Chapter Thirty

Myla's POV

“Do not roll your eyes at me, young lady.” He winked at me. “I heard you are able to speak again?”

I smiled. “It isn’t normal, but it is better. I can stand and walk too.”

“Good. You have to stay here for at least one more night. As long as everything goes well, you can go home tomorrow.” Doc looked hopeful.

“Oh, on a separate note, Evie’s mom Mariah?”

“What happened?” I looked between Doc and Reiner who were sharing weird looks.

“Well, she denounced the pack and took off while you were out.”

“What, how could she! Did she take Evie?”

“No, no, Evie is still with Barrett and Jade. She left you a strange note.” Doc pulled an envelope from his pocket. As he handed it to me, I saw it had my name on it.

I took it from him. Ripping it open, I unfolded it and began to read.

I want to thank you for all you and your pack have done for me and for Evie. I know he is still hunting me so I must go. I hope my leaving will bring him away from your pack so you can go back to lea
