Chapter 3

Medicia traveled back to the Lycan territory as there was an emergency with her client. Meanwhile, Iris underwent harsh training with Edin. She couldn’t count the times she had body pains and huffed tiredly from their last training. Her body changed a lot and starting to have a toned body and few muscles and learned a lot of offensive and defensive skills for a business owner Edin hits back so hard. How did he even maintain his military training and still be good at it?

Pulling the bag trolley, a cab was waiting for her outside. The couple waited for her at the doorstep with a smile on their face. “Good luck in the Royal Military. Please be careful the high-class wolves are not easy to please.” She gave Carly and Edin a hug. They will be missed a lot. Getting into the cab her journey began towards Alarick, the DarkMoon’s capital city.

The driver dropped her off at the train station and paid the fare. Inhaling deeply, this is it one last travel then I will arrive at Alarick. Taking her seat next to the woman her face frowned sniffing at the air. “A human.” She growled.

The train conductor arrived at our seats asking for our tickets. “Excuse me, sir, I would like to change seats. I don’t want to stay here with a nasty human.” The old woman complained and pointed at Iris.

“I’m sorry miss, but all of the seats are full and we can’t change it. A lot of people are traveling to Alarick City because there are a lot of new graduates.” He replied apologetically. She rolled her eyes and grabbed him by his lapels.

“Didn’t you hear what I said? I want to change seats right now!” Her voice caught the attention of other passengers. “Once again, we can’t accept your request.” He sighed these rich people are a pain.

“You disgusting human, I want you to leave the train right now! You don’t deserve the same privileges to stay on this train.” The woman attempted to attack me, but a blonde-haired passenger blocked her.

“It’s so early in the morning, and you’re already making a fuss. You rich people are so annoying talking about privilege and power. Take my seat it’s in the front row so demanding!” The old woman huffed and transferred to the front.

“Hey, thank you for standing up to me. My name is Iris.” She started the conversation. Both women sat down, and the conductor took their tickets.

“My name is Penny. I saw you before back at Moonfall University but never had the chance to approach you. You would always go home early for your job, and I’m sorry for the incident these past few days.” Penny had golden blonde hair and forest green eyes, tiny freckles spreading on her cheeks.

“It’s okay things happen, and I will forever miss that happy atmosphere. That means you’re a new graduate. What job are you taking?” Iris asked.

“Taking some training in the military’s medical field I was told it’s hard to enter, but shockingly I was accepted, how about you?” She shot the question back.

“I wanted to go into the Royal Military, but the application is on-site. Before you can say anything, I know it will be hard for a human to go in there, but it’s not too late to take the risk, right?” She reassured Penny.

“Okay, good luck with that. I’ve been told that the Royal Military are a bunch of arrogant dogs they will push you to the brink. It’s all about mental and physical strength. Since we’re both going to a military camp that means we might see each other.” They both smiled at each other and talked about a lot of things enjoying each other's company.

“People say you’re unapproachable a lot of us were curious about you. But all the things they said were wrong you are kind and so friendly.” Penny commented. Iris was surprised when she said that the wolves at the university were intimidated towards her. All this time, she thought they hated her.

The train stopped the conductor announced that they have arrived at Alarick. Iris was nervous she does not know anyone in the capital city except for Penny. Hopefully, these wolves will behave towards her.

Both girls took a taxi together their destination towards the military camp. “I see we have a human over here. It’s an honor to meet one I never understood why rich people hated them no need to worry too much young girl. The middle-class is not that bad well, some of them.” The old driver has semi-bald white hair and a kind smile. Her nervousness slowly disappeared, maybe not all of them are bad.

We stopped in front of a tall building with a signboard that says ‘The Royal Military Camp.’ “Here is it our career will start right here, Iris. Good luck to us.” Penny said. We thanked the old man, and walked up to the building. Its exterior gives me school vibes but is more mature and strict.

“We’ll meet each other soon, break a leg, Iris!” Penny separated ways with her proceeding to the medical field line. Meanwhile, she went towards the military field, there were a lot of wolves who glanced at her, and some with a frown on their faces.

She can hear the whispers of ‘a human’ and ‘what is a human doing here.’ Those typical lines apparently, Iris is used to them now. The woman at the front desk handling the military field scrunched her nose and immediately grabbed her application paper. No words were exchanged between them as if she wanted to get it done as soon as possible.

After processing her papers, she was led to an open-space area where military applicants wait for further instructions. “Did I smell a human in this place?” A woman with a boyish haircut walked towards her. Other wolves snickered, excited to see what will happen to her.

She grabbed the collar of my white shirt and glared at me. “Get out of here weakling. The military is no place for a brat like you!” and she released the hold on my shirt making me almost lose my balance.

An officer approached us checking out the commotion. Huh? Why is there a human among the applicants this must be banned right away! “Hello I am officer Calix as a military officer, I’m sorry but have to ban you from this place. There is no future for you here now scram!” He shouted at her.

Iris is as tough as a brick and stood there not minding their words. “You’re just an officer your rank is lower than I expected. I won’t leave if your boss isn’t here to kick me out.” She smirked at him. Fury and rage danced within the officer's eyes.

“Don’t test me, weakling.” He whispered harshly. Another man approached them this time it seems he has tons of medals sticking on his military uniform.

“Commander Troy.” He saluted. “This human refused to follow orders and does not want to leave the premises. I request that she will be banned from joining the military army.” The man smirked at me, thinking he won.

“Interesting…a human? What is the system thinking bringing her here? Did you shag up to a rich man so you can enter a werewolf’s den?” The applicants laughed and insulted Iris. Their words seemed painful, but she toughened up. Those warnings regarding the harsh reality of the military were no joke but there was no turning back. She’s here to stay no matter what.

“Back off, Commander Troy. Don't you dare insult the great general Edin Benver? He brought her here not some rich man.” A brunette-haired girl stood up for her. She was too pretty to join a military she could even pass for a model.

"Marissa, just because you're his sister doesn't mean you have the authority over us!"

“What is going on here?” The deep voice caught everyone’s attention and they bowed down to him. The girl pulled me down to follow through and making me bow.

“Alpha Eris, these officers were harassing one of the applicants. They have also ruined the Military order by deciding without the higher-up's knowledge.” The girl beside her replied. He’s the Alpha? The man nodded and everyone rose from their position.

His smile turned into a lopsided grin. Those eyes held interest and curiosity her eyes widened upon realizing that it was the man back in the cafe.

"Didn't I say I will be seeing you soon? My little human." He whispered to her ear.
