Chapter 9

I lay there in the silence of the tiny room, breathing in the heavy musty air. It felt stifling in here. I couldn't fall asleep despite feeling tired out from the craziness of the day. 

I looked around the room and saw a vent in the wall beneath the wooden table in my room. Getting up off my bed, I made my way over to the vent to check it out. I quietly undid the screws and lifted the cover off, and took a look at the inside of the vent. There was nothing else in there, and it had an adequate amount of space, so I made a decision. This would be the ideal spot to hide my bag whenever I was out of the room. I grabbed my bag and put it in the vent before placing the cover back on and doing up the screws. 

Getting up off the floor, I quickly made my bed, and when I was done, lay back down on it. I don't know how long I had been laying there on my bed when there was a ruckus at my door. It was apparent that someone was trying to get into my room. I waited on my be
