Chapter 3 - Encounter with the Stranger

This was not my room. I sat upright on the bed and examined my surrounding. The room was so dark, and the windows were covered by a curtain. The furniture was made up of cherry wood. The room had a dark and powerful aura. There was a masculine touch to its decoration.

Where in the hell, I landed myself?

Oh my god, was I kidnapped? Thousands of questions were raised in my mind. I carefully tiptoed to the door, to sneak out of this room. I was still wearing my black lace dress, I slowly opened the door and checked my sides for any soul.

After confirming that the area was clear, I walked out of the room and turned to shut the door softly. After I succeeded, I turned to walk away but suddenly I was bumped into a wall.

"Oomph! Where the hell does this wall comes from?" I muttered under my breath, nursing my poor nose.

"I can assure you that I'm not a wall." I was startled by a deep husky voice from my front. I raised my head to look into a set of deep soul-piercing blue eyes. It was him, the mystery guy, who kept staring at me at the nightclub.

He was so intimidating and I reached just below his chin with my five-foot-five. My female instinct screamed danger but I was glued to my spot.

His gaze was so intense on me and he was clenching his chiseled jaw.

"How do I end up in this place?" I demanded. He raised his eyebrows at me but I shrugged him off.

"I saw you unconscious on the road, so I thought of bringing you to my place." He explained. Wait! How does he know that I was there?

"Were you stalking me?" I accused him with narrowed eyes.

"Don't flatter yourself, you are not worthy of stalking." He spat at me with so much hatred. My mouth hung open with disbelief.

How dare he?

I was not going to thank him for saving me because he was behaving like an asshole, such an arrogant bastard. To be honest, that was embarrassing. I was never humiliated by anyone as he did.

"I want to go home," I told him in a small voice without meeting his eyes. I could feel his intense stare, burning at the side of my face. I slightly lifted my eyes to see him nodding at me and making his way downstairs.

I closely followed behind him almost running to keep up with his pace, he stopped abruptly which caused me to bombard into his rock hardback.

The collision caused me to stumble and I lose my balance. But before my ass kissed the ground, two strong arms circled my waist and pulled me closer to his sculpted chest. I could feel the heat radiates off him. I laid both my palms flat on his chest and I can feel his rock-hard muscle under his white button-down shirt, he stiffened at our proximity.

"Can't you see where you are going?" his chest vibrated with his deep, masculine voice. I lifted my eyes to his face to notice that he was frowning at me.

"Maybe you should give me some heads up before stopping abruptly," I told him with an innocent look, he studied my face for a moment before breaking out of our embrace.

"I need to pick my car key and it would be wise if you keep your distance." He snapped at me with the same murderous look. If looks could kill, I would be buried six feet underneath by now.

I noticed that his home was huge, like a mansion but I was busy frowning at the grumpy owner.

After he picked his key, we made our way to his black Lamborghini, my jaw was literally on the ground, and it was a true beauty.

I quickly covered my expression to a bored one because I didn't want my grumpy companion to know my admiration for our ride.

You know what?, on second thoughts, I declare him as my nemesis for his arrogant and grumpy behavior.

After I gave him my address, he started driving, it was an awkward silence with me admiring the interior, while he was busy grinding his teeth.

"What's your name?" I asked him suddenly, which made him gaze at me for a moment before turning his attention to the road.

"That's none of your business." He snapped.

"Someone's panty in a twist," I sing-song to him, which caused him to frown. If you could be an asshole, I could annoy the shit out of you mister sexy pants.

Shit! Where the hell did that come from, he was my nemesis, Cathie, remember. You were not supposed to find him attractive. I scolded my inner thoughts.

"Can't you shut your pretty little mouth for a while?" he asked me with annoyance evident in his face, which made me smile. I turned my face to the window to hide my smile from him but it's too late, he noticed my smile with a glance at my side.

"So find me pretty?" I asked him with a giggle. He didn't respond. He kept on grinding his teeth, at this rate he was going to end up without teeth at an early age.

Suddenly, the car came to an abrupt halt in front of my grandma's home. I could see some cops talking to my grandma and she looked so tired and worried. Her face broke into a smile when she spotted me; she rushed by my side as soon as I got out of the car.

"Where have you been all this time, Cathie? You have got a lot of explaining to do, young lady." She gave me a stern look.

"Oh my god! I was so worried." She hugged me and kissed me on my forehead with so much love and affection.

"Granny, my phone died and my car broke down in the middle of nowhere." I reasoned out. Suddenly, Rachel and Paul arrived by my side for my rescue but I realized that was mistaken as soon as Rachel opened her mouth.

"You know, you shouldn't have left the keys on the ground near my poor baby. What if someone stole my car?" Rachel scolded me for leaving her car with the keys.

"Are you kidding me, we all are worried about her and you are talking about your damn car. For god's sake. Rachel, seriously?" Paul yelled at her in disbelief but she rolled her eyes at Paul for his little outburst.

"Come on, Paul. I know that she will be alright, remember? That one time, she punched the great Russo at the same bar when we were eighteen." She defended her.

"Stop bantering you two. Oh my goodness, I didn't notice you here, how are you, Alex?" My granny asked the fine species behind me with a sad smile.

"I'm good." He replied my granny and kissed her cheeks as if he knew her for a long time.

"His name is Alexander and he lives in the outskirt of this town." She introduced him.

"You know him?" I asked her.

"I know him and his family for a long time." She told me with a distanced look, like remembering something, or I might have imagined that part.

"Thank you for helping my Cathie, son." my granny thanked him with a grateful smile.

"Anything for you, Mrs. Brown," He assured her with a smile. God! That was the most beautiful smile I had ever seen, he looked so much young and carefree when he smiles like that. I think he should smile so often, instead of looking like permanently shoving a stick up his ass.

After Alexander and the cops left, my granny gave me a full-blown lecture on how irresponsible I was for my age. And how, I should think about others before doing something.

After an hour of the lecture, I went to my room to take a nap. I couldn't help but think about that arrogant blue-eyed man. There was something odd about him the way he carried himself.

I just didn't understand why all the good-looking guys are being such a jerk to the people. Maybe God should work on his creation a bit.

"Hey, sleepy head." Someone cooed in my ear.

I hummed and pulled my comforter to my neck.

Nice.

My bed was warm and comfy drawing me into the depth of my slumber.

Someone blew air into my ear, making me groan and shift in my sleep.

"Cathie,"

"Hmm,"

"Cathie,"

"Hmm,"

"Catherine Brown!" someone yelled my name. I jerked awake and scanned my room. Paul was standing at the corner with a goofy smile and my granny was sitting at my chair looking all smug.

"What are you doing here?" I groaned and fell back on my bed.

"We are going for a walk." Paul chirped like an excited kid, high on sugar.

"What time is it?" I asked him trying to look out my window to see anything. But it was dark and I feel sleepy.

Hmm,

Maybe I should sleep a little.
