LOGINFor centuries, werewolves and vampires have lived on opposite sides of an ancient war, each taught to fear and hate the other. Seraphina Vale has just become the Alpha of Mooncrest after her father's death. Young, fierce, and determined to prove that she can protect her people, she refuses to show weakness, even when the most powerful vampire in existence crosses into her territory. Lucien Draven, the immortal Vampire King, has come to Mooncrest with a warning: someone is secretly attacking both species and trying to ignite another war. But the moment Seraphina and Lucien see each other, their wolves and instincts recognize something neither of them expected. They are mates. Seraphina refuses to accept it. How could her mate be the king of the creatures she has been raised to despise? Lucien, equally unwilling to surrender his pride to a werewolf, gives her the rejection she demands. But rejecting a fated bond comes with consequences. As mysterious attacks spread across both kingdoms, Seraphina and Lucien are forced into an uneasy alliance. The more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to deny the attraction between them—and the more they realize that the enemy they fear may not be vampires or werewolves at all. Someone has been manipulating both kingdoms for centuries. And their greatest weapon is the broken bond between the Alpha and the Vampire King. Now Seraphina must choose between the hatred she inherited and the love she never expected, while Lucien must decide whether he is willing to sacrifice his crown for the woman who once rejected him. Because if the prophecy is true, their love may save both kingdoms or their bond may become the reason one of them dies.

CHAPTER ONE Amelia stood at the end of Mooncrest's great hall, staring through the tall windows at the dark forest beyond. There was no singing of the birds or the chirping of insects, not even the distant howl of a wolf. She noticed the silence, not the peaceful kind, the dangerous kind. The kind that makes the entire forest hold its breath as if the world were about to end. Something was wrong; she could feel it beneath her skin. Her Wolf had been restless for hours, pacing inside her mind and refusing to settle. " Where are the guards?" Amelia turned around and asked her Beta, Rowan. Beta Rowan stood several feet in front of her. He was one of the few people in Mooncrest she completely trusted, and tonight even his usual calm expression was tense. "I still think we're being watched," Amelia said, and turned around. Her gaze swept the dark forest one more time, but she couldn't sense anything more than the danger she felt earlier in the night. Three days ago, Amelia had buried her father; the next day, she defeated four wolves who had challenged her for her father's throne; yesterday, the pack of Mooncrest had acknowledged her as their Alpha. "They have been doubled, just as you ordered, Alpha " Amelia looked back towards the forest; there should have been sounds- birds singing, insects chirping, or even the owls hooting in the distance. "Make sure the East gate is well guarded" "Yes, Alpha " The Beta bowed and left the room. Amelia reached into her mind and asked her wolf, "Can you sense what it is?" Her wolf took a deep breath and replied, "No, but it's getting closer." A feeling swept through her, a feeling she had not allowed herself to feel since she was born. Fear. She refused to let it weigh her down; instead, she grabbed her silver sword from the table and walked upstairs. Amelia couldn't sleep through the night; she tossed and turned as a deep sense of danger gnawed at her, and before sunrise she was in her wolf form, patrolling the forest's perimeter with her Beta and soldiers. Amelia stopped suddenly, her ears lifted, and she sniffed the air; something was wrong, but she couldn't just place what it was. Spread out." The soldiers obeyed and scattered in different directions, searching for what they didn't know. "Alpha!" Amelia turned toward the voice. "What is it?" There's something here", one of the soldiers shouted. Amelia ran to the part of the forest the voice had come from. On the ground lay a lifeless body; his lips were already purple, his face white, and he lay twisted like a person who had died a very painful death. It was one of Mooncrest's patrolling guards. On the side of his neck were two identical tooth marks. Beta Rowan shouted from his own side of the forest, Alpha! There are more bodies" By the time they reached the edge of the forest, Amelia had counted seven bodies. They were all wolves, soldiers of Mooncrest, all drained of their own blood, with two identical tooth marks on each side of their necks Amelia stared at the bodies, anger rolling through her like waves. These were her people, the people she swore to protect a few days ago, and someone had entered her territory and slaughtered them without making a sound. Such a thing had never happened before; she had heard stories of creatures feeding on others' blood to survive, but she had never believed it. She thought it was all folktales, but she was staring at the evidence with her own eyes Her mind already registered who the culprits were: those pale, lifeless-looking creatures without a heart. The Vampires.CHAPTER SIXAMELIA'S POVThe prophecy was clear. Our rejection hadn't just been a personal choice; it had been a catalyst. By rejecting Lucien, I hadn't saved my people. I had opened the door for the very enemy we were now fighting. The bond wasn't just a romantic tie. It was a seal, and I had broken it.For several minutes, I remained on the cold stone floor, staring at the open book as though the words might rearrange themselves into something less terrifying. I wanted to believe there was another explanation, some missing passage that would prove I had misunderstood everything. But the ancient writing remained unchanged, its crimson ink dark against the yellowed pages.I had rejected the Vampire King because I believed I was protecting my people. I had watched seven of my soldiers lie dead in the forest, their blood drained from their bodies, and I had blamed his kind. Even after discovering that someone was framing both kingdoms, I had continued to treat Lucien as an enemy I could
CHAPTER FIVEAmelia stared at the scroll for over an hour. Every fiber of her being told her it was a trap, but the logic of the dead soldier outweighed her fear. She dressed in leather armor, gripped her sword, and rode out under the cover of a New Moon. The Whispering Gorge was a narrow canyon where the wind created eerie, flute-like sounds against the rocks. Lucien was already there, leaning against a jagged pillar of stone, looking as effortless and arrogant as the day they met."You came," he said, his voice echoing."Don't mistake necessity for desire," Amelia replied, keeping her distance. "Why am I here, Lucien?""I suspect we are both being lied to," Lucien said, pushing off the stone. "My people are dying. Not by the hand of your wolves, but by something that mimics them."Amelia stiffened. "The soldiers I found dead, the bite marks were wrong. They weren't yours."Lucien’s expression softened slightly. "Then we have a common enemy. Someone is deliberately slaughtering our k
CHAPTER FOUR The days following the rejection were a blur of physical and mental torture.Amelia could barely remember what happened from one hour to the next. Morning became night, and night became morning without any real difference between them. She moved through Mooncrest as though she were trapped inside a fog, performing the duties expected of an Alpha while feeling as though some essential part of her had been ripped away. She felt as if a limb had been amputated, but the ghost of it still itched and burned. The pain was everywhere. It settled behind her ribs when she breathed. It crawled through her veins when she tried to sleep. Sometimes, she would wake suddenly in the middle of the night with her hand pressed against her chest, convinced for one terrible second that she could still feel the bond. Then reality would return.Lucien had rejected her too.The memory alone was enough to make her chest tighten. Her wolf was in a state of constant rebellion, pacing the confines o
CHAPTER THREEAmelia felt a sickening pull in her gut, an invisible chain dragging her toward him.It was not something she could see, yet she could feel it with terrifying clarity. Every nerve in her body seemed to recognize him before her mind could reject him. Her wolf stirred beneath her skin, restless and desperate, as if it had been waiting for this exact moment all her life.Every instinct in her body screamed to throw herself into his arms, to scent his neck, to claim him.The urge was almost unbearable. Her fingers trembled at her sides as she fought against it. Her body wanted to move forward, but her heart screamed at her to run. The scent of Lucien surrounded her, dark and intoxicating, wrapping around her senses until it became difficult to think clearly. But then the image of the purple-lipped corpses flashed in her mind. One after another.Bodies lying motionless in the aftermath of the massacre. Faces she knew. People she had grown up with. People who had laughed with
