Just then, I heard a deep, sleepy groan behind me.

“Maya?” Liam’s voice was rough, still thick with sleep.

I turned around quickly. “Uh yeah. Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you. Lily brought me here, but she just… ran off.”

He rubbed his eyes and sat up, blinking at me. “Figures. She always does that.”

I smiled awkwardly. “She said you could use some cheering up.”

“Oh, did she now?” he asked, a teasing smirk forming on his lips. “And you agreed to be my personal sunshine?”

I crossed my arms, pretending to frown. “Don’t push it, Alpha. I was just being nice.”

He chuckled, patting the spot next to him on the couch. “Then sit. I could use a little nice right now.”
