“Mrs Sean”

the nurse called out, Elena stood up quickly to assist Mrs Sean up, raising her hand she signalled to the nurse.

Elena had always been the one taking Mrs Sean for her monthly check up at the hospital where they monitor her blood pressure level.

“We’re here"

she said, the nurse pointed to the doctor’s office and Elena held Mrs Sean as they walked towards the doctor’s office, the strong smell of medicine that always seems to linger in the hospital hits her nose and she twitched her nose, glancing at the old watch on her wrist and shook her head, pressing her thin lip together she hoped they could get through this check up quickly, she hates the hospital smell and she was late for work.

After the check up Elena dropped the Mrs Sean back at her house, she didn’t stop to look around or check for Ethan she dashed to the door and ran as fast as she could to the taxi waiting.

“Lingdon Street, number twenty"

she said to the driver looking out the window, her brows furrowed, her stomach grumbled and she used her palm to massage her tummy,

“Behave"

she mumbled to her tummy, looking out the window she saw how slow the driver was driving.

“Can you go faster please, am late for work"

The driver looked at Elena from his mirror and smiled kindly

“Miss, it’s better to get there late than to be late cause of accident and over speeding right"

It took Elena a few seconds before she grasp the meaning of what he was saying, she nodded her head and said noting more but the nervous feeling at the pit of her stomach didn’t ease up, she was in for another odd task for missing out on the morning training, the only thing that has kept her at Spywick till now is her natural talent, soon she arrived at the office and realised the morning training session was over just as she as guessed.

“Looks like I missed it again today”

she said to herself as she turned back going towards the kitchenette her tummy hasn’t stopped grumbling since and she was hoping for a cup of coffee to go along with the snack she had snuck into her bag this morning. However as she was about opening the door she heard Clarissa's voice, which made her pause as heard her name.

“You know I was curious about Elena’s boyfriend so I followed him sometime ago and guess what I found out" Clarissa said in an overly excited voice.

“what did you find" the other lady whom Elena guessed should be Linda, Clarissa's follower asked

“The guy is a cheat, he’s just using her, pathetic right, and I thought she has something I don’t, who would want a cheating boyfriend"

she heard Clarissa scoff and Elena gasped, quickly covering her mouth not wanting them to know she was there, she suddenly seems to have lost her appetite, she rested her back on the wall for fear of falling, until she regained a bit of her strength and she ran to the toilet, locking herself inside she looked at herself in the mirror, her red hair was pulled back in a ponytail, her blue eyes looked glassy as tears gathered there, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand, she pointed to herself and said

“Ethan can’t possibly be cheating on me, I trust him and have done so much for him, no"

she said shaking her head

“he won’t do that to me, he loves me"

she said this words hoping to convince herself of Ethan Sean’s love for her but Clarissa’s words kept ringing in her head but she didn’t feel any pain in her head only her heart hurts at the thought it all, placing her palm on her chest she tried to control her heart beat, trying to calm herself down, breathing in and out but nothing seems to work, the more she tried to calm down the more worked up she got, she walked out of the toilet after some time and sat dejected on a chair in the office, the general office were most of the junior staffs stay before they get their task appointment for the day or for the month depending on how long each task takes, thinking of what to do, she heard the door open and saw Clarissa and Linda walked in, Clarissa looked at Elena, a small smile appearing at the corner of her mouth as she said in an exceptionally loud voice so Elena could hear her properly.

“Linda let’s go for our task cause unlike some people we have work to do”

Elena looked at Clarissa, her eyes turning sharp immediately as she said

“of course, you always have work to do and even if you don’t, gossiping is also available right"

Clarissa squinted her eyes and walked towards Elena, towering over her, Elena was of average height while Clarissa had a few inch above her .

“Do you know how much I hate this blunt honesty of yours, huh"

Clarissa scoffed standing right in front of Elena

“But I think it’s also to my advantage because important tasks will never be given to you as no one wants someone who can’t lie once in a while to protect their secrets"

Elena eyes grew dull, she couldn’t deny the fact that she had not been given any important task and most of the odd tasks goes to her.

Clarissa didn’t wait for Elena to respond she flaunt her blonde hair and walked out the door with Linda running after her.

Elena sat on the chair for some time thinking about what she overheard, she didn’t think much about what Clarissa just said, she assumed she wasn’t getting important task cause if her lateness to work, deciding on what to do she picked up her bag and was about walking out when Mr Jem appeared at the doorway.

“Elena Morris, when will you ever keep to time, do you care about your growth here at all"

Mr Jem asked, his slender finger pointed at Elena who pursed her lip and couldn’t raise her eyes to meet that of Mr Jem, he had been the one that recruited her and she felt bad for disappointing him.

“Am sorry Mr Jem, I’ll do better I promise"

Elena said quietly

Mr Jem shook his head and said

“Well, you’re on clean up duty since you have no task at hand"

“Okay sir"

Elena said but didn’t dare to look up

“well get to it then"

Mr Jem said making Her snap out of her thoughts, she rushed out dropping her bag.

Elena hated the clean up duty, especially the part where she had to clean the men’s toilet, that place usually stink so bad that most people avoid cleaning it when they’re on cleaning duty but Elena was a loyal person who doesn’t like lying so she had no choice but to clean it, she got herself a nose mask and charged into the men’s toilet but the smell stinks like a skunk and she could still perceive it, having no option she got to work quickly.
