Spencer's POV

The cardiologist’s office smelled like fresh coffee and that sharp hospital cleaner they use everywhere.

We sat around a small table, Scarlett, me, Nicholas, and Valeria tucked in the corner chair like she was trying to disappear into it.

Aiden was still in his room, playing some game on the tablet they gave him. They said it was better to talk to us first and I greed. He didn’t need to hear all the details yet.

Dr. Malcolm was a tall guy with brown eyes and the kind of calm

Valeria's POV I crouched down in front of her, right there on the gravel drive, so we were eye level. "Hey," I said. "Look at me." She did, reluctant, eyes glassy but not spilling over, because apparently even here, standing outside with just me and Tyrone, she still hadn't let herself fully cry. "You are not stupid," I said. "Whoever told you that, they're wrong." "Nobody said it," Belle mumbled. "Grandma just says I have to try harder. Like trying harder is a thing I'm not already doing." "I believe you're trying," I said gently. "Nobody else does." She looked down at her shoes. "I hate piano now. I used to like it. Now every time I mess up a note I think about her face when Ms. Bianca calls to complain, and I just... I don't want to go near the piano bench anymore." "I know," I said. "It's hard to enjoy something when every mistake feels like proof of something bad about you." She looked up at that, surprised, like she hadn't expected me to actually understand.

Tyrone's POV I woke up on the office couch with a kink in my neck and the taste of bad coffee still in my mouth from the night before. The sky outside the window was just starting to lighten. I sat up, rubbed my face, and stood . My back ached, the couch was not built for sleeping. The connecting door to the bedroom was still closed. I opened it quietly. Valeria was just stepping out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body and another twisted around her hair, steam followed her out. She froze when she saw me. “Good Morning,” I said. “You slept in there?" "Yeah, would not recommend." On the bed, a neat pile of clothes had been laid out. Blouse, tailored pants, low heels. My grandmother’s taste, clean lines and sxpensive fabric. Valeria looked at the clothes, then at me. “She’s going to keep doing this, isn’t she?” "Probably," I said. She didn't say anything. I walked past her into the bathroom, closed the door, and turned on the shower. Hot water helped the sti

Tyrone's POV The door clicked shut behind my grandmother. For three full seconds I forgot how to move. Valeria stood in the middle of my bedroom wearing almost nothing. The black nightgown was so thin I could see the exact shape of her nipples pressing against the fabric. The neckline plunged low, showing the full soft curve of both breasts and the warm shadow between them. The edge sat high on her thighs, leaving long stretches of bare skin that looked smooth enough to mark. Every time she breathed, the lace shifted and clung tighter. My cock hardened instantly under the towel, then she moved. She spun around, lunged for the bed, and dove under the covers like the floor was on fire. She yanked the heavy duvet up over her head until only a messy pile of dark hair stuck out the top. The entire blanket mound shifted she tried to bury herself deeper. One bare foot kicked out for a second before disappearing again. I stared at the shaking lump on my bed. "You can come out f

Valeria's POV Tyrone's Grandma stepped fully into the room and closed the door behind her with a soft click. The maid stayed by her side, still holding the shopping bag like it contained something fragile. "Ma'am," I forced a polite smile even though my stomach was already twisting. “I mean, Mrs. Yates...” “Stop that.” She waved a hand. “We are family now. You call me Grandma Lynette. Or Nana Lyn, the way Belle does. I will not have my grandson’s wife addressing me like I am some distant board member.” “Grandma Lyn,” I corrected, the words feeling strange in my mouth. “Better.” She turned to the maid. “You can leave the bag and go. Thank you.” The maid set the bag on the low table near the couch, gave a small nod, and slipped out. The door shut again. Now it was just the two of us and the sound of the shower still running behind the bathroom door. Steam was already seeping out from under the bathroom door in thin white curls, carrying the clean scent of his soap into the

Valeria's POV I froze. Tyrone’s face stayed blank for one second too long, then he gave a short, confused laugh that did not reach his eyes. “I’m not sure what you mean,” he said. "He's good, I'll give him that." He looked at Tyrone. "You almost had me too, for about ten seconds, right up until I looked at her face." "I don't know what you're talking about," Tyrone said. "I've known this woman since the day she was born," Spencer said. "She does not do spontaneous, that's Aiden’s style. Valeria plans everything, overthinks everything. She's only dated one person in her entire adult life, and I how bad the relationship was." He turned back to me. "You couldn't look me in the eye once, the entire dinner." I felt my face burn, my hands were cold. I wanted to disappear into the floor. "You covered for her every time she started to trip over her own story," Spencer kept going “That is not how two people who just got married for real act. That is how two people who made a deal act.

Valeria's POV I wanted the floor to open up and swallow me whole. "I'm not..." I started. "Of course," Karolina's voice cut me off. “That explains everything. She trapped him. One night, one mistake, and suddenly my son is standing in a courthouse signing his life away.” "Excuse me," Mom said, voice going very quiet. "Gold diggers rush," Karolina said. "They rush because they know if they wait, someone smarter gets a chance to talk sense into the man they've targeted." "Do not," Mom said, standing up so fast her chair scraped hard against the floor, "call my daughter a gold digger." "I'll call it what it is." Karolina said. "You don't know a single thing about her," Mom said, voice rising. "My daughter has her own money. She's a cardiac surgeon, one of the best in this state, and before that I was a surgeon too, the best in the country at what I did, so she doesn't need your son's bank account for anything. She built her entire life with her own two hands." "Then why the rush
