Elena POV

The shout cut through the air like a bolt of lightning, and for the briefest of moments, I felt a wave of relief wash over me.

I turned my head, my vision still blurry, and there stood Alex, I could see the fury in his face. Those grey eyes, usually so cold and composed, were now filled with rage, pure, unfiltered rage burning that radiates from his entire body.

Lucas, startled, took a step back, he's holding on to me loosening and I quickly sat up, leaning on the edge of the couch.

Alex didn’t give him a chance to react. He charged forward, grabbing Lucas by the collar and shoving him across the room, sending him crashing into the wall with a sickening thud.

“Touch her again, and I swear I’ll make you regret it,” Alex growled, his voice dripping with menace.

Lucas coughed, trying to regain his composure when Alex pulled him up again this time pinning him against the wall like his weight was nothing.

I could barely see what was happening now, my body trembling with the s

Elena “Alex?” I whispered again, shifting slightly in his arms, my voice barely above a murmur. He didn’t respond immediately. His breathing was slow, warm against my neck like a lullaby I didn’t want to end. But I had to ask. I needed to. Even if it meant ruining this moment.“Alex…?” I said for the third time, gently nudging his arm.“Mmm?” he finally answered, voice groggy, rough, sleepy… and he still managed to sound annoyingly husky.I hesitated, my fingers fidgeting against his skin. I could feel him breathing. His chest rose and fell under my palm. So calm. So peaceful. And here I was, about to break it.“I want to ask you something,” I said softly.I wasn't sure what I'm about to ask him, if he would take it lightly but I had to try. This was the only time I would get him at his best.He loosened his grip on me just slightly, enough for me to tilt my head up and meet his eyes. He blinked, obviously still half-asleep, but I'm sure he was still listening.“so, I… I was thinking

Elena POV He didn’t say anything either. His hand moved slowly, fingers brushing a loose strand of hair away from my face. The tiniest of touches, but it sent lightning all through me.I felt like my brain had short-circuited."I've missed you, Elena," he whispered suddenly, like it was a secret just for me. Like he wasn’t surprised. Like he liked it.And I... I couldn’t take it anymore.“Y-you should sleep,” I said quickly, voice a little too high, a little too panicked. I looked away, trying to hide the way my face was burning. "We have a long day tomorrow."“Mhm,” he hummed again, already moving closer, tighter, like he had no intention of letting me go.“ Alex you ….”“ Shush….” He shushed me placing a finger on my lips then tracing my lips while his other hand that held me in place slid down.I gulped as I felt something hard underneath me. Oh GodMy heartbeat erupted like a disturbed volcano wanting to pop out in any minute. The night gown I wore was much of a help to me as he

Elena POV The sudden pull towards him made my head immediately bump into him.“ Ouch” I gritted my teeth in pain trying to pull away this time. “ Let me go”I struggled a little before releasing me, still wrapping his shirt on me.I tried removing it but I knew my stupid act would just make me fall sick and that was the last thing I wanted to happen. So, I just held on tight to his shirt, covering myself with it.“ you're still stubborn” he said,I adjusted, shooting him glares.Minutes ticked by and the night never seemed to come to an end. “ Achoo” I heard him sneeze beside me.With weary eyes I glanced over at the shirtless Alex by my side who was already freezing to death. His face pale, his lips slightly trembling as he rubbed his palms together for warmth.Men are really something else. Why give me your shirt when you know you also need it.Always trying to prove a point.I sighed, guilt tugged at my chest. I was the one wrapped up in his shirt while he sat there, exposed to t

Elena POV “ Guess she found it” I smiled as he stared at the bear like it was some ghost from the past.“Look, I know it’s not my business,” I continued before he could say anything. “I know I shouldn’t be sticking my nose into things that have nothing to do with me. But—” I sighed, wrapping my arms around myself, “ I don't have my parents with me no more and you still have one. I just don't want you to regret this at the end.”He didn’t say anything.“please nick, there's more to what's beneath the eyes”Nick looked up at me finally, still holding the bear. His eyes were unreadable, dark with something I couldn’t name.“You really think there’s more to the story?” he asked. “More to why she left?”“I do,” I said firmly. “I mean, I might be wrong, but… what if you’re wrong too? What if what you saw wasn’t everything? Just this once, Nick… look into it. Ask her. Just try. And if you find nothing—if nothing changes—I won’t say another word about it.”He was quiet for a while. Then he n

  • The Billionaire's Accidental Bride    Chapter 76 - Something from the past

Elena POV Alex just sat there being pestered by Catherine who was acting all clingy, practically glued to Alex’s side like a starved leech.I bit my lower lips gulping down my drink. Whatever was the relationship with them didn't bother me.I don't care. If he wants not to talk to me I won't force it. I have apologised and he's still proving arrogance. But I know I was lying to myself. I cursed under my breath.Still holding my glass, I turned back to the bar, pressing the rim to my lips. Just what I needed. When I dared to glance back, his eyes were already on me.Our gazes met—sharp and unreadable. His jaw was tight, unreadable. I quickly averted my gaze as I gulped the last of my drink and slid off the stool.I needed air away from all this drama after all it wasn't my style. The warm night air kissed my skin as I stepped onto the balcony. The city sparkled below, a sea of golden lights and distant noise. A gentle breeze lifted the loose strands of my hair, brushing them across

  • The Billionaire's Accidental Bride    Chapter 75 - the celebrant is nowhere to be found.

Elena POV Morning came and soon everyone and everywhere was busy because for some reason Nana wanted to make Nick's birthday a big one to remember.I woke up to see a dress hanging up on the hanger beside the dresser. The sunlight shining in from the window glowed on the ocean blue dress as it sparkled. The top was as bright as the blue sky traced down to the bottom which was deeper than the top and layers of sparkling beads were designed on it.It looked so gorgeous that even words can't describe its beauty. I stared at it a little longer before showering and wore it on with the help of a maid. My hair tucked up with little strands hanging around. She took a suitable necklace to wear on it but I stopped her from taking out the silver pendant to put on.I felt like it would go well with the dress and then for my heels I took silver heels not too flashy but just right. After taking a few minutes to adore myself I stepped out of my room with two bags in my hand silently preparing mys

  • The Billionaire's Accidental Bride    Chapter 74 - I will always love them

Elena POV “Good morning,” I said, suddenly feeling shy under her motherly gaze. There was a kindness in her eyes that I hadn’t felt in a while.“You’re early,” she smiled, brushing imaginary dust off my shoulder. “I love early birds.”The warmth inside her home was inviting. A faint floral scent hung in the air—roses and vanilla, maybe—and the furniture was neat but lived-in. Nothing pretentious. Just home.“Come,” she said, waving me into the kitchen. “I was just about to make us something. Pancakes? Or do you prefer something else?”“Pancakes are fine,” I smiled, settling onto one of the stools. She tied her apron, humming softly to herself as she worked. The sizzle of the batter hitting the pan made everything feel…normal. Comforting. She wasn't what I thought she would be. Judging by her demeanor I thought she would be the extravagant type but she is making breakfast for her and I.Suddenly, there I heard a tiny voice echo throughout the room. My smile sdes and I turned to see a

Elena POV The sound of a door slamming—hard. Followed by the heavy stomp of boots against the floorboards.I froze in place. After a few seconds I slowly turned, the fridge still open, my heart on the edge of my throat as I tried as much as possible to control it.Alex stood there disheveled. He was slightly sweaty with his shirt half-unbuttoned. His hair was tousled like he'd been running his hands through it for hours. From here I could smell the strong smell of expensive alcohol and something else—bitterness, maybe. His eyes locked on mine, sharp and dark and... cold.He took a slow step forward. “What the hell do you think you're doing?”My throat dries instantly. “I—uh—I was just getting something to eat. I didn’t mean—”“I’m not talking about the damn food,” he snapped.I shrank back slightly, confusion and fear knotting in my chest. “Then what—”“ Jessica,” he bit out. “You went out with her today.”Oh. So he knew.“She asked me,” I said quickly, heart hammering. “I didn’t pl

  • The Billionaire's Accidental Bride    Chapter 72 - Call me mum

Elena POV I sucked in a breath, stunned at her effortless defense. Catherine’s face reddened, her fingers curling into fists at her sides. For a moment, it looked like she might argue, but then Alex’s mother delivered the final blow.“Now, if you’ll excuse us, my daughter-in-law and I have lunch to attend.”Catherine’s mouth opened, then snapped shut. She couldn’t argue with that without making a bigger fool of herself.Fuming, she turned on her heel and stormed off, her heels clicking against the marble floor.Looking at her angry back disappearing I couldn't help but smirk. This was the first time in a while that someone had defended me or stood up for me like that.I couldn't help but not think about my mom, in a way she hesibitrd the same character or maybe it's because I just missed her this much. It's been a long time since I visited her grave. Maybe sometime I'll drop by to check how she is doing.Alex’s mother turned to me, her expression softer now. “Shall we?” she asked, a
