CHAPTER 7: Living Together Part 2

I didn’t know she was living that kind of life. Given on how she lives in the past with her parents, her life now was not really good. But now that she is finally by my side, I will not let anything bad happened to her again. I will give her everything she wanted and let all her dream come true.

I noticed that she’s been quiet after she get on the car. And because I am driving, I can’t really see what was she was doing in her seat. But when I stop the car as the traffic light signal change I caught her looking at me but then look away after she saw me looked at her.

“Do you have something to say?”

She slowly turn her head to face me then look down while touching her left earlobe. “May nasabi po ba akong mali kanina sa daan?”

“What do you mean?”

“Nung naglalakad po tayo pabalik sa sasakyan, I was telling you about my story with the owner of the Hostel but then suddenly, nagbago ang itsura mo. Parang galit.”

Damn! I forgot to hide my face expression that time while thinking of her. Is she afraid of me now?

“I’m sorry. It’s not your fault. That time I was thinking something else. Yes! About work. I just can’t control my face expression. That’s when you saw me. Did it scare you?”

“No. No Sir--- I mean no. Okay lang. Nag-alala lang ako baka kasi may nabanggit akong bagay na hindi niyo nagustuhan.”

“If you are worried at something or something you are curious about, just ask me. After all we’re already a married couple.”

Tumango siya sa akin bilang sagot at ngumiti.

Nang mapansin kong nagbago na sa GO signal ang traffic light ay pinaandar ko na ulit ang sasakyan at nagpatuloy sa pagmamaneho.

Wala pang sampong minuto ay nakarating na din kami sa Villa ko. Bumukas ang automatic gate after ma-detect nito ang aking sasakyan. Pagkapasok ko sa looban ay ipinara ko ang aking sasakyan sa tapat ng main door ng bahay ko. Lumapit agad ang isa sa mga butler ng bahay ko sa akin at sinundan ako sa likod ng sasakyan para kunin ang maleta ni Colleen. Lumabas na din ng sasakyan si Colleen at saglit na napatingala para tignan ang bahay ko. Then my secretary came out with my Grandma. Ibinigay ko naman ang susi sa isa pang butler ng bahay para ipark ito.

“Iha, you’re finally here. Welcome home.” Masayang sinalubong ng yapos ni Lola si Colleen. Pagkatapos ay sabay hawak naman nito sa kanang kamay ni Colleen para ayain itong pumasok.

Lumapit sa akin si Dan at inabot ang brown envelope.

“You’re marriage certificate. And this. Certificate and proof of ownership. Nakapangalan na lahat kay Ms. Perez pati yung bahay na tutuluyan ng kaniyang kapatid.”

“Thank you. --- And one thing. You must remember to call her Mrs. Montenegro when we’re out of the company.”

“Yes boss.”

“Ethan! Come here for a moment.” Tawag sa akin ni lola sa may sala. Colleen was also there sitting beside her.

Naglakad ako papalapit sa kanila at umupo sa nakahiwalay na single sofa at humarap sa kanila.

“I already put Colleen’s things on your room. And don’t worry I already ask someone to tidy up all your things there. You and Colleen can now go to your room now.”

I glance on Colleen and I saw she’s signaling me something but I can’t figure it out so I just accepted my grandma’s arrangement for us without thinking.

My grandma then stand up and reach both my hand and Colleen and guide us upstairs. She open the door of my room then lead us to enter. I don’t know what my grandmother was thinking that moment but all we can do is follow her lead. When both me and Colleen already at the room my grandma looks to me with a very playful smile and wink at me.

Just like me, Colleen was just confused as me. She was giving me the look of “What’s going on now?” Then I just shrugged my shoulder a little bit.

Then my grandmother close the door. I thought she only just close it but when I tried to open it from inside to see her, the door is not opening. My grandma locked us. That’s when we realized what was grandma thinking.

“Is this what you are signaling me that time?”

She just nodded and said, “Grandma thought we were in love after we met at the blind date. Akala niya yun ang dahilan kung bakit ka pumayag sa kasal.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know that she will think like that. Don’t worry I will explain it to my grandma later at dinner.”

“No need. Sa tingin ko, masyadong masaya lamang si lola ngayong araw. She told me that time, her only one wish in this life was seeing you get married.”

“She really said that?--- By the way, if you want to change your clothes, there’s a separated room that way for you to change.”

Colleen just left and I sit at the corner of my bed. Seconds then minutes pass and Colleen finally back after changing her clothes in a very comfortable clothes. But then I started seeing Colleen walking in a slow motion while her every move looks like a leaves slowly falling in the ground. Her hair was waving like she was under the water and the color around her became pink. --- Why I find her so attractive with those common clothes of her? --- Wait did I just frozed? I saw Colleen was waving at me to notice her that’s when I snap back to reality.

“You’re already done?” I stand up and offer her to sit for a moment but I can’t see a chair nearby only the bed was there in the room. The atmosphere begin to awkward but I heard her chuckled softly.

“Don’t worry, I can sit here for a moment. I thought magpapalit ka din ng damit mo?”

“Ah y-yes.” And I rushed on walking out that room. Because I know that any moment I can’t no longer control myself.
