Emma’s POV

It started with silence. A rare, golden kind.

The kind that wrapped around you like a blanket and didn’t ask for anything in return.

Xander didn’t speak much the morning after I told him everything. He didn’t bombard me with questions. He didn’t push or prod.

He just made breakfast.

French toast. Real maple syrup. Berries, fresh and chilled. Even sprinkled a bit of cinnamon on top like he’d done it a hundred times.

I sat across from him at the kitchen island, fork in hand, wondering if he was trying to distract me or just give me something normal. Maybe both.

“I know you like strawberries,” he said casually, passing the bowl. “But if you want mangoes or something, I’ll send someone.”

“You don’t have to—”

“I know,” he said, soft but firm. “But I want to.”

---

After breakfast, he disappeared for a few hours. I assumed it was work until the door buzzed and a man in a charcoal suit delivered three garment bags, a bouquet of lilies, and a box tied with silver ribbon.

  • Terms and Temptations: The CEO spoils me silly   chapter 71

Emma's POV The days following my visit to my mother’s apartment were a blur of emotions, headlines, and haunting memories I thought I had long buried. But perhaps the strangest thing was the calm I felt once I left her building. Not peace, exactly—no, nothing about that woman could bring peace—but a strange kind of closure. Like I had finally faced the monster under my bed and found it smaller than I remembered. But even monsters had teeth. And I was about to learn just how sharp hers still were. Xander tried to distract me. He did everything in his power. He took me out, booked a spa day, even had my favorite pastries flown in from that tiny bakery in Paris I’d only ever mentioned once. I knew he meant well—knew he was trying to pull me into his light—but the shadows from my past were thick, clinging, and eager to remind me that no amount of affection could erase what had been done. I still smiled. I still kissed him. I still let him hold me at night. But I also knew something

  • Terms and Temptations: The CEO spoils me silly   Chapter 72

Xander’s POVIf there was one thing I’d learned in business, it was this: when the enemy goes low, you build higher. Build smarter. Build stronger. But this wasn’t business. This was personal.Emma sat on the balcony, knees pulled to her chest, a cup of tea cooling in her hands. The morning sun tried to warm her skin, but I could tell by the way she hugged herself that she was somewhere else entirely. Somewhere colder. Her past had become a weapon in someone else’s hands. And I was done watching from the sidelines.---Danielle had already cleared out her schedule. She sat cross-legged on the couch with three devices open, tabs and files pulled up, her fingers flying like she was conducting a symphony of intel.“I traced the email that sent the video,” she said without looking up. “Bounced through six VPNs, but the final node is in Newark. Small co-working space. I can get access to their security feed.”“Do it.”She nodded. “Already started the request. Might take a couple hours, but

Emma’s POVXander didn’t say a word as he closed the door behind us. The penthouse felt unusually quiet, like even the walls were holding their breath. I walked in slowly, my heels echoing on the marble floor, the weight of everything that had just happened pressing on my chest.Seeing my mother again had cracked something inside me—something I thought had long been sealed shut. And to make it worse, Robert and Diane had stirred the pot with the kind of cruelty that didn’t just aim to destroy my image, but me entirely. They weren’t just playing dirty—they were playing personal.I flopped onto the couch and buried my face in my hands.“I need a shower,” I muttered, more to myself than to Xander. But he heard. “I’ll run one for you.”His voice was gentle. Too gentle. Like he didn’t want to break me any further. And maybe he was right—maybe I was already teetering on the edge. I didn’t stop him as he disappeared into the bedroom. While he ran the water, I sat in silence. The city buzzed

  • Terms and Temptations: The CEO spoils me silly   Chapter 69

Xander's POVThe moment Emma walked into that building alone, every cell in my body screamed to go after her. But I didn’t. Not because I didn’t care—but because I did. She needed this. She needed to face the woman who haunted her without me standing over her shoulder like some knight in Armani armor. But damn, standing outside those bricks that bled history, knowing that inside those walls was the source of so much of her pain, nearly drove me crazy.Danielle stayed with me, leaning against the hood of the car, scrolling through her phone in that nervous-but-casual way she did when everything inside her was chaotic."She's stronger than you think," she said without looking up."I know," I murmured. "Doesn't mean I like it."Minutes stretched into what felt like hours. Then finally, the door opened.Emma stepped out.And she looked... different. Not broken. Not fragile. But... older. Like she'd gone into that building one woman and came out another. She didn’t say a word. Just walked

Emma's POV I never thought I would willingly sit in front of a camera to talk about my childhood. But there I was. In our home studio, surrounded by soft lighting, one camera, and Danielle perched on a stool behind the lens, silently mouthing, "You got this." Xander stood to the side, arms crossed over his chest like a fortress around me. His presence anchored me. His eyes never left mine. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Danielle asked one last time. Her voice was cautious, but there was pride tucked behind it too. I nodded. "Yes. I’m tired of letting other people tell my story." She hit record. I took a slow breath. "My name is Vivian Emmanuella Davis. But most people now know me as Emma Blake." The words felt heavy but honest, like shedding old skin. "There’s been a lot of talk recently. Pictures. Headlines. Documents pulled from places I thought I'd buried. And since the media is having so much fun painting who I used to be, I thought it was time you heard it from me

  • Terms and Temptations: The CEO spoils me silly   Chapter 67

Emma’s POV The moment I stepped inside the apartment, it felt like the walls shifted. Like they remembered me. Every step I took on that creaky wooden floor echoed louder than the last, as if the past was dragging its heels behind me. She hadn’t changed much—my mother. Still graceful in that eerie, distant way. Her black hair was pinned tight, not a strand out of place, and she wore a burgundy silk robe that looked more like something out of a costume drama than actual loungewear. Her smile was the same too: perfectly painted, but never sincere. “I must say,” she drawled, pouring herself tea like we were about to gossip over brunch, “marriage suits you. But you should have worn something less… common. You represent money now, Vivian.” “I go by Emma now,” I said, not moving from the doorway. Her eyes flicked up. “Emma. Hm. Always hated that name. Too simple. But I suppose it suits your fantasy of escaping reality.” I wanted to scream. I wanted to ask her why. Why she’d lied. Wh
