StevenSteven didn't even miss a beat when he saw Cassandra’s soon to be ex-husband. He saw the look that Nelson gave him. He knew that Nelson had seen it all, but he wasn't going to stress about it. To be truthful, it was rewarding to see the look of shock that was there on his face. It felt like a little bit of justice. He had cheated on Cassandra and hurt her. He deserved to see someone else have her then. Then maybe she would see how stupid he was. Steven didn't really give a fuck. He debated if he was even going to tell her and when it was all said and done, he was so satiated that it completely slipped his mind. The whole idea that he was going to keep his distance from Cassandra was obviously a lie that he told himself. He had all intentions on doing so. Nothing good would come of the truth being found out, but Steven couldn't handle it. He couldn't handle being without her. As soon as he had heard that she had just left Nelson, Steven knew that she would want to talk about it.
NelsonHe knew that he had made some mistakes. Nelson actually thought though, that he and Cassandra could get through it all and go on. They had been married for five years and in that time, he’d gotten to know his wife quite well. She was what many people would call a bleeding heart. She had always forgiven him in the past, all except that one time he told her that he had cheated on her. Of course, he had done it more than once, but it had taken her months to talk to him after she had found out and when she had finally said something, it was more or less her wish for a divorce because things were never going to be right between them. Naturally, that was not at all what he had wanted to hear. Once again, she had given him another answer that Nelson thought was poorly thought out. While Cassandra was convinced that she wanted a divorce, he knew that she didn't. She just needed some more time to recover. At least that's what he kept telling himself. So, when Cassandra told him off and
CassandraMeeting up with Nelson after not seeing him for so long was awkward. It wasn't just that it had been a while for the two of them, it was possibly because she was finally moving on. Nelson had always maintained that he wanted to stay together. She was the one who couldn't forgive, and in a way, it was her fault. Several people had said so, because she wasn't able to forgive and forget. She was told that marriages were working things out and many people believed that she should have forgiven Nelson. Cassandra just couldn't find it inside of her to do so.Seeing him was definitely awkward and different. He wanted to talk about the good old days, how happy they had been together, and Cassandra just wanted to move on. They needed to make decisions about all of the stuff that they had together. That's what the relationship had turned into, a bunch of stuff that they now had to fight over. She was not looking forward to it to say the least. Cassandra just wanted the chapter to be o
CassandraShe woke up with a start and looked over at the digital clock sitting on Steven’s bedside table. She was late. Cassandra had to go meet with Nelson to go over some of the details of the divorce. It wasn't a meeting that she was looking forward to by any stretch of the imagination, but Cassandra knew that it had to be done. She did not want to have to explain why she was late, especially when it had to do with her in another man's bed. They weren't technically divorced yet and that weighed on her head. After throwing clothes on, she raced over to her house to find Luke sitting outside in his car. She didn't know if he'd gone to the front door yet, so she made her way through the back and put on a bathrobe. She yawned real big as she was opening the door and told him to come in. “What are you doing sitting out there?”Her brother was eyeing her as he got out of his car and went in toward the house. “Where have you been?”“What do you mean? I have been here the whole time. I wa
StevenHe had been avoiding Cassandra because what he had to tell her was not anything that he wanted to say out loud. She was going to be upset, Steven knew it, and instead of getting it done and over with, pulling the bandage off quickly as it were, he had avoided it. Steven had run away, and it was just one more thing to tack onto the guilt that he felt.Watching her face crumble and feeling the pain coming off of her was more than he could handle. It was everything that he had worried would happen and more. Steven couldn't look at her; he couldn't look at himself. Before he could say or do anything else, the first tear fell down her cheek and Steven couldn't stand it. It was all his fault. He should have stopped it long before they both fell in love. How could he stop love though?“Please, Cassandra. I can't bear to see you cry.”Cassandra shook her head like she had no choice. “It's not like I want to cry, Steven. I don't want you to see me this way, to know what you can do to me
CassandraA week went by before Cassandra saw Steven again, and the only reason she saw him was because she went to his house and tracked him down. Cassandra didn't want to go to such lengths to see Steven, but it felt like he was avoiding her. She couldn't ask Luke what was going on with him or anything, because he was having his own issues. Cassandra didn't know what to do. The two of them had a great time together, and then it had all gone downhill in the morning.Cassandra understood all of that. She knew how her brother was and how he had a tendency to complicate things. She also knew that how she felt with Steven was better than she had felt in a very long time. It wasn't just her either. Her son was back from his week-long excursion at his dad's and after he had eaten something, the second thing he wanted to do was see if Uncle Luke and Steven could come by. Cassandra had made the phone call, hoping to see them for herself, but the two of them had been busy. So, that was what t
