We resumed school after a few days, and on the surface things went back to normal or at least, to what “normal” could mean for me now. But deep down, I was more confused than ever about my identity.

Who was I, really?

Maya the shy girl, the one who flinched at loud noises and hated mirrors was now carrying one of the most powerful wolves inside her. Meant for something greater. But my story had been cut short before it even began.

Nyx whispered inside my head, her tone sharper than mine could ever be. “You weren’t meant to be weak. They made you weak. But we’ll rise again. You’ll see.”

Liam sometimes took me to a neighboring pack, far from prying eyes. There, we met an old healer who guided me through the beginnings of my power.
