The sun was dipping low in the sky, casting long glowing shadows across the expansive driveway of the Blackmoon packhouse.

The low rumble of engines broke the late afternoon calm, as a sleek convoy of black SUVs rounded the corner and slowed to a halt before the front step.

The lead vehicle, a matte black Range Rover with tinted windows hissed as it parked, the engine cutting off with a soft growl.

Alpha Damian stepped out first, Tall, broad shoulders and radiating with power even in silence, his mere presence sent a ripple through the surrounding air.

Dressed in charcoal grey jacket over a black shirt and matching slacks, his sharp eyes scanned the estate instinctively before softening just slightly at the sound of footsteps.

Hope.

Silent as ever, but bright eyed and eager, she ran straight to him, her little arms thrown around his neck as he knelt to catch her.

Damian held her close, his features softening just for her. She pulled back slightly and peered at the car behind him, ti

The moonlight spilled through the windows of the old watchtower, casting pale silver on Marisa’s face as she pulled back her cloak and revealed a blade wrapped in black silk. The steel beneath shimmered faintly, as though moonlight had been trapped inside.“The Moonfang Blade.” She whispered, unwrapping it carefully.Melody’s eyes widened.“It’s real?” Marisa smirked “Forged by witches of the old tribes. Dipped in the blood of several Alphas. It can do more than kill, it can severe bonds. It weakens the link between an Alpha and his pack… and his Luna.”Marisa stepped forward cautiously, her gaze locked on the blade. “ You want to use this on Damian?”Marisa scoffed “No. I want Damian to win.”Melody’s brows furrowed “But Laura… she’s his Luna.”“They’re fated mates.” Marisa hissed “ But even fate can be deceived. They’re putting on a show can’t you see? Damian may have fire in his veins, but that silver haired runt is hiding something? I don’t want to kill him. I want to to her plac

“You’re wrong.” The words rang out low and sharp. Alpha Damian had spoken. All eyes turned. “She has a wolf.” He continued voice steady and sharp as steel, “ But I forbade her to shift.” Shock struck the crowns like a whip. “ You what?” Elder Haroun’s brows furrowed. “I forbade it.” Damian repeated. “As her Alpha and her mate. Her wolf is dangerous, unpredictable. It isn’t her fault. She has power tied to ancient bloodlines, if she shifted, I fear it would unbalance the trial and draw attention we weren’t ready for.” Whispers bloomed into roars. “That is against the rules.” One Elder snapped. “ All Lunas and Alphas must shift for the trial. No exceptions.” “And if she can’t?” Another snarled “She is disqualified. You are disqualified.” Amber began to coil in Laura’s chest. Her hands balled into fists. Her lips parted, then shut. Elara stirred. “Let me.” A growl came from within. “ No.” Laura whispered internally “ not now.” But her fury was rising. At Marisa. At the Elders

Damian brushed his hand against Laura’s back ever so slightly. “She is mine.” He said again voice like steel.“By bond and by fate.”The Elders observed silently. Then the eldest among them. Elder Haroun. A man with hair as white as snow and eyes piercing like that of a hawk, rose from his seat.“ Very well.” He said, voice echoing across the room. “ Then let the trials begin.”——————Hours later, behind the curtained partitions of the Damian’s quarters, the act wore off.He slammed the door closed behind them. “ You will keep your head down.” Laura barely flinched. She stood still, eyes calm fixed on a distant point in the room.“ You will speak only when spoken to. And you will not embarrass me.”“Of course.” She said softly.Damian stepped closer, his presence menacing in the small space “You may be my mate, but that bond means nothing here. Do you understand? You’re here to play a part. That’s it.”She nodded “I understand.”He grabbed her chin, forcing her to meet his eyes. “ Yo

The heavy scent of pine and the crispness of the evening air clung to Laura’s skin as she knelt before Alpha Damian. The moon glowed high above the sacred circle where pack members stood in a solemn ring, eyes reflecting reverence and curiosity. With her right hand over her heart, and the other extended in submission, Laura’s voice rang with unshakable conviction.“I swear allegiance to Alpha Damian of the Blackmoon pack, and the pack itself. I am yours to command.”The bond snapped into place like a tightly drawn string released, and a jolt of power surged between them. Damian Silver eyes gleamed, flickering with the primal energy of the mate bond. Without hesitation, he stepped forward and gripped her wrist. Firm and commanding.“Then you’ll come with me to the kings palace, the competition begins.”There was no request in his voice only dominance laced with desire and a need to secure power. Marisa would have been needed as Luna for the competition, but due to her actions. Her pr

“She was being chased by Caleb Resse.” He sniffed and held Hope closer. “She told me that Hope was with her and the pack house was on fire. I ran to the car and sped off the the airport. All the while she kept giving me updates, even though she was being hunted, she made sure that women and children even old wolves were perfected in the safe house beneath the pack house.”He ran his hands through Hope’s hair. Laura sat on the floor with a sad expression on her face. Damian continued “By the time I got to the pack, everything was a mess, the pack was destroyed, there was fire and screams. Rogues moving here and there like they were in their territory. They attacked me too but I fought my hardest and went in search of my family. Just at the door I saw my fathers body on welcome doormat, his eyes were plugged out. And there was a gaping hole in his chest.” Laura flinched and Hope whispered silently.“The sight was bad. I moved up the stairs and found my mothers body hanging over the r

As he stepped out of the office and rounded the corner, he saw it.There, lying in glittering shards across the floor was the vase. Her Vase. His heartbeat slowed painfully as he approached, his eyes locked in the pieces like they were sacred relics desecrated.Laura stood frozen beside the wreckage, guilt written all over her face. Her hands trembled as she bent down slightly, instinctively moving to pick it up.“I’m so sorry—I didn’t see it, I didn’t mean to—I’ll pick it up.” She said quickly trying to make amends.“Don’t touch it.” Damian’s voice cracked like a whip across the room, deeper and darker than she had ever heard it. His power rolled off him in waves, and for a moment, Laura felt her breath hitch not from fear but from confusion. He dropped to his knees, his fingers moving slowly, carefully over the shards, picking each one up like it was made of paper thin glass and would vanish if he breathed too hard. The silence that followed was suffocating, only broken by the fain
