"Shut up, Nada," Lea said to Nada, who was still nervous. "It can't be him. I no longer believe in bonds like that, because they are surprisingly fragile and can be broken by anyone."
Nada growled and muttered Garry's name behind her grunt. Lea snorted and stared out the cab window.
The green light flashed and the taxi he was in drove off again. Nada insisted howling softly at the Bentley next to the taxi and it hadn't moved because it was in a different lane and still stuck at a red light.
"Don't mention that name again, Nada, he's just a useless, accursed hypocrite who is cowardly and immoral. Remember, we came back here to turn things around, to teach them a lesson, so forget about everyone, including that man. He was just a bellboy and it was just a one night stand between us. Nothing more and will always be like that."
Nada cries a weak growl and the silence returned. She knows the wounds that Lea has carried over the past five years and what they have experienced has forged Lea to become stronger and closed her heart to her romantic side. Leah didn't want to be hurt again.
Lea closed her eyes and thought a lot about herjob and plans for herself and Luke. There is much to be done from now on. She came back not only to reclaim the life she had taken five years ago, in a dishonorable and demeaning way, Lea also had to put Luke's situation and condition first. The child needed the best and Leah would do her best when it came to Luke. She clenched her fists and made up her mind. There's no turning back now.
Inside the bentley, Black continues to feel restless and tells Jayden that he smells his mate's pheromones from five years ago. Black was sure that his mate was around him now.
Jayden snorted and tried to pressure Black. "I know who you mean, Black. The woman who knowingly broke our bonds unilaterally and just ran away. However, I think you're wrong. I didn't smell or taste anything."
Black growled in protest and believed that his smell couldn't be wrong. It was a scent he was very familiar with, even though five years had passed.
"Black, come on," Jayden snapped angrily. "That woman is not someone who deserves to be called anymore. I will never be able to forget how hurt we felt at that time. I will not forget her and she also does not deserve to be forgiven."
Black's weak whine stated in his defense that Nada and her owner must have been in a lot of trouble so they chose to leave and break their bond.
Jayden ignored Black and told him to shut up. He was trying to get his mind off of his other work, when he felt his phone vibrate in his coat pocket.
Jayden took the phone and saw the name on the screen. It was his father--Andreas Franzine.
"Hello, Dad," Jayden greeted.
"Jayden, where are you now?" asked Andreas without preamble. "Come to my place now."
"Hm? What's wrong, Dad? I'm on my way to an event I have to attend."
"Jayden, put your work on hold. There are more important matters right now. I've set up a blind date for you, with the daughter of the Bird Valley pack. She's very beautiful and intelligent. I think she'd be a match for you."
Black awakens again and starts growling, warning Jayden about Lea and Nada for him.
"Don't be ridiculous, Dad. You know that I already have a mate and I will never let go of my bond with her," Jayden said in a firm tone. His forehead creased at the sound of his father laughing sarcastically on the other channel.
"Who? The she-wolf who left you five years ago? The princess of Windclaw who was banished from her pack for being rebellious? Come on, Jayden, you should have forgotten about her!"
"No!" Jayden denied angrily. "You have no right to say that, Dad."
"Why? You are my only son, who has the duty to lead the Horizon pack. You need to quickly undergo the mating ceremony and live a stable life as an alpha for our pack. Don't keep making excuses to avoid marriage!" Andreas snapped in a sharp tone.
Jayden snorted angrily. "Don't ever force your way into my life, Dad," Jayden hissed. "I'm not going to say it again for you, this is the last time. Listen carefully to what I'm saying. I already have a mate and I will continue to be with her, no matter who you set me up with! I will get married when I have time with my mate, not because of coercion from you or reasons to lead our pack!"
"Jayden, you can't--"
"Yes! I can do whatever I want, Dad! Come on, I'll be the place of my even soon and I don't have much time to talk. Bye, Dad!"
Jayden hung up the phone without waiting for his father to answer. He is angry and can't stop thinking about the stubbornness of his father who always tries to set him up with women who don't even want him to know their names.
Andreas has always said that Jayden should get married soon, not only because he is now 25 years old, which is enough to start living a stable life and lead their pack, but also for him to forget and let go of the woman he had marked five years ago.
Black snored in approval of his attitude and actions towards Andreas earlier.
"Black, do you think we'll be able to see her again?" muttered Jayden to the Black inside him.
Black voiced his conviction, as he could never forget Nada.
"It's been more than five years. It's possible she has forgotten about us," Jayden continued.
Black disagrees and assures Jayden that they will soon meet the woman and her wolves. Jayden took a deep breath and closed his eyes as the traffic slowed down due to the slight traffic jam that was holding him back.
Jayden's phone rang again and this time it was Liam Ginns who came up. The man was Jayden's closest cousin.
"Hello," said Jayden.
"Jay!" Liam exclaims happily. "Where are you?"
"I'm on my way. What's wrong?" Jayden asked curtly. He moves the phone away from his ear slightly because of the loud noise in the background of his conversation with Liam.
"Ah, thank goodness. I thought you wouldn't come," Liam exclaimed happily. "A lot of people are here already. I'll introduce you to some people I know."
Jayden snorted. "Don't tell me you've been in cahoots with my father," Jayden hissed displeasedly. "The old man has again arranged a blind date for me."
Liam laughs nervously. "Oh come on, my handsome cousin, you know that I'm always on your side."
"I'll be there in about ten minutes. Now hang up and wait for me."
Jayden hung up the phone and stared at the highway ahead, wondering what situation he would find himself in. His father had mobilized all of his cousins and friends to persuade Jayden to marry. He forces them all to set up dates for Jayden for various reasons.
In fact, even though at the event he will be attending in the next few minutes, Jayden is the main sponsor and he is given the time and place to speak as his own company representative, Jayden suspects that his father may have engaged his cousins or staff to set Jayden up with the women who would present.
Jayden took a deep breath and determined not to linger at the cocktail party and to head home as soon as his job was done. He doesn't really like crowds, especially when he knows that a trap is prepared for him there.
But when he arrived at the reception, a familiar figure came into his sight.
Mate? How dare she show up?
"This is quite a big event, so make sure everything will go perfectly," said Nina Kirk, owner of Flower modeling agency that represents Diamond Entertainment in the Skyhigh area. She ordered some of his helper to check and fix this and that, scolding those who dissatisfied her and giving little praise to workers she found satisfactory.Nina has high standards and excellent performance in her work, so she was appointed by Diamond entertainment to represent them as agent at Skyhigh.Nina herself was just informed yesterday by an official from the Diamond entertainment head office that the model she will represent will come and participate in tonight's cocktail party, which is actually intended as well as a pre-audition event to select a model who will represent the hosting company as a their brand ambassador, namely the Franzine industry which is the largest industrial center in Skyhigh which controls the world of entertainment, hospitality and tourism.More or less Nina knows how much
"This is Meyra Atkins, the newcomer actress who won the best newcomer award at a film festival two months ago," Liam said. The woman named Meyra Atkins who was introduced by him reached out to Jayden in a shy manner. "Hello, Mr. Jayden, it is very nice to meet you," Meyra said softly. Jayden took Meyra's hand for a moment and quickly let go again. His face remained expressionless. "Yes, thank you." Meyra looked a little surprised to see Jayden's cold attitude. She tried to be bolder and more intimate. "I think you should see the movie I'm in, Mr. Jayden. It's a great story about--""I'm sorry, Ms. Meyra, but I don't like movies," Jayden cut in dryly. He looks at Liam with raised eyebrows. "How long will this event last?" he asked Liam, who looked uncomfortable because Meyra looked like she wanted to cry at Jayden's attitude earlier. "In a minute," Liam answered nervously. "You should sit down at this table Jay, I'll make sure the emcee doesn't take too long to wrap this up." Liam
"Why are we giving this to?" asked Lea, when she received the box given by Nina. "What is this?"The box was beautifully wrapped and decorated, with floral ornaments and ribbons. Nina gave it to Lea at the exit door near the lobby."This is just a gift that you can give to the jury, choose anyone from the judges that I have previously introduced to you," Nina said lightly. "It's nothing, it's just something small. They will be very happy to receive it. This gift has been prepared by our company since before the event started. It's common here, giving one of the judges or interviewers a small gift to make our chances a little bit better and bigger."Lea stared at the box in her hands with great doubt. This seemed strange to her, because giving gifts to the jury or the interviewer could be seen as an attempt at bribery. In America, there is no such tradition. Everything must be done transparently and there must be no element of bribery in it, even though in practice fraud still occurs h
Lea approached Jayden, saw that he was standing alone and no one spoke to him. Lea thought that they were looking down on Jayden because he was just a bellboy and maybe because his life wasn't so good that people didn't think he existed.Lea was annoyed, why are people so mean and only look at someone's status. One thing Lea didn't know was that they didn't approach Jayden because they saw his cold attitude and anger towards Fely. Jayden's dark aura scared them away.Jayden looked at the woman, with beauty, grace and confidence, stepped closer to him. He had never forgotten Lea in the past five years, searching for and missing her every moment.Lea had made a deep impression on him, the only woman he had marked and would always be his mate, even though she ultimately disappointed Jayden.Inside Jayden, his wolf Black yelped with pleasure, feeling the scent of his mate growing stronger and when his female owner stood right in front of Jayden, Black nearly jumped in too much joy."Hi,"
"So he has received the box and is going to give it to one of the jurors?" asked Fely to make sure once again. She had seen Lea from a distance, talking to someone she didn't recognize because Lea's back was blocking her view. However, she saw Lea hold out the box in her hand to the person. Nina nodded confidently. "I think she might have given it to someone. I introduced her to the judges and they were impressed by her appearance, but--""They will be even more impressed by the cheating she did when whoever received the box saw what was in it," said Fely in a satisfied tone. A sly smile graced her lips. She had imagined the scene where the jury who received the box given by Lea opened it and saw what was inside.A very sexy and provocative lingerie, will make anyone think dirty about the person who gave it, especially at an event like this. Fely was very satisfied to imagine the next incident, where Lea would be banned and blacklisted from all matters related to the world of ent
"Lea, hey, where are you going," said Nina, trying to prevent Lea from leaving to follow the waiter. "This show isn't over yet!" Lea turned and sighed in annoyance. "Silence, Nina, I hope you know your place. I have more important business than arguing endlessly with the two people over there who made you their slave. Remember, I'm still under Diamond entertainment, so take sides carefully." Nina backed away with reluctance to hear Lea's words and fearless attitude and let Lea go.The waiter pointed at the special lift to the penthouse which was on the top floor of this luxurious five star hotel. "You can use the card to get on and off," said the waiter. "Thank you.""Your welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay here."Lea nodded, got into the elevator and pressed the card into the control screen. The elevator doors closed and with a soft hum brought Lea upstairs. Hard to believe, Jay used her credit card to rent a penthouse? Has he gone mad? He probably didn't know how hard it
Lea was pinned against the wall, her neck in the grip of Jayden's sharp claws. Jayden's silver eyes stared into hers and Lea saw sharp fangs peeking at the corners of his mouth when Jayden got angry. Nada groaned in fear, feeling Black's anger that threatened Lea's safety through Jayden's actions."Jay, can you please calm down? What are you so angry about? Did I offend you?" Lea said hoarsely, as Jayden's claws pressed against her throat. Her pretty face paled and her eyes stared at Jayden with a look of confusion rather than fear. "Amazing," Jayden hissed angrily. "You don't even realize your mistake and are still wondering?" Inside Lea, Nada yelped softly, trying to persuade Black. The big black wolf growled softly and asked Jayden to let Lea go first, because she was starting to choke. Jayden must not hurt Lea, because Black is worried that he will regret later. After all, Lea is his mate. The situation is complicated by Lea's unconventional attitude towards Jayden, but Bla
Lea woke up with a slight headache. She couldn't sleep well because there were too many things going around in her head, especially about her children--Luke, and Jayden--her mate. She still couldn't tell if it was right to let Jayden be near Luke. She felt a little awry because at his age, Luke certainly needed a father figure to fill his life and Jayden also had the right to know and close with his own flesh and blood. However, Jayden's erratic life and unpredictable temperament leave Lea bewildered. That man is so unpredictable.Lea looked at the small clock on the nightstand and rushed over. She couldn't be late for the Moonlight Hotel today because it was audition day. Lea bathed and dressed, polished her face with good makeup and still looked natural. She had chosen the dress she would wear today. A knee-length dress made of the number one quality silk that only a few produced, was soft and wrapped around her tall, plump body in a perfect fit. The dress was dark green in colo
