THE WEIGHT OF REGRET

These past few days have been nothing short of hell. Maya won’t talk to me, won’t even look in my direction. Our mate bond feels like it’s hanging by a thread — faint, but still there, just enough to keep my wolf from tearing me apart completely.

Every time I pass her in the hallway, she turns away. I can feel her pain through the bond, and it kills me knowing I caused it.

Lia, on the other hand, has become… unbearable. Her moods shift faster than the wind, her demands are endless. The doctor says it’s because of the baby, but even before she got pregnant, she was already manipulative. Now, she hides behind the excuse of “protecting our child.”

Tonight, she threw another tantrum because I didn’t bring her food fast enough.

“Liam, where were you?” she snapped, arms crossed over her stomach. “You know I can’t be left alone for long!”

I clenched my jaw, trying to stay calm. “Lia, I just went to check on some patrol updates. It wasn’t even ten minutes.”
