THE DINNER

The Alpha and Luna — Liam’s parents — finally settled on a date for the dinner. I told myself it was no big deal, just a friendly meal… but the way my stomach twisted said otherwise.

When I arrived at their house, the warmth hit me first. The smell of real food. Home-cooked. The kind I hadn’t had in… years.

Liam was already there with Lily and her mate. We all settled around the dining table, and Luna Claire began serving the food with the kindest smile.

“Eat as much as you want,” she said, setting a plate in front of me. “You boys train so hard.”

“It looks delicious,” I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. “Thank you, Luna.”

Alpha Raymond nodded from the head of the table. “So, Damon, Liam tells us you want to be a warrior?”

“Yeah…” I swallowed a bite of mashed potatoes that tasted like nostalgia. “I just want to protect the pack better. It’s… something I’ve always wanted.”
