The next day, I called the pack line. No one answered. I tried again… still nothing. My chest tightened a little. They never ignored my calls before. Maybe the signal was bad, I told myself, but deep down, something felt wrong.

By dinner time, I was still distracted. Everyone was gathered at the table, laughing and chatting, but my mind was miles away.

Rosaline noticed first. “You’ve barely touched your food,” she said, looking at me from across the table. “Something wrong?”

I forced a small smile. “No, I’m fine. Just tired, I guess.”

Luna Clarissa tilted her head, eyeing me. “You sure? You’ve been acting strange all evening.”

“I just… tried calling home,” I said softly, lowering my gaze. “No one’s picking up. It’s probably nothing, but it’s weird.”
