Chapter 4

"Oh my goodness! I apologize, sir," I exclaimed, feeling utterly bewildered. I closed my eyes, attempting to collect myself, but my heart raced with nervousness as I caught sight of Sir Elijah's bare torso. His commanding presence was enough to make anyone feel on edge.

"Clean the bathroom," he stated firmly, his voice cold and husky. I hesitated, seeking clarification. "Sir?" I inquired, hoping for further instruction.

"I said clean the bathroom!" he bellowed, his anger evident on his face. Taken aback by his sudden outburst, I hurriedly made my way into the bathroom. Unfortunately, the floor was wet, and I slipped, letting out a cry of pain. In an instant, Sir Elijah grabbed me by the waist, scolding me for my carelessness.

I was taken aback by his reaction. I hadn't expected him to scold me after I had slipped. Not only was my body in pain, but his hurtful words stung as well. He was truly a ruthless man.

"I apologize, sir. I suppose the floor has a grudge against me," I joked, despite the pain coursing through my waist.

However, he didn't crack a smile. Shaking his head, he left the room, leaving me to take a deep breath and calm myself. Little did I know that my first day at the mansion would turn out to be such a dreadful experience.

"But why does he still look so handsome, even when he's angry?" I mused to myself, unable to suppress a smile. The image of Sir Elijah's muscular physique lingered in my mind, causing me to shudder. I averted my gaze, focusing on the task at hand - cleaning the toilet.

"Oh no! Stop daydreaming, Bailey!" I scolded myself.

"Sir Elijah will never have any interest in you," I added, trying to bring myself back to reality.

Suddenly, a voice behind me near the door startled me, causing my heart to skip a beat. Hastily, I stood up and plastered a smile on my face.

"Aren't you finished yet?!" Sir Elijah demanded, his frown deepening. "Ah... yes, sir. I'm done," I stammered, my knees trembling with nervousness as I faced him.

I couldn't help but wonder if he had overheard my earlier musings.

"Then leave now!" he shouted, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from his strikingly.

I watched as Sir Elijah's face turned red with anger.

"I said get out!" he shouted, his voice booming through the room.

My heart raced as I stammered out an apology, my words stumbling over each other. I quickly made my escape, feeling the weight of embarrassment settle on my shoulders. How could I have made such a fool of myself in front of my boss?

I found solace in the kitchen, where Beth was busy preparing lunch. She looked at me curiously, sensing my distress. I couldn't help but spill the details of my embarrassing encounter with Sir Elijah. To my surprise, she burst into laughter, finding humor in my misfortune.

"Oh, Bailey! Don't expect anything from him. Even the most beautiful and alluring woman wouldn't stand a chance with Sir Elijah," she chuckled, her laughter infectious.

"You're terrible, Beth!" I exclaimed, unable to hide my smile.

"It's only natural to be infatuated with someone, Bailey. But remember to focus on your work, or it might end up hurting you," Beth advised, her tone filled with wisdom.

"Yes, Beth. But is that really how Sir Elijah treats his housemaids? Is he always so harsh?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me.

"Exactly!" she replied, her answer direct and to the point.

"So, there's no hope for a maid like me. I'll make sure to do my job well to avoid any hurtful words or getting fired," I resolved, determined to prove myself.

"That's the spirit! Sir Elijah will be impressed, hehe!" Beth teased, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Beth!" I exclaimed, my excitement evident.

"Of course, it's just a joke. But you can't deny your excitement!" she said, a smile playing on her lips.

I shook my head, unable to suppress my smile. Together, we set the table and before long, Sir Elijah descended the stairs. He was undeniably handsome, but I reminded myself to keep my composure. I didn't want to give him any reason to scold me again.

"The food is ready, Sir Elijah. You may begin your meal," I said, a smile gracing my lips.

He didn't utter a word, simply taking his seat and starting to eat. I couldn't help stealing glances at his striking face, losing myself in his presence.

He questioned me with an air of arrogance, "Why are you staring at me?!"

"I'm sorry, sir," I apologized, feeling embarrassed.

"Get out of my sight!" he barked angrily.

I quickly lowered my head and scurried off to the kitchen. I never thought he could be so rude, but I still held onto the hope that he would eventually soften towards me.

Suddenly, Beth's voice startled me, "Hey! What are you doing there?"

I smiled nervously, "Oh, nothing."

"Beth, you need to focus on your work," Sir Elijah's voice boomed from behind us.

I lied to Beth, "I'm just thinking about my parents."

"Are you sure that's all you're thinking about?" Beth asked, suspiciously.

"Of course, why would I be thinking about Sir Elijah?" I retorted.

Sir Elijah's sudden appearance caught us off guard, "Are you two gossiping about me?!"

"No, sir. We were just discussing how to improve our work," Beth lied.

Sir Elijah gave us a stern look before leaving and ordering us to clean his room for his upcoming visitor.

As he walked away, I couldn't resist asking him what time he would be back. He was clearly taken aback by my question, "What?!"

I nervously asked, "What time will you be back?"

"You have no right to ask me that, stupid!" he snapped before getting into his car.

I felt humiliated as the guards laughed and scolded me for my behavior. I apologized, feeling foolish for not realizing how upset he would be.

Daniel complimented me on my bravery for asking Sir Elijah, while the other guard scolded me for it. I apologized, not realizing Sir Elijah would be angry.

As time passed, I saw Sir Elijah bringing different women to the mansion, and I couldn't help but feel sad and disillusioned. When I mentioned it to Beth, she accused me of being jealous and warned me not to be an illusionist. But I knew in my heart that I didn't stand a chance with Sir Elijah, and it was enough for me to see him every day.

One day, while carrying his laundry, I accidentally dropped it and Beth scolded me for being careless. When Sir Elijah appeared, I was nervous but thrilled by his reaction.
