A SPARK MY SECOND CHANCE

Maya surprised me. I didn’t expect her to be so easy to talk to — or to laugh so much. Dinner had gone smoother than I imagined. She wasn’t like the others who threw themselves at me. She had this quiet strength about her, a spark that made it hard to look away.

But as I watched her laugh across the table, guilt crept up inside me.

Because deep down, I knew what I was doing.

She was part of my plan — a way to make Lia and Liam pay.

Still… the more time I spent with her, the more that plan started to feel wrong.

After dinner, we walked out into the cool night air. Maya stretched her arms above her head and smiled. “Okay, that was actually fun. I didn’t think I’d enjoy myself this much.”

I shoved my hands into my pockets, pretending to look relaxed. “So you doubted me from the start?”

She smirked. “Maybe just a little.”

“Wow,” I said with mock offense. “You wound me, Maya.”
