SELIORA POV
I barely slept all through the night. For once, I was so confident this plan was going to work. I had woken up as early as six and gotten ready for the journey. All that remained was for Kaelion to knock on my door. An hour later, I got tired of waiting for him and paced around the room impatiently. “Could he have changed his mind about taking me with me?” I thought to myself but felt a wave of relief after I heard a knock on the door. Without hesitation, I opened it up. “Time to go,” Kaelion who looked like a character in an action movie stated. “It's a trip not a fashion show,” I muttered, walking out of the room wondering why he had to dress up so much. We then both walked out of the house quietly and I watched as he made his way towards his truck. “We are going in that?” I asked. “Yes, get in!” He answered, walking in while I wondered whether he wanted us to go in as when there were a whole lot of cars in the compound we could take. “Waiting,” He stated, honking the horn. Taking a deep breath, I walked over to the car and got in. “Here,” He said, passing me a handcuff. “Put it on.” I quietly took it from him and did as he said. Nothing was going to stop me from finding the kysnite stone, not even the handcuffs. “Good. I had to make sure you weren't going to try to run off again, considering your track record,” He said in a sarcastic tone before finally driving out of the compound. For the first time since I had been staying at the Obsidian Pack, I was starting to feel like myself again. I leaned back against the car seat and stared out of the window. I imagined the moment I was going to reunite with my family once again, I just could not wait. After a few hours of driving, the car came to a halt. “I need a break,” Kaelion stated, getting out of the car while I rolled my eyes in irritation. “You can come too if you want, we still have a whole lot of miles to cover,” He said in a loud tone. “You handcuffed me, remember?” I muttered. “I thought you would not want my help,” He said, opening the door. “I don't,” I responded, walking out of the car. Kaelion walked to the back of the trunk and leaned against it while I looked on. “Remind me why we stopped again?” I asked. “Because the last time I remember, one of your pack members killed another of your pack and this trip is the only way you can find whoever did this and also find the truth about why your mate was killed.” “You know I wished I had brought a tape to seal your mouth,” He simply muttered. Afterwards, he said nothing and stared at the view which was a huge empty land. I loved the view which reminded me of the days when my sister had I would play hide and seek in the park training field. She would always find me no matter where I was hiding. If she were still alive, I was sure she would have gotten me out of here. “How long are we going to be here for?” I asked, looking sideways at Kaelion. “A few more minutes,” He replied in a low tone. I then also leaned back against the car and continued to enjoy the view silently. When all this was finally over, the first thing I would do was to go visit my sister's grave and tell her about all this. “Let's go,” Kaelion said after some minutes, walking away. We then continued the journey but I soon started to feel hungry. I had not eaten anything for almost twenty-four hours. “Is that what I think it is?” Kaelion asked as my stomach rumbled. “It's none of your business, just drive,” I said. He said nothing afterwards but my stomach continued to rumble, the hunger was starting to get unbearable. After a while, the car came to a halt again. “What is it this time?” I asked, looking sideways at him. “Let's go get some food, I am hungry too,” He stated. I then looked back and realised we were at a fast-food restaurant. Before I could say disagree, he opened the door to my side of the car and unlocked the handcuffs. “Come on out, we do not have all day,” He demanded, staring at me. “Fine,” I muttered, walking out. Before I could take a step, he gripped my left hand and held it tightly. “Just making sure you do not try to run off,” He said while I rolled my eyes in irritation. Afterwards, we both made our way into the restaurant and Kaelion made sure to find us a place where we could sit right beside each other. He then called out to one of the waiters and ordered a chicken sandwich while I ordered a burger and some fries. In no time, our order was brought. With a huge smile on my face, I took a bite from the burger. I had missed eating junk food so much. Kaelion on the other hand slowly ate his sandwich with a straight face. “Hurry,” He said after some minutes. I continued to have my meal without minding him and gulped down my drink while Kaelion concentrated on his meal. “I am done,” I said, some minutes later. Kaelion then called out to the waiter and requested takeout before paying the bill. After some seconds, the waiter handed him the takeout and we both walked out. “For you,” He said handing the takeout to me after we got into the car. “I would not want the sound of your stomach disturbing me again.” Afterwards, he handed me the handcuff again and drove off the moment I put it on. Some hours later, the car came to a halt. “We have arrived,” He announced.SELIORA POVRex was dead and Zack had escaped. All in one night. All that I could get the answers I so desperately wanted were gone.Kaelion was crashing out and instructing all the guards to make sure to find Zack and bring him back to the pack while I just stared at him in silence. After getting tired of listening to Kaelion instruct his guards, I walked out of the hospital and went into my room.I then locked the door and walked over the window. I opened it up and smiled at the moon which was now at its peak.Changing into my wolf form was the only way I could release the tension of the night.I soon felt my claws emerging and my senses heightened, just seconds later, I had turned.I let out a howl then launched myself out of the window. I then ran out of the pack gate which was open and began to run through the woods.Full moons were always my favourite.I made sure to avoid the obsidian pack members and stay as far away from them as possible. They were a pack while I was a lone w
KAELION POVRex was getting away.“I will be back, Kaelion. I will come to take what is mine,” He stated, swinging the door wide open while I continued to run towards the gate.“Damn it!” I muttered as he ran out.I then reached the gate but heard a loud thud before I could go after him.“Rex,” I called out, looking out of the gate.If Rex was right about this being a bigger conspiracy that Alpha Thane was a part of, it only meant I had a huge problem. The one who orchestrated the plan to attack my pack was still out there.“Found him,” I heard, Jackson say walking into the house while dragging Rex by the legs. “I also knew the one who attacked Zack would try to finish him off.”I had never been happier to see Jackson.“Shut the gate,” I muttered, staring at the guards.Tonight was a full moon which meant I only had about two hours to get Rex to talk before transforming into my wolf form.Rex would also be transforming. He would be much stronger than he is now.“You will have to kill
SELIORA POV“Someone is here,” I whispered into Kaelion’s ear before slowly peeping into the hospital room.It was Rex.He was in the hospital room to finish what he started just like I had predicted.I could feel Kaelion’s heartbeat race as he leaned towards me and watched Rex make his way slowly towards Zack who was lying unconscious on the hospital bed.I could also feel his anger rising but this was not the time to act. I needed to see if there was anything Rex could do that which give me some clues about why he was doing this.“Stop!” Kaelion growled, rushing out of where we hid as Rex pulled a knife out of his shirt. He immediately gripped Rex’s hand while I watched the scene quietly.“I trusted you, Rex. Why would you betray the pack like this?” Kaelion asked, his voice a bit calmer this time.Rex didn’t look remorseful about what he had done. He only continued to struggle to release the knife in his hands.“Why!” Kaelion barked, finally taking the knife from him and swinging i
SELIORA POVI was completely sure of this. After Jackson had earlier announced Zack had been attacked, I was certain it must have been one of the guards.Back at my pack, there was a way I was able to determine whether a person was telling the truth or lying by listening to the sound of their heartbeats.I did the same to the guards as Jackson interrogated them about the incident. They all had slow and steady heartbeats which told me all I needed to know, they were speaking the truth. This then made me conclude the traitor was a person of a higher rank in the pack. This narrowed my options and left me with two options. Jackson and the head of the pack of soldiers, Rex.Asking Kaelion to call out all of the pack members was a way for me to search Rex’s room. The search was difficult, I had to unlock his room and hurry because he could be back in any minute. For the first two minutes, I kept searching but found nothing that could prove him guilty. Afterwards, I tried to make my way out.
KAELION POVI had nothing to do with what happened to Alpha Thane and since I would really love to explain to Seliora, I had bigger things to worry about.Jackson looked really worried.“The prisoner from the blood moon pack was attacked and almost killed in his cell,” Jackson stated. “I think this might be the same person who attacked Lexi.”“What!” I exclaimed, angrily.Enough was enough.Today was the day I was going to find whoever was doing this. The traitor in the pack had to die today.“How is he?” I asked, storming out of the office angrily with Jackson. “How did the person who did this pass through the guards without being caught?”“He is in the pack hospital. All the guards on duty have been tied down. They all claimed not to know what happened,” Jackson answered. “Whoever did this is not an ordinary pack member, he is someone who nobody would have suspected,” Seliora spoke behind me.“Gather all the pack members, Jackson,” I demanded, as we walked out of the house.Zack co
SELIORA POV“Seliora,” I heard, Kaelion call out to me while my head continued to spin. “Take deep breaths.”“I..do..not..think.. I..can,” I stuttered, running my hands through my hair.I was having an anxiety attack. The last time I had one was when my sister died years ago.“You are all right,” Kaelion said pulling me into a tight embrace while I just remained there. After a few minutes, I managed to calm down.“You good now?” He asked, breaking the hug.“Yes,” I replied, walking over to the phone which was still on the table.“Why..Father?” I asked, as my hands trembled. He has broken my trust in him. Not only that, I wondered if he was ever going to tell me the truth that Kaelion didn't threaten to kill me.He lied without hesitation.“Forgive me, Seliora. I will make sure to come get you,” He replied.“I said Why?” I yelled, picking up the phone. “You did this to our pack, you ruined everything. I defended you with all I had in me.”“It’s complicated, Seliora. I had to do it bec
