Lucius's POV
As I stepped into the warehouse, I was shocked to find Owen holding the strange woman so tightly. I walked up to them and tried to take him away from her but he resisted."Owen, it's daddy!" I growled at him but he just refused to let her go.His head was resting on her shoulder and I didn't want to pull him forcefully for the fear of triggering his wolf. The strange woman looked at me and gave me an apologetic smile. "Let me help," she whispered in a soft voice. She turned to whisper to him and gently pried his small arms off her neck. "Hey, big guy..."He left her neck and stared into her face. "Go to daddy, I am right here. I am not going anywhere. I promise..." she whispered and Owen nodded.Reluctantly, he turned to me and I took him from her."Why did you leave the doctor and come here? Don't you know it isn't safe?" I reprimanded him but he pinched his face into a frown and refused to respond."Are you listening to me?" I hissed, getting frustrated by his attitude. I almost ran mad searching for him for close to two hours and now he didn't even want to listen to me!"Sir, please let him be. He is just a child. Let's be grateful we found him," Bucks said and I nodded at him."Fine. You can go on with your work. I'll take him home now. Thank you miss," I said to her.But Owen turned around and stretched out his hands to the strange woman again."What now?" I hissed but she shook her head to me and I let her handle him.She came forward and held his hand. "Owen, you have to go home now. I am always here if you want to play," she whispered to him but he shook his head and tightened his hold on her arm.He turned his head to me and I understood what he wanted. He wanted me to leave him with her.Seeing how much he was drawn to her, I could have left him with her but I couldn't do that. She was a mere human, leaving a young pup with her would be dangerous"Owen, you heard her. You can come to play with her when you want but right now, we need to go home," I lied to him. There was no way I would leave him with her for even a second. It was too dangerous. But Owen refused to listen. He held on tight to her hands and my patience started slipping."Owen!" I growled but the strange woman held my upper arm and I paused."Owen dear, hold on please," she said to him and he let her go. She walked back to the box behind her and took a notepad that sat there. She scribbled something on it and tore the paper out.She returned to where I stood and gave the piece of paper to Owen. "That's my number. Call me whenever you need me and I'll be there, okay?" she said to him and surprisingly he let go.I was stunned. Owen had never behaved like this with someone else before."Thank you," I said to her as I turned to leave. As I got to the door I paused and turned to Bucks, "send me her account details. I want to send her my gratitude.""Yes sir." Bucks replied.I held on to my son and we walked out of the lounge and straight to my car where I strapped him in his car seat.Owen meant everything to me.I picked him up at a human hospital when one of my men called to inform me of a stillborn werewolf foetus found in his workplace. The baby was barely breathing when I got there. My blood was transfused to its tiny body and I watched as it came to life. From that moment, I got attached to him. I couldn't give it up to someone else in the pack, so I decided to take care of him myself. But Owen had one problem, he was autistic. He refused to talk and kept to himself. He only let a few people in the pack touch him hence my surprise when I found him hugging a stranger.I looked back at him from the rearview mirror as I drove and saw that he was smiling at the piece of paper she had given him.It was strange but it brought joy to my heart to see that he was happy about something so small. The car soon got to the house and I eased it slowly to the garage. Lucas, my beta and younger brother was already waiting at the entrance.I stepped down from the car and carried Owen with me."You said you stayed longer than necessary. Did something happen?" Lucas asked as we reached the entrance."Owen ran off and it took me two hours to find him!" I hissed as I passed him to Lucas."Hey little man, you can't go running off like that. We don't want daddy to cry now, do we?" Lucas mused and I sent a glare his way.We got inside and as soon as Lucas sat down, Owen got down from his legs and went to the home phone on the side table.Lucas wanted to stop him but I held him back. "Leave him," I whispered.Owen opened up the piece of paper in his hand and entered the number to the phone. It was then I realized the strange woman in the warehouse had given him her number. The phone started ringing and she picked up."Hello?" Her gentle voice said.I held my breath as I watched Owen. Was he going to respond? I wondered. He didn't say anything. But he smiled and held the phone tight."What's going on?" Lucas whispered and I went on to explain everything that had happened to him."Waoh, do you know her? I think her presence around him might help his condition... He might just speak..." Lucas suggested.I didn't know her but for some reason, her face looked familiar like I had met her before."I don't know, but I wouldn't want Owen around humans. He wouldn't be safe, you know Patrick is still out there..."Lucas stayed quiet and I could tell he was deep in thought."What if you ask her to come to stay with you instead for a couple of months?"Diane’s POVI felt something within me shift and before I could stop myself, I threw myself against Scarred-face, screaming my lungs out.“Let my baby go!” I screamed. In my mind, I was so sure that I would manage to create enough distractions to take Owen from them and run as far as I could, but all those moves were only in my head. I didn’t even get far before Liam grabbed me roughly by the arm.“Where do you think you are going? The party is just starting…” he growled and threw me hard towards the bed. My head hit the bedframe and I felt my consciousness dwindle before my eyes.I blinked, panicking even stronger. If anything happened to me now, I wouldn’t be able to protect Owen anymore. I would fail once again in protecting my baby.“Mummy!” Owen screamed and I tried to raise myself from the ground despite the dizziness in my head.I refused to give up. My body was groaning in defeat, but I would rather die. Adrenaline pumped through my bloodstreams, and I dragged myself back to m
Diane’s POVAs soon as Liam stepped out of the room, I saw it as my opportunity to escape from his room. I returned my shirt to their position and moved out at once. I still remembered the route we had taken while coming, so I traced it back to my room.I was about to take the final bend when I heard a deafening growl from a room on my right. The blood within my body froze and panic started drumming through my skin. They said anyone who knew could be rescued, so I let my curiosity lead me to the side of the wall where I could get a good angle to see what was happening in that room.“No!” the roar echoed out of the room once again. “Keith can’t die like that!” he screamed again, and I watched as Liam held his head and dropped to the ground with tears in his eyes.“My lord, I saw the body with my two eyes. Lucius had made sure there would be no regeneration for him. He is dead-” a man covered in a hood was saying.I covered my mouth as the realization of what this meant flooded through
Lucius’s POV“Are you sure we are heading in the right direction?” I asked Monique for the third time since we have been on the road. I noticed that we had been going around the same places for close to two hours now and she just sat there with a smug look on her face, watching me as I drove as if I was a new show in a cinema.“Monique? Didn’t you hear me?” I asked, throwing a glance in her direction. She was now sitting with her legs spread apart and the skirt barely visible anymore.“Hmmm, yeah… yes, of course… just keep going…” she said, waving her hand to the screen while her eyes remained on me.My wolf twisted with disgust at her position. If she couldn’t sit properly, she shouldn’t have worn such an absurd outfit. I wanted to reprimand her to adjust herself, but I decided to ignore it. She was not my responsibility.“I don’t know if you have noticed but we have been going round the same place for hours now. Can you look at the road and tell me where we are supposed to go?” I a
Diane’s POVI planned on convincing Louis to help us escape but after hearing that Liam and Keith had his family, I couldn’t bring myself to say anymore. I would do anything to save my family, so I understood exactly where he stood in all of these. In the next couple of hours, I tried to remain positive as I studied every inch of the room, we were kept in, hoping that a miraculous door would appear from nowhere and I could step out of it.I even took my time to think about my decisions, wondering if things could have been different if I had acted in another way. I was stuck on a roller coaster of emotions till sleep managed to steal me.But even the sleep didn’t give me the rest of mind I needed. I kept seeing horrible endings to our situation that soon turned into a nightmare. The worst of them was when I saw Liam kill Owen. I was going to die first before I let anything happen to Owen.By the time my eyes opened, they went straight to Owen and I only relaxed after I saw that he was
Lucius’s POVIt was already in the early hours of the morning when I got to Macy’s house. As usual, as soon as I parked the vehicle in their driveway, I noticed the move of the curtain and I was suddenly reminded of Fred’s death. At some point after all of this was over, I would have to inform her of what had happened to her brave husband. My heart was heavy with sadness, but I swallowed it back. If I slacked now, her husband wouldn’t be the only bad news I would be giving her.I got out of the vehicle and this time Lucas stepped down with me. Together we went to her front door and just a few feet before we got to it, the door opened, and it wasn’t who I was expecting.“Where is Diane?” Sophie’s firm voice rang out around the area like she had a microphone buried in her throat.“Something came up and she… can I come in, there is a lot I have to explain to you,” I said. My voice was heavy with emotions, and I hoped she didn’t aggravate things. She studied me for a second before her sha
Lucius’s POVWith Keith dead, I left the captain of my soldiers and Kasper in charge, and I took one of the cars back to the human city to get the answers I needed. There was still a lot to be done, but I knew that I could trust my men to do a very good job of clearing everything and sorting what needed to be sorted. As I drove, my eyes were fixed on the road, but my heart ached for Diane. She was going to be broken when she found out about her grandfather but more than that, I needed to get her before Liam decided to do something crazy. Each moment I spent in that vehicle increased the number of questions rolling through my head and by the time I got to Bucks quarters, I practically jumped out of the moving vehicle.Lucas who had already been notified was standing at the entrance waiting for me and the moment he saw me, he ran towards me and hugged me. A rare moment where we shared our bond as brothers and as much as I wanted to just push him away and proceed inside, I could understa
