Bartram hesitated, but he knew that he had to because Luna was going to stay mad at him.

“You can't meet them because they don't want you."

Luna's eyes widened, and she felt her heart crumble into many pieces. She wasn't expecting that; they didn't want her.

Tears welled up in her eyes, and every thought she had about meeting them crumbled. What was she expecting? She wasn't always wanted in the first place.

“Why do they not want me?” Her lips quivered as she inquired.

Bartarm took her hand. “They blamed you for destroying their daughter if she hadn't given birth to you as they had instructed her. She would have been the queen and wouldn't be hated.”

Her face went pale as the words hit her; she couldn't understand what logic her grandparents had. If they wanted her mother, why was she different?
