SELIORA POV

I was completely sure of this.

After Jackson had earlier announced Zack had been attacked, I was certain it must have been one of the guards.

Back at my pack, there was a way I was able to determine whether a person was telling the truth or lying by listening to the sound of their heartbeats.

I did the same to the guards as Jackson interrogated them about the incident. They all had slow and steady heartbeats which told me all I needed to know, they were speaking the truth.

This then made me conclude the traitor was a person of a higher rank in the pack.

This narrowed my options and left me with two options. Jackson and the head of the pack of soldiers, Rex.

Asking Kaelion to call out all of the pack members was a way for me to search Rex’s room.

The search was difficult, I had to unlock his room and hurry because he could be back in any minute.

For the first two minutes, I kept searching but found nothing that could prove him guilty. Afterwards, I tried to make my way out.

I opened up the door to his room gently but noticed the wooden floor before I could walk out.

Without hesitation, I began to slide the wooden floor where I noticed a seam and eventually found an arrow underground.

“I announced Zack was alive because I know he is going to try to kill him again, Kaelion,” I muttered. “I know you do not believe me but you are going to find out the truth soon.”

“There’s no way this is true, Seliora. Rex has been with me through everything,” Kaelion stated.

“We wait then. We will wait till everyone is asleep and watch him,” I said. “You do not have to believe me but you will see for yourself.”

Kaelion stared blankly at me for some seconds and nodded his head in agreement after a while.

“Fine!” He said.

Helping Kaelion find out who the traitor in his pack was was a great way to distract my mind from thinking of Father and also a way to find out why he had been abducted.

For some reason, there was still a tiny part of me that believed he must have been coerced into ravaging Kaelion’s pack.

I knew my father to be a good man. He taught me everything from how to fight to how to defend myself.

Taking a deep breath, I caught up with Kaelion who was already making his way into his house.

“After all of this is over and you catch him, will you find out what happened to my father?” I asked.

“Yes, I will,” He answered.

Afterwards, we both walked into the pack house.

“You should get something to eat,” Kaelion said, just as I turned to walk towards my room. “Come.”

His hands were pointing towards the dining table.

“The food is getting cold,” He said again, sitting down.

It was first the hug and now this. It confused me to see Kaelion acting this way towards me.

“I think I am just going to eat in the room like I always do,” I muttered.

“You are no longer a prisoner or a girl I brought here for leverage against her father, Seliora, I insist,” He stated.

I had no idea how to feel or what to even say to Kaelion.

“Okay,” I said, walking towards the dining table.

I then pulled out a chair for myself and served myself some food. As I ate, I thought again about my father.

After he confessed to me on the phone earlier, I wanted to hate him. I wanted to hate him for getting our pack killed yet I still found myself worrying about him.

“Your father is going to be fine, Seliora. I will have Jackson send out our very best men,” Kaelion assured me.

“Thanks,” I muttered.

We then both continued to eat in silence and soon finished.

I returned to my room and spent the remaining day thinking of what Rex's motive could be.

I still remember seeing him on the day Kaelion attacked my pack. He was there at the library where my brother had been held captive.

He was right by Kaelion’s side the entire time.

So why?

Why would a man who seemed so devoted to his Alpha betray him to hide the truth about what had happened exactly on the day of the attack on the pack?

Soon night came.

After looking outside the window and seeing that it was dark, I rushed out of the room.

“I was just about to come get you,” Kaelion whom I ran into in the hallway stated.

“He must be making his move, we have to go,” I said, walking away.

We made our way to the hospital and checked up on Zack first. After making sure he was fine and asleep, I pointed towards the curtains.

“We could his behind that and wait,” I suggested.

“No,” Kaelion refused.

“What other suggestions do you have?” I asked.

“Fine,” He muttered, moving towards the window.

I was the first to enter behind the curtains followed by Kaelion.

Through the windows, I could see the stars in the sky which reminded me of Malyra.

Every night before we slept as kids, we would always count the stars together. It was one of her favourite things to do.

“We have been standing here for about minutes now, Seliora,” Kaelion said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

“Quiet,” I whispered, placing my hands over his mouth. “He could walk in and hear you.”

Gazing at me, He slowly removed my hands which were still over his mouth.

“Sorry,” I muttered, awkwardly peeping out of the window.

“Why do you think Rex would betray me like this?” Kaelion whispered leaning towards me.

“I... have... no... idea,” I whispered back, trying not to maintain eye contact with him.

He was too close and it made me uncomfortable.

“Look at me, Seliora. Do you think of me as a monster,” He whispered again, as I looked back towards him but all I could concentrate on was his lips which were too close to mine.

“I..don’t.. know..What I think,” I stuttered.

Kaelion parted his lips again but just before he could talk, the door to the hospital room creaked open, jolting me back to reality.

Why would you betray the pack like this?” Kaelion asked, his voice a bit calmer this time.Rex didn’t look remorseful about what he had done. He only continued to struggle to release the knife in his hands.“Why!” Kaelion barked, finally taking the knife from him and swinging i

KAELION POVI had nothing to do with what happened to Alpha Thane and since I would really love to explain to Seliora, I had bigger things to worry about.Jackson looked really worried.“The prisoner from the blood moon pack was attacked and almost killed in his cell,” Jackson stated. “I think this might be the same person who attacked Lexi.”“What!” I exclaimed, angrily.Enough was enough.Today was the day I was going to find whoever was doing this. The traitor in the pack had to die today.“How is he?” I asked, storming out of the office angrily with Jackson. “How did the person who did this pass through the guards without being caught?”“He is in the pack hospital. All the guards on duty have been tied down. They all claimed not to know what happened,” Jackson answered. “Whoever did this is not an ordinary pack member, he is someone who nobody would have suspected,” Seliora spoke behind me.“Gather all the pack members, Jackson,” I demanded, as we walked out of the house.Zack co

I..can,” I stuttered, running my hands through my hair.I was having an anxiety attack. The last time I had one was when my sister died years ago.“You are all right,” Kaelion said pulling me into a tight embrace while I just remained there. After a few minutes, I managed to calm down.“You good now?” He asked, breaking the hug.“Yes,” I replied, walking over to the phone which was still on the table.“Why..Father?” I asked, as my hands trembled. He has broken my trust in him. Not only that, I wondered if he was ever going to tell me the truth that Kaelion didn't threaten to kill me.He lied without hesitation.“Forgive me, Seliora. I will make sure to come get you,” He replied.“I said Why?” I yelled, picking up the phone. “You did this to our pack, you ruined everything. I defended you with all I had in me.”“It’s complicated, Seliora. I had to do it bec

SELIORA POVI was sure either Kaelion or Jackson was behind this.“I haven’t been here to see him since we arrived back here yesterday,” Kaelion answered with a straight face.“You have to be lying! Why are you doing this?” I barked, facing Zack again before rushing out of the pack cell. There was no way I was going to wait for one more second and listen to more lies about my father.I could hear Kaelion calling out to me as I walked away but I was too upset. I had been looking forward to this day, for the chance to finally clear my father’s name only to be lied to instead.“You have to finally face the truth, Seliora. It's not going to change just because you refuse to believe it!” Kaelion stated, further fueling my anger.“It's all a lie, he is clearly lying and so are you!”I yelled, looking back at him. “You would do anything to make this lie about my father true. He clearly denied knowing my father yesterday. What changed?”“He was not telling the truth, Seliora,” He answered. “No

I was calculative, I did everything at the right time but each time Kaelion and I were together, I felt differe
