Chapter 6 Blind Date

"Shut up, Nada," Lea said to Nada, who was still nervous. "It can't be him. I no longer believe in bonds like that, because they are surprisingly fragile and can be broken by anyone."

Nada growled and muttered Garry's name behind her grunt. Lea snorted and stared out the cab window.

The green light flashed and the taxi he was in drove off again. Nada insisted howling softly at the Bentley next to the taxi and it hadn't moved because it was in a different lane and still stuck at a red light.

"Don't mention that name again, Nada, he's just a useless, accursed hypocrite who is cowardly and immoral. Remember, we came back here to turn things around, to teach them a lesson, so forget about everyone, including that man. He was just a bellboy and it was just a one night stand between us. Nothing more and will always be like that."

Nada cries a weak growl and the silence returned. She knows the wounds that Lea has carried over the past five years and what they have experienced has forged Lea to become stronger and closed her heart to her romantic side. Leah didn't want to be hurt again.

Lea closed her eyes and thought a lot about herjob and plans for herself and Luke. There is much to be done from now on. She came back not only to reclaim the life she had taken five years ago, in a dishonorable and demeaning way, Lea also had to put Luke's situation and condition first. The child needed the best and Leah would do her best when it came to Luke. She clenched her fists and made up her mind. There's no turning back now.

Inside the bentley, Black continues to feel restless and tells Jayden that he smells his mate's pheromones from five years ago. Black was sure that his mate was around him now.

Jayden snorted and tried to pressure Black. "I know who you mean, Black. The woman who knowingly broke our bonds unilaterally and just ran away. However, I think you're wrong. I didn't smell or taste anything."

Black growled in protest and believed that his smell couldn't be wrong. It was a scent he was very familiar with, even though five years had passed.

"Black, come on," Jayden snapped angrily. "That woman is not someone who deserves to be called anymore. I will never be able to forget how hurt we felt at that time. I will not forget her and she also does not deserve to be forgiven."

Black's weak whine stated in his defense that Nada and her owner must have been in a lot of trouble so they chose to leave and break their bond.

Jayden ignored Black and told him to shut up. He was trying to get his mind off of his other work, when he felt his phone vibrate in his coat pocket.

Jayden took the phone and saw the name on the screen. It was his father--Andreas Franzine.

"Hello, Dad," Jayden greeted.

"Jayden, where are you now?" asked Andreas without preamble. "Come to my place now."

"Hm? What's wrong, Dad? I'm on my way to an event I have to attend."

"Jayden, put your work on hold. There are more important matters right now. I've set up a blind date for you, with the daughter of the Bird Valley pack. She's very beautiful and intelligent. I think she'd be a match for you."

Black awakens again and starts growling, warning Jayden about Lea and Nada for him.

"Don't be ridiculous, Dad. You know that I already have a mate and I will never let go of my bond with her," Jayden said in a firm tone. His forehead creased at the sound of his father laughing sarcastically on the other channel.

"Who? The she-wolf who left you five years ago? The princess of Windclaw who was banished from her pack for being rebellious? Come on, Jayden, you should have forgotten about her!"

"No!" Jayden denied angrily. "You have no right to say that, Dad."

"Why? You are my only son, who has the duty to lead the Horizon pack. You need to quickly undergo the mating ceremony and live a stable life as an alpha for our pack. Don't keep making excuses to avoid marriage!" Andreas snapped in a sharp tone.

Jayden snorted angrily. "Don't ever force your way into my life, Dad," Jayden hissed. "I'm not going to say it again for you, this is the last time. Listen carefully to what I'm saying. I already have a mate and I will continue to be with her, no matter who you set me up with! I will get married when I have time with my mate, not because of coercion from you or reasons to lead our pack!"

"Jayden, you can't--"

"Yes! I can do whatever I want, Dad! Come on, I'll be the place of my even soon and I don't have much time to talk. Bye, Dad!"

Jayden hung up the phone without waiting for his father to answer. He is angry and can't stop thinking about the stubbornness of his father who always tries to set him up with women who don't even want him to know their names.

Andreas has always said that Jayden should get married soon, not only because he is now 25 years old, which is enough to start living a stable life and lead their pack, but also for him to forget and let go of the woman he had marked five years ago.

Black snored in approval of his attitude and actions towards Andreas earlier.

"Black, do you think we'll be able to see her again?" muttered Jayden to the Black inside him.

Black voiced his conviction, as he could never forget Nada.

"It's been more than five years. It's possible she has forgotten about us," Jayden continued.

Black disagrees and assures Jayden that they will soon meet the woman and her wolves. Jayden took a deep breath and closed his eyes as the traffic slowed down due to the slight traffic jam that was holding him back.

Jayden's phone rang again and this time it was Liam Ginns who came up. The man was Jayden's closest cousin.

"Hello," said Jayden.

"Jay!" Liam exclaims happily. "Where are you?"

"I'm on my way. What's wrong?" Jayden asked curtly. He moves the phone away from his ear slightly because of the loud noise in the background of his conversation with Liam.

"Ah, thank goodness. I thought you wouldn't come," Liam exclaimed happily. "A lot of people are here already. I'll introduce you to some people I know."

Jayden snorted. "Don't tell me you've been in cahoots with my father," Jayden hissed displeasedly. "The old man has again arranged a blind date for me."

Liam laughs nervously. "Oh come on, my handsome cousin, you know that I'm always on your side."

"I'll be there in about ten minutes. Now hang up and wait for me."

Jayden hung up the phone and stared at the highway ahead, wondering what situation he would find himself in. His father had mobilized all of his cousins and friends to persuade Jayden to marry. He forces them all to set up dates for Jayden for various reasons.

In fact, even though at the event he will be attending in the next few minutes, Jayden is the main sponsor and he is given the time and place to speak as his own company representative, Jayden suspects that his father may have engaged his cousins or staff to set Jayden up with the women who would present.

Jayden took a deep breath and determined not to linger at the cocktail party and to head home as soon as his job was done. He doesn't really like crowds, especially when he knows that a trap is prepared for him there.

But when he arrived at the reception, a familiar figure came into his sight.

Mate? How dare she show up?
