The moment I stepped onto our side of the court, Zayne walked over. “You okay?” I nodded “I’m fine.” Although… Out of the corner of my eye, I could still see Sebastian staring. His gaze never left me. “Everyone ready?” Coach Wingers shouted. “Yes, Coach!” Both teams answered together. Pheeeew! The whistle sounded and the game began. The ball flew rapidly between both teams. Pass… Catch….Throw…. Intercept. Everything happened so quickly. Then… Sebastian caught the ball. Instead of aiming at an open teammate… His eyes locked onto mine. He’s coming for me. My heartbeat quickened. The next second.. He launched the ball with tremendous force. It came straight toward me. I jumped. My fingertips brushed it… But I was a fraction too late. Bang! The ball struck the floor behind me. “Point! Team A!” Cheers erupted from Sebastian’s side. Stefan pumped his fist into the air. “Told you!” Harry laughed loudly. “That's what you get for joining the Losers!!” Before I could recover, Gwen stormed toward me. “What the hell was that?” She shoved my shoulder. “That was your ball!” Zayne immediately stepped between us. “Hey.” His voice remained calm. “Don’t do that. It was one mistake. Anyone could’ve missed it.” “Oh please, stop defending her!” Gwen snapped. Across the court, Stefan cupped his hands around his mouth. “Yo! Your nerdy team’s about to get crushed!” Laughter exploded from Team A. I ignored them. Instead, I looked at the court. At Sebastian… at each of his teammates and their formation including their strengths… And… Their weakness. It suddenly became clicked. “Zayne.” He turned toward me. “Yes.. are you okay?” I nodded. “I think our formation is wrong.” The rest of the team looked at me like I was moving mad. I took a deep breath. “If Gwen and Hayley could move slightly left…” “And Jackson covers the centre…” “Their attacks won’t work.” I pointed toward Sebastian. “He always attacks from the strongest angle. But when he’s frustrated… He unconsciously favours his right hand. So if we pressure him from that side… He’ll compensate by aiming left.” Everyone stared at me including Gwen. After a long silence, Zayne blinked. “…You’ve noticed all that?” I nodded. “I’ve… watched him play for years.” More years than anyone here could ever imagine. A slow smile spread across Zayne’s face. “Alright.” He turned toward everyone. “You heard her.” “Gwen. Hayley. Jackson. Take the positions Aurora suggested.” Then he looked at the rest of us. “We trust each other and we’ll give this everything.” A loud cheer erupted from Team B. We returned to our positions as the whistle sounded again. This time… Everything changed. Our defence held firm. Every attack from Team A was blocked perfectly. Sebastian’s expression gradually darkened. Exactly as I’d expected. He hated losing. The longer the rally continued… The more impatient he became. I watched every movement carefully. Every shift of his shoulders and change in his footing. Then… There it was. The opening I’d been waiting for. Sebastian drove forward. His arm swung back. He released the ball with all his strength. Just as I predicted… Toward the left. I sprinted, Leapt into the air. My palm connected perfectly with the ball. Instead of sending it straight back… I angled my wrist. The ball changed direction at the very last second. It shot across the court toward the empty space behind Team A. None of them saw it coming. Bang! The ball slammed against the floor. A heartbeat later… Pheeeew! Coach Wingers’ whistle pierced through the gym. “Point! Team B Scores!” The entire gymnasium froze.. every pair of eyes turned toward me.Aurora’s POVFor a moment, I could only stare at the scoreboard.Team B - 1. Team A - 1.We had actually done it.Before I could even process what had happened, someone crashed into me.“Yes!”Zayne laughed as he wrapped me in a quick hug before effortlessly lifting me off the ground.“You were incredible!”The entire gymnasium erupted into cheers.I blinked in surprise, laughing despite myself as he finally set me back on my feet.Within seconds, the rest of Team B rushed over.“We did it!” Laura squealed.“We actually scored against them!” Jackson shouted.Even Gwen made her way toward me. She stopped a few feet away, looking almost embarrassed.“You did it.”I smiled awkwardly, “We all did.”She shook her head, “No… that point was yours.”For a second, neither of us spoke, then she scratched the back of her neck.“…I’m sorry.”I frowned slightly.“For judging you too soon.”A small laugh escaped me.“I kind of deserved it though.”“You did,” Gwen admitted without hesitation before

Aurora’s POVMy eyes finally focused on the face of the person holding me steady. For a split second, I forgot how to breathe.Zayne…I’d seen him stare at me a few times in my previous life, I’d ignored him, tagging him a creep but here he was helping me when no one else had the balls to.Zayne helped me back onto my feet before taking a small step back, giving me enough space to steady myself.“Hey,” he asked gently. “Are you okay?”I blinked before giving him a small nod.“I’m fine.”His lips curved into a polite smile, as though he wasn’t completely convinced. Before either of us could say another word…Pheeeew!Coach Wingers’ whistle echoed through the gymnasium.“Bring it in, everyone!”The students immediately began gathering around him.Zayne glanced toward the coach before looking back at me.“Shall we?”I smiled politely.“Thank you… for catching me.”“It was nothing.”Together, we walked toward the rest of the class.Coach Wingers folded his arms behind his back as everyone
Aurora’s POVSilence swallowed the entire gymnasium. The notes I had let fall lay scattered across the polished floor, and every pair of eyes remained fixed on me.Lourdes’ face slowly darkened, his jaw clenching so tightly I thought he might crack a tooth. Before he could react, Stefan stormed forward.“How dare you!”Just as he was about to close the distance between us, a hand landed on his shoulder.Sebastian.“Stefan.”His voice was calm, but there was enough authority in it to stop his friend in his tracks.Stefan glared at me, his fists still balled into tight knots.“She just disrespected us!”Sebastian didn’t answer immediately. Instead, his blue eyes settled on me.There was confusion in them.No…Disbelief.As though he couldn’t understand why the girl who had always followed him around like a loyal shadow had suddenly become someone else overnight.I met his gaze without flinching. And for once… I wasn’t looking at him with admiration nor was I hoping for his approval.I w
Aurora’s POVThe sharp scrape of my chair against the floor echoed through the classroom as I jolted upright.Laughter erupted around me.Some students pointed while others struggled to hide their amusement. My breathing came in uneven gasps as memories of the hospital flooded back… the curse, the unbearable pain, the heart monitor flatlining, and Sebastian’s face appearing far too late.Slowly, the classroom came into focus. The rows of desks and green chalkboard, the afternoon sunlight spilling through the windows. Then my eyes landed on the teacher staring at me with concern.Reality hit me all at once.I was back..Back in my eighteen-year-old body. But… how? Before I could process another thought, the teacher was standing beside my desk.“Aurora, are you okay?”I opened my mouth, but no words came out.Was I okay?I had just died. It felt so real…“Aurora?” she called again. “Can you hear me?”I slowly shook my head. She frowned before pulling a hallway pass from her desk.“Go to
Aurora’s POV“Your condition is getting worse, Luna.”Doctor Freya’s voice was gentle, laced with sympathy, but she didn’t need to tell me what I already knew.I was dying. The shadow venom coursing through my body had spread too far. Every heartbeat felt weaker than the last, every breath heavier than the one before it. It was as though darkness itself had wrapped its fingers around my soul, patiently waiting to pull me away. There was only one regret left in my heart.“I know…” My voice came out weak, almost inaudible. “But… I need to see my mate… one last time.”A flicker of sadness crossed Dr. Freya’s face.“Unfortunately, the Alpha hasn’t come to see you.”Her words were soft, but they still cut through me like a blade.Sebastian…I had always known he never truly loved me.I was simply the mate the Moon Goddess had chosen for him, nothing more.Still, I had foolishly hoped that one day he would look at me the way other Alphas looked at their Lunas. Hoped that my love would event
