“Are you okay?” Fiona asked quietly, brushing my arm as she leaned closer.

The carriage ride back to the palace felt longer than it should have. Every time the wheels bumped over a stone or a rut, my heart jumped—not from the motion, but from anticipation. After everything we’d been through, after Shadow Pack, after the revelations about my mother, it almost felt unreal that I was heading back to the place I had once feared, the place I was meant to stand beside Liam as his mate and crown princess. I stared out the window, tracing the familiar walls of the palace in the distance. The air smelled faintly of flowers blooming in the palace gardens, and I could see the guards moving in disciplined lines along the perimeter. Everything seemed perfect. Controlled. And yet, my stomach twisted with unease. “This is it,” Liam said quietly from the driver’s seat, breaking my thoughts. He reached over, his hand brushing mine. “Soon, everything changes.” I turned to him, smiling despite the knots in my stomach. “I know. I just… I want to be ready.” “You are,” he

  • The Alpha's Ice Mate   CHAPTER 147 -Novas POV

A MESSAGE Escape wasn’t an option. I was too weak for that, and I knew it. If I wanted to survive, I had to find another solution and fast. I was still lost in thought when movement caught my attention. One of the girls Selene had imprisoned,Josephine had somehow slipped out of her cage and was trying to escape. Panic flared inside me. She was heading the wrong way. I tried to warn her, making small noises, anything to get her attention. But she didn’t hear me. Just as I feared, she caught sight of Selene’s shadow as she stepped into the corridor. Terror took over. Josephine turned and ran straight into the room I was hiding in, slipping inside and crouching down to hide. She had no idea I was there with her. I held my breath and stayed silent.
