sight of Misha's lifeless body on the ground to the blood of some of my pack members splashed all over the wooden floor continues to linger in my mind.

I still remember how I rushed towards Misha and held her cold bloody hands while thinking who would do such a cruel thing and also how I promised her dead body I would take revenge on whoever did this to her.

No matter what I did and how much I tried to take this scene off my head, I couldn't.

“I don't believe a word that comes out of your mouth,” Seliora said, staring at me with so much anger in her eyes.

I could tell she would do anything to hurt me in that moment but I didn't mind, I only cared that I was finally able to fulfil my promise to Misha.

That was all that mattered to me.

“Hey,” I called out to one of the pack maids. “Take her to one of the rooms and get her something to eat.”

“No!” Seliora stated, charging towards me. “I don't want your food or anything that has to do with you.”

It impressed me to see that she still had so much energy from the long day she had just had.

“This attitude is going to get you nowhere. I am feeding you because I need you alive not because I bloody care about you,” I replied to her, placing down the wine glass.

I then signalled to one of my men who was standing right by the door.

“Take her away!” I demanded.

As I watched Seliora being taken away, I stared at Misha’s picture on the wall. I had expected to feel better after finally getting my revenge but I felt nothing but emptiness.

Misha was the first and only woman I ever loved. A part of me constantly blamed myself for leaving her at the pack house the very day she was murdered.

“Kaelion,” I heard a voice say, snapping me out of my thoughts. “You are thinking about Misha again, aren't you?”

“I can't stop thinking about her no matter how much I

Try not to,” I mumbled, slowly looking back at Jackson.

Jackson was my beta and my best friend. We were both out together on a pack meeting on the day the attack on the pack happened.

“We finally got revenge for her and the pack, Kaelion. I know it might be hard now but it will get easier,” Jackson uttered confidently, picking up a glass and also pouring himself a drink.

“Cheers to the end of the ember fang pack,” I said, raising my glass before clinking it with Jackson’s.

As we both gulped the drink, I noticed a familiar look on Jackson’s face and knew exactly what it meant.

He had something to say to me.

“Tell me what it is,” I demanded, placing the empty cup on the table.

“The red-headed girl,” Jackson muttered, his voice filled with concern. “You should not have brought her here. I have heard some stories about that girl's bravery, Kaelion.”

“I have it all under control, do not worry about it,” I stated, patting Jackson on the shoulders.

I then recalled it was time to address the pack members and assure them they didn't have to worry about attacks on us from now on since they had all been living under fear since the attack.

“We should go now,” I said to Jackson who didn't seem convinced about what I had just said. I watched as he reluctantly nodded his head and placed the wine glass on the table.

Afterwards, we both walked out of the house and made our way to the backyard where the meeting was taking place.

“Long live Alpha Kaelion,” The pack members chanted happily as I walked towards them. It has been quite a while since I saw any of them smile and this made me happy.

“Thank you, everyone,” I stated with a smile, standing in front of them while Jackson stood behind me. “Today we ended the pack that ravaged our pack weeks ago, we burnt down their house and did the exact thing they did to us. This is for our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, cousins, and mates who got injured and killed in the attack.”

“Yes!” The crowd screamed in unison.

“From now on there will be no more attacks on us. No packs would dare to try it after what we did today, I have organised some drinks and food for you all to celebrate. Drink and eat all you want,” I added, looking back at the pack chefs who had started to set up.

The crowd cheered in unison once again and all dispersed while I stood and watched them quietly.

“You aren't staying, are you?” Claire said, walking towards me with a smile.

She was Misha’s favourite cousin who somehow survived the attack with only a few injuries.

“I need to get some sleep, I had a long day,” I responded, walking away from her.

“Staying alone in your room all the time would only make the pain worse. You should stay and spend some time with the pack members,” She insisted, waking behind me but I was not in the mood to party.

I just wanted to be left alone.

“Go join the party and have some fun,” I muttered, trying to get her off my back but she continued to follow me and walked into the house with me.

“Please,” Claire mumbled but as I tried to look back to talk to her, I noticed one of my men rushing towards me.

“What is it?” I asked in a firm tone.

“The..red..headed girl,” He replied. “I was told by one of the pack maids who tried to take some food to her that she was not in her room.”

“That sneaky bitch,” I thought to myself looking back at Claire who stared at me blankly.

KAELION POVSeeing the proud look Seliora had on her face after almost murdering one of the closest people I had left made me fear I might have gone too soft on her.I needed to remind her that she was being taken captive here.“Go into your room and call the pack doctor. I will see you in a minute,” I stated, facing Claire. She nodded her head and walked away quietly while I wondered what to do with Seliora.“You would have killed her if I were not here to stop you,” I yelled, trying so hard to hold back my anger. If Seliora had hurt her, I would not have been able to forgive myself. “You disobey my rules every chance you get. You are going to get punished this time,” I growled.“Really,” Seliora simply responded. It seemed like she had something to say but I didn't want to hear whatever it was she had to say.“I was protecting myself from her, she attacked me!” She stated.I was sure there was no way Claire was lying to me, Seliora had to be the one lying.“Did you ask her for a wa

SELIORA POV“Where am I?” I mumbled, slowly opening my eyes. The last thing I remembered was collapsing in front of Kaelion while trying to talk to him. I managed to open my eyes completely and tried to sit up but I was too weak. I scanned the room with my eyes slowly and from what I could tell, I was in a hospital.“You are fine, you were brought here to the pack clinic by the Alpha,” I heard a voice say.“Kaelion,” I muttered in disbelief. He was the last person I imagined would bring me here.“Yes,” The pack doctor replied, walking towards me with a tray of food of water. “You have to eat, you are suffering from extreme exhaustion and starvation.”“How long was I out for?” I asked, taking the tray from him.“About six hours,” The doctor responded.“Wow,” I mumbled.“Eat up and rest, I will be back in three hours to check up on you,” The doctor said, walking away.I slowly opened up the plate which contained a bowl of food, some vegetables, and steak. “Smells good,” I whispered, t

KAELION POVThis didn't look like a trick or an attempt to fool me but if it was, she must be pretty good at acting.Without a second's thought, I picked her up and hurried towards the quarter where the pack doctor lives with Jackson right behind me.Whatever it was, I could not let her die. She was only useful to me alive.“Get her on the table,” The pack doctor who seemed to have sensed us coming instructed.I gently placed her down while watching the doctor examine her. For some reason, I hated to see her this way.It reminded me of how helpless I felt seeing Misha’s dead body.“What is wrong with her?” I inquired, running out of patience.“She is suffering from starvation and extreme exhaustion, Alpha. It seemed like she had not slept or eaten for a long amount of time,” The doctor explained.I knew Seliora was relentless and stubborn but I never thought she would succumb to starving herself. I felt sorry for chaining her and dragging her to the border but there was no way I could

SELIORA POVThis was enough to prove that Kaelion might have been wrong about everything. He was so quick to assume this attack was from my father.Maybe he acted under annoyance and should have probably investigated the attack or maybe his mate’s death made him too delusional to even think things through.Either way, I loved his response and looked forward to making him suffer till he took his last breath. I had also hoped this was Father but I was not disappointed. I was sure he was doing everything he could to get me out of here. This was going to be a bit hard for him considering Kaelion wiped out all of our pack members and father’s men.“We have to go,” The familiar man who earlier came into the office to break the news of the attack to Kaelion announced standing right next to me.“You are his Beta right,” I muttered, looking sideways at him. “What is your name?.“Jackson,” He answered, coldly.“I am guessing Kaelion is also your friend,” I uttered. “What do you want?” Jackson

KAELION POVI expected an attack from Alpha Thane but this was happening sooner than I expected.Judging from how frightened Jackson looked, it was quite obvious he was terrified.“We cannot be certain my father is behind this, it could be anyone,” Seliora said.“Well we are about to find out, aren't we?” I stated, grabbing her arms and dragging her out of the room.“What are you doing?” She asked in a loud voice but I was too upset to even listen to her.All I wanted was to know whether this attack was from her father or not. I had promised to keep my remaining pack members safe and was willing to do anything to keep the promise.I just could not let them go through another attack. Besides what Kind of Alpha would I be if I could not keep my pack safe?“You might want to think about whatever is going on in your head safe. If the attack is truly from my father, you have to let me see and talk to him,” Seliora said, but I only continued to ignore her.“Gather all the men, I will be the

SELIORA POVThere was no way I could remain calm or try to reason with Kaelion. He had completely lost his mind. There was no way in hell I was going to help him take down my father.I reached for the door and tried to open it up but couldn't.“Let me out of here,” I demanded, staring back at him.“We are not done talking, Seliora. Come back and sit,” He replied.Seeing that I had no option, I reluctantly made my way towards the chair and sat down on it.“Rule number three, You listen to me whenever I talk. The next time you try to leave or break any of my rules, you will be punished,” He stated, glaring at me.“You already destroyed my pack and took everything I love from me, there is no greater punishment than that,” I responded, clenching my jaw.“I simply did the same thing your father did to me,”He said, casually. The room went quiet afterwards with both of us staring into each other's eyes with so much rage. I desperately wanted to ask how he assumed my father was behind this
