Chapter 1

Seraphina pov

What does it feel like to live in a mansion. To get everything you want without having to work hard for it. Being privileged, having a life that feels easy.

When I was a child, that was my dream. To be spoiled. To be special. But growing up with parents who only thought about themselves, I slowly gave up on dreaming big.

Maybe this is all my life will ever be. Maybe this is what I am meant for. Not a grand, impossible dream, but something simple.

And I am okay with that. Having my grandparents by my side is enough. Nothing else really matters.

I grew up with them granting my simplest wishes, never expecting anything in return. They always treated me like a princess, someone who didn't need a prince to live happily.

And their presence... that's what I live for. Seeing them healthy and well, that's what makes my life feel easy, knowing they're okay.

"Sera!

"Lolo mo, nasaan?" tanong niya.

Our lives were always like this.

He meant Nikolai? Yung hindi halatang billionaire?

"Wala. We just talk about our life.

"Kung pwede lang umatras, I want to.

Kahit anong mangyari."

"Good morning, sir and ma'am." sabay-sabay nilang bati.

The fuck.

What the fuck is Nikolai doing here.

"What the fuck are you doing here?!" bulong ko sa kanya nang lumapit siya sa akin.

"Visiting my soon to be wife." malakas na sabi niya.

Tang ina.

He look at me and wink. Yuck!

I felt my grandparents freeze when they heard those words.

I have something to give." sabi niya.

"For you," sabi niya habang inaabot ang bulaklak kay lola.

"Thank you, apo," sagot ni lola.

Baliw talaga.

"And of course, for my special someone. To my soon to be wife. For you," sabi niya bago ibigay sa akin ang huling bouquet.

Nang kinuha ko iyon, I feel his hand touch mine. Sinadya niya, and it felt like I was electrocuted when his fingers brushed against my skin. My breath hitched for a second, my heart reacting before my mind could.

He smirked when I looked at him. He noticed that I felt his touch.

"Sit now.

I saw Nikolai stand beside me.

I feel his hand touch mine, slow, like he's testing if I'll pull away. Instead, he intertwines his fingers with mine, and suddenly everything feels warmer. His hand is soft, and it makes my heart flutter.

Nararamdaman kong nag-iinit ang pisngi ko, my heart beating louder. I know I should pull away, pretend it means nothing. But I don't. Instead, I tighten my grip and hold his hand too, letting myself feel everything I've been trying to ignore.

I don't know him, and I don't even know if I will like him once I really get to know him. Maybe this feeling is just the moment playing tricks on my heart, and I shouldn't let it mean more than it should.

But it seems like grandma likes him.

But knowing this guy, hindi ako magpapaloko.

And I won't be blinded by the way he gave me these flowers. Or by how he treats my grandparents.

I still have time. And I won't waste it being blinded by this fake, stupid billionaire.

Like I was just someone who came along for the food and nothing else."I'm sorry we interrupted earlier."Napatigil ako. I let go of my fork and quickly took a sip of juice."Interrupted what?" Si Nikolai ang sumagot."That—" she said, puckering her lips and kissing the air.My face burned instantly. I almost choked.Nikolai leaned back, completely unbothered. "You saw wrong."She laughed softly, clearly not convinced. "Sure."I avoided everyone's eyes, suddenly very interested in my glass. My heart was still beating too fast, and I hated how obvious it felt. Then I saw Nikolai. His smile wouldn't leave his face and the way he bit his lower lip while smiling made my heart skip a beat. Alam ko nasa utak niya."We were just dancing," I said."Ah," she nodded. His eyes were calm

He looked done and rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed by Maine's presence."Pink. Okay?" She said.I nodded slowly.Where was I supposed to find a pink dress? I had one, but it barely reached my knees.Maine looked effortlessly pretty in her red dress, and I couldn't help but wonder if I could even match that.I went to my room and changed my dress. The pink one. Kahit maliit, sinuot ko pa rin."Perfect. You look pretty," she said.I smiled. I really felt confident being praised by another woman. Pakiramdam ko ang ganda-ganda ko."Too small."And that's how my smile faded. Kahit pekpek short pa itong suot ko, wala naman siguro siyang pake."What do you mean small? It looks perfect," Maine defended me.Well, he's a man. What wo
