6. SIN

“How’s everything going?”

“Fine.” I turned my head to stare out the window again.

Draven had asked Bella to give me a lift into town. The ride had been silent and slightly awkward. I had stared out the window for the whole drive but I hadn’t missed the glances Bella gave me as we drove. Had her alpha told her that I bit him?

“Sin, can you look at me?” Draven asked softly.

I sighed. “Everything’s fine. I only talk to Bella and sometimes her Alpha. They don’t bother me and they always make sure that I have everything I need.”

“I spoke to your doctor.”

My eyes snapped over to him. Draven stared down at the table top for a few minutes before he looked at me again,  but with narrowed eyes. There was no need for me to ask what she said because based on the way he was looking at me, I already knew that she told him what she had told me.

“This isn’t something you can ignore, sweetheart.”

I flinched. Pushing the chair back, I stumbled to my feet and made a beeline for the exit. Draven gripped my arm when I moved past him. Biting back a whimper, I tugged on my arm, but unlike that last time he touched me, he didn’t let go. His hold only tightened as he stood and invaded my personal space.

“Listen to me this is serious. It’s not a game. You have a few weeks before your heat hits you full force, Sin. If you’re not claimed—”

“Let go!”

“You need to find an Alpha to spend your heat with otherwise things are—”

“It’s not your problem!” I yelled.

Ripping my arm free, I hurried between the tables towards the door. The heat hit me the moment I opened the door, making me struggle to breathe. Draven called out to me, but I ignored him as I hurried in the direction where Bella had parked the truck.

We were supposed to meet back there in two hours.

“Sin!”

Someone bumped into me, making me stumble backwards. I steadied myself only for another person to bump into me. I stepped to the side but ended up misjudging the distance of the curb. My ankle twisted, and I would’ve hit the ground if someone hadn’t caught me.

The moment I was placed on my feet again, I pushed the person away despite the pain it caused to put weight on my foot.

“You should be more careful, little doll.”

My head snapped up. I sucked in another breath and took a step back, but his hand shot out and pulled me against his chest once again. It felt like I was suffocating. I pressed my hands to his chest and pushed, but his hold only tightened.

“Where are you been hiding?” He questioned against my ear. “I’ve been waiting for the Centre to call me.”

“You have two fucking seconds to get your hands off of her.”

Alpha Jackson raised his head slightly and growled. “Fuck off. I saw her first. She’s mine.”

“I don’t belong to anybody!” I hissed at him. “Let—”

His fingers dug into my waist. “You belong to me, so shut your fucking mouth before I shut it for you.”

“I’m not going to—”

“Or what?” Jackson hissed.

With his full attention on the man, his hold loosened enough for me to slip free. An arm sneaked around my waist and pulled me back before Jackson could grab me again. The man didn’t trap me against him, but he pushed me behind his back.

I blinked at the black shirt inches in front of me. The mystery of who the stranger was, was cleared when Draven arrived.

“What’s going on? Tyrone, what are you doing?”

His eyes darted over to me, and without realizing it, I pressed a hand to Tyrone’s lower back as I stepped closer to him. He shifted from foot to foot and surprisingly reached back to grip my hip. Taking it as a good sign, I snuggled closer to his back.

“He shouldn’t touch what doesn’t belong to him,” Tyrone growled.

Jackson laughed. “That little Omega you’re protecting belongs to me! If you don’t believe me, then you can call the centre yourself and they’ll tell you. Let’s go, little doll.”

I clutched Tyrone’s shirt and held on tighter when a hand touched my arm. No, no, no! His hand dropped from my hips as I was pulled out from his back. I struggled and managed to throw the unwanted touch off, but it didn’t make anything better.

Tyrone stood to my left, Draven to my right and Jackson in front of me. A small crowd has surrounded us, everyone of them were staring. My skin prickled, the panic shifted closer and closer to the surface.

“Come here,” Jackson growled, using his alpha command.

I whimpered when my body automatically followed his order. One small step forward and another. I was almost within reach when I was jerked back and pulled against a hard chest.

“Tyrone—”

“Shut up, Draven,” he hissed.

“So you still haven’t found an Omega,” Jackson chuckled. “Is that why you’ve taken such an interest in mine, Tyrone? What happened to. . .what was her name? Kristie, Crystal—”

“Kate,” Tyrone interrupted him. “Her name’s Kate.”

“Kate. Sorry, my bad.” Another laugh fell from Jackson’s lips. “What happened to her? I heard she took off when you showed her your play room, or was it her play room? You asked her to call you Daddy, didn’t you?”

The body against mine was stiff with anger. His fingers were digging into my skin just like Jackson’s had done. Pressing my face to his chest, I squeezed my eyes closed and breathed through the pain.

“Stay the hell away from Sin.”

I gasped when Tyrone picked me up and spun around. Clutching his shoulders, I held on as much as I could without touching him in anyway.

“Tyrone!” Draven called. “Sin! You can’t ignore something like this!”

I opened my eyes and sagged against him when I realized that we had managed to lose Draven in the crowd that had gathered but then my eyes locked on Jackson, who still stood in the same place. That man was going to cause more trouble than he already had.

Tyrone suddenly gripped my hips and pushed me away from him. “Get in.”

I blinked up at him for a few seconds and then looked at the truck and the door he held open for me. So the other truck belonged to him. Letting out another growl, Tyrone gripped my arm and spun me around. He gripped my hips and lifted me onto the seat. For a moment, our eyes locked as he stepped back.

“You—” he sneered instead of finishing his sentence and slammed the door shut.

Walking around the front of the truck to the other side, he got in and slammed his door shut even harder than he had mine. I slid closer to the door which didn’t go unnoticed by him.

“I—”

“Just shut up,” he interrupted.

My fingers searched and found the hem of my shirt. I clutched it tightly as Tyrone started the truck and pulled out of the parking spot. After a moment, he leaned forward to grab his phone from between the seats.

“Bella,” he growled into the phone, “Sin’s with me. Don’t. . .just finish your stuff and get back to the ranch.”

Tyrone gripped the steering wheel in a white-knuckled grip as he drove. Swallowing, I turned my head to stare out the window. It wasn’t that surprising to find the people turning their heads to stare at the truck when we drove past them. My shoulders sagged, and some of the fear faded when we left the town behind.

“I don’t want any part of your games,” he said. “Whatever your fucking playing at, it stops now, or you can pack your stuff and leave.”

“I’m n-not playing any games,” I said softly.

He scoffed. “I don’t want a line of alphas knocking on my door until you decide which one you want.”

“There won’t be because there aren’t—”

“He claimed you in front of everyone, Sin.” He looked at me for a few minutes before he focused on the road again. “Why were you going to stay with my brother when you already have an Alpha who’s ready—”

“I don’t want an Alpha!” I yelled.

“Could’ve fooled me,” he muttered. “Why does Jackson want you?”

“Everyone knows,” I whispered.

“They know about you, but they don’t know you. There’s a difference.” He glanced at me. “My brother made damn sure that nobody knew where you came from or what kind of life you had before you were found in that hotel room.”

I pursed my lips and lowered my eyes to stare at my shaky hands. The Omega Centre had made Draven sign a contract and later explained to me that if was for my own good, but I wasn't going to tell him that.

“Sin.”

“I was born an Omega,” I said softly. “It means that—” I started to explain, but he interrupted me.

“I know what it means.” A low humourless laugh fell from his lips. “Hell, that alone should be the reason for alphas to be lining up at your door.”

“They want a breeding machine,” I whispered. “They don’t want something that’s broken.”

“What do you mean?” he asked softly.

“Nothing.”

Tyrone muttered something under his breath, but he didn’t push for more.

The rest of the ride was thankfully continued in utter silence. I sat up when he turned into the lane of the ranch and the moment he parked the truck under the tree, I slid out of the truck and headed towards the cottage. I paused a few feet from the truck, and turned to look at him.

“Thank you,” I said.

He nodded.

When he didn’t turn to look at me, I continued on my way to the cottage.

Why hadn’t they taken the same truck if both of them needed to go to town?
