MasukSage’s POVI did not know how long I stayed on the floor, but when I finally stopped crying, all I was left with was a raging headache and an emptiness in my chest. I was now staring at the ceiling, feeling everything and nothing at the same time. I heard the door click, and then it opened. It was Leon; I could smell his cologne. He must have gotten a spare key. He rushed over to me and knelt down by my side. “Oh, my goddess, Sage. What happened?” His tone held worry, and I did not blame him. The room was a mess, and I was literally bleeding from my hands. Now that the adrenaline had come down a bit, I could feel the pain, and it was not pretty. He pulled me into his arms and hugged me. “Why did you do this?” He asked when I did not answer his first question. But there was no way that I could tell him the truth. There was no way that I could tell him that I was not his actual sister, and that I had been fooling him and everyone else for years. He would hate me. He would never forg
Sage’s POVI was sitting in the backseat of the car, Cassie on the other side, staring out the window. I could barely look at her without feeling a rush of anger and annoyance. I could not believe that she had been chosen by the Alpha King as one of the top five girls. Why was she getting something that she did not deserve? I mean, I knew that she could never be his mate. Like, look at her. But I still did not like the fact that she was currently on the same level as me when it came to the Selection Process. It deeply annoyed me. And let’s not forget that she had found out my secret that I had been hiding for years now. The little b*tch could ruin my life in a minute. Was I nervous about that? Hell yeah. But I did not want to show that. I did not want her to know that I was scared or nervous; that she had the upper hand. All I had to do was handle her, and she would not be an issue anymore. And I knew the perfect way to do that. Tomorrow night was going to be spectacular, and I cou
I opened my mouth to speak, but no words came out. I was trying so hard to understand what was going on. I chuckled weakly and hooked some of my hair behind my ears as I adjusted myself awkwardly in the chair. “I’m sorry, it’s just…” I continued to stare at him. The veil on his face was thin, but not enough for me to see his face. “Are you okay?” He asked in a soft tone. “Is there something wrong?” “You sound so much like someone I know,” I said, scoffing to myself weakly. “You smell like him too.” Or did I miss Nate so much that I was starting to see him in other people? This was literally the Alpha King; I needed to stop this nonsense. “You know what? Forget it. I’m sorry.” I flashed him a small, polite smile. He let out a small and deep chuckle that was a rich sound that had me mesmerized. It was Nate. I just felt in my heart deeply that it was him. But that would be impossible. Gosh, I felt like I was going crazy. “Who’s this person that I remind you of?” He asked me, folding
I swear, I felt like my mind had made up what I had just heard the blonde girl say. “Wait, seriously?” I stepped towards her, my heart filling with hope. The thought of putting all of this behind me filled me up. Sage chuckled, hooking some of her hair behind her ears. “Let’s go back in there and do the interview with the Alpha King. Then when we leave this place, I will take care of everything. All you need to do is pack,” She explained. “Oh, my goddess!” I said happily as I tried to go in for a hug, but she stepped back, avoiding it. “Time’s clicking, Cassie. We need to get back out there.” She winked at me, a smile on her face, before she turned and walked towards the door, unlocking and opening it. Once it was opened, she looked back and said, “And sister? No one can know about this, okay? This is our little secret. Soon enough, you will finally be free.” With that, she finally turned away and disappeared. I stood for a few seconds before it all dawned on me again. This could
This was a prank, right? I looked around to make sure that the Alpha King was talking about me, and sure enough, he was. Because Sage, who had been on one side, and the dark-skinned girl who had been on my other side had been picked and were standing up on the stage. I looked back at the guy and furrowed my brows even deeper before chuckling in disbelief. “Wait, are you serious?” I asked. I was so confused; why was he picking me? Had he not heard about my story; about how much people hated me? Was he not seeing the dress that I had on, or was he not able to sense that I did not have a wolf? Or maybe…maybe he had just chosen me so he could not be biased. I was just a filler, probably. There was no way that I could be picked to be his mate. So yes, I was just a filler. “Cassie, behave,” Leon leaned closer to me from where he was, whispering to me. "Don't disrespect the King." I nodded and continued looking at the Alpha King. Everyone was watching me, and I was expected to stand up
Cassie’s POVI did not have the dress that Sage had borrowed me for the Banquet Hall’s event, and for some reason, I wished that I did. I would have worn it again, with no shame. It would have been better than what I was wearing right now. When I looked around, I could see all the girls wearing beautiful and elegant dresses, showing off their beauty with professional makeup done on their faces. They all looked like princesses. But not me. I looked like I had begged to attend this event. I was wearing an old dress from four years ago, before Sage had entered our lives; before I had everything. taken away from me. The dress I was wearing was lovely, but it was a bit tight for me, and it was awfully simple. There was also a small tear on the right side that I was painfully aware of. I felt like I was being watched and judged by everyone, but in reality, I knew that no one cared that much about me, anyway. Leon was the only guy here from our pack; maybe it was because he was the Alpha.
