They Betrayed me

It wasn’t until azalea stopped at the waterfall and looked in that I saw her for the first time.

“Wow, oh my goddess, Azelea your beautiful. Your, your so white. No wonder they couldn’t stop looking at us.

I couldn’t stop staring at her reflection in the water. Azelea was brilliant white with a glow of blue around her head; her eyes were a shade of purple. And when the breeze whipped past I’m sure it looked like her fur sparkled. Azelea was the most beautiful wolf I had ever seen.

Azelea was giggling, “Shall we go back?”

“Yeh I’m kinda tired.” We turned and walked back towards the others.

“Ok, now to shift back just think of your human selves. Clear your mind.”

I did what she told us and when I looked, I was human again. “I did it.” I laughed. “And it didn’t hurt.”

“Dummy,” Azelea scoffed.

I didn’t take much notice of her comment and went behind the tree that was hiding my clothes. I was so happy but sad at the same time. Ashley missed my shift, I looked around and saw the others with family members sharing their excitement, were as I was all alone.

As we all made our way back to the party an amazing scent caught my nose, Azelea perked up immediately and was on alert.

“Mate.” She cried.

I walked faster and into the hall. The music was still blaring and people were still mingling and enjoying themselves. I followed the scent of pine and fresh breeze and it kind of made my head feel a bit giddy. It led me through the hall and out through the back entrance, out towards the woods behind the garden. I walked hastedly wanting to see who my mate was. I followed a trail that led to a small shed where the summer things were stored.

As I got nearer, I heard soft moans and whispers. I crept up towards the door and the moans got louder.

“Omg Conner, please harder.”

“You love it when I do this to you, tell me your mine.”

“I’m yours, only yours.”

“Good girl.”

My hand flew to my mouth, as I recognised the female voice, it was my best friend, Ashley. Hold on does that mean that scent belongs to Conner the future alpha. My heart started racing and tears started to brim my eyes. I slowly reached out and took hold of the handle and turned the knob. I slowly opened the door and what I saw made my breath hitch, my heart broke and my wolf howled in pain. Conner turned and our eyes met. His eyes bore into my very soul.

“MATE.” His wolf growled.

I turned and ran as fast as I could. I didn’t look back to see if he was following me. It was difficult with tears streaming down my face. I already felt weak from my shift now my wolf was broken. How could they do this to me. I did the only thing I could, I ran home where I knew I would feel safest. I ran up the steps and slammed open the front door slamming it shut behind me. I slid down the door onto the floor and the tears fell. I was a sobbing mess. Someone was knocking on the door but I stayed where I was and didn’t bother answering it.

Whoever it was stopped knocking and it went quiet. I was about to get up and go to my room when I suddenly realised that I had left my clutch bag at the pack house. My phone was there but at this moment I really didn’t care. I got up and slowly walked up to my room. I stripped my dress off and turned on the shower. I made sure the temperature was on hot; I needed this, I needed to feel the burn. I stepped in under the shower the hot water cascading down over me. Suddenly my eyes stung and the tears fell.

“Azelea, are you ok?”

I was worried about my wolf. She didn’t deserve this. She deserved better than me. I could still feel her in the back of my mind, but she was quiet. I stayed under the shower until it started to run cold. I got out and got dressed in my fluffy pj’s. I realised I hadn’t eaten since breakfast but honestly, I wasn’t hungry. I pulled back my duvet and grabbed a spare pillow; I flopped down in my bed and put the tv on. I tried not to think about Ashley or Conner, but they kept popping up in my mind. Then the tears would start again.

I laid in my bed with the tv on as background noise. Outside in the dead of night, I could hear wolves howling, I wonder how many others found their mates tonight. With that thought it brought on the floods of tears again. Sometime during the night, I fell asleep it was restless I’m guessing as when I woke up to someone hammering on my front door I woke and felt like shit. I picked up my dressing gown on the end of my bed and pulled it on before heading downstairs to see who was beating the shit out of my door.

Whoever it was best have a fucking good reason to be waking me up this early. My head pounded, my eyes felt swollen, and my throat felt raspy. I approached the door and looked through the peep hole and there she was the slut who was my best friend. Well ex – best friend, the traitor. The mate stealer.

“Sasha, I know your there open the door please, let me explain.”

Explain yeah right, what’s to explain. I couldn’t be bothered with her theatrics, so I walked away and went to the kitchen. I took a glass from the cupboard and filled it with juice. I was so thirsty, probably ran out of water in my body from crying so damn much. I sat at the breakfast bar, and I could still hear her banging on the door. I lifted my head as my door sounded like it was going to crash to the floor. Someone else started banging on the door and it wasn’t Ashley.

“Sasha, its Conner open up now.”

Oh goddess, it’s the cheating asshole.

“Go away and leave me alone.” I yelled before I took off up the stairs.

“We need to talk open up right now Sasha.”
