The atmosphere inside the courtyard of the Sterling Villa was electric with tension.

Two sleek black government sedans with dark-tinted windows pulled up to the stone driveway. Four official-looking men dressed in dark suits carrying federal badges stepped out, led by a sharp-faced middle-aged man holding a red leather dossier.

It was Inspector Vance-aligned Agent Harris from the Capital Child Protection Services.

"Under the emergency directive issued by the High Capital Court," Agent Harris announced in a cold, monotone voice as Mark stepped forward to block them, "we are authorized to conduct an immediate inspection of the living conditions, emotional state, and physical safety of the minors, Leo Sterling and Chloe Sterling."

Mark crossed his arms, his massive frame completely blocking the front door. "You're five minutes away from getting your credentials revoked, Agent Harris. This is private property."

"If you obstruct a federal officer, Mr. Mark," Harris smirked, holding up the signed judicial order, "we will immediately declare the mother uncooperative and remove the children into temporary state custody right now."

"They won't be removing anyone," Victoria’s smooth, icy voice echoed from the main entrance.

She stepped out onto the marble porch, flanked by Ethan. Victoria wore her signature power suit, her eyes glowing with absolute authority. Ethan walked right beside her, his tall, imposing presence casting a long shadow over the four federal inspectors.

Agent Harris gasped slightly when he saw Ethan standing next to Victoria. He hesitated, adjusting his tie nervously. "President... President Vance? What are you doing here? Your grandfather's legal team informed us—"

"My grandfather doesn't run the federal government, Harris," Ethan interrupted, his deep voice carrying a terrifying, rumbling threat. "And if you step one foot closer to my children without my express consent, I will ensure your agency is audited down to its last penny by nightfall."

Harris swallowed hard, sweating under Ethan's intense gaze, but he clutched the red dossier tightly. "President Vance, with all due respect, the court order bears the seal of Senior Judge Miller. We must verify the children's condition. The media reports claiming Miss Sterling has a history of mental instability—"

"Are complete fabrications," a tiny, crisp voice rang out from behind Victoria.

Four-year-old Leo stepped onto the porch. He was wearing a tiny, perfectly tailored charcoal-grey suit with a miniature silk tie, holding a high-end tablet under his arm. Right beside him was Chloe, wearing a cute pink dress, holding a giant teddy bear in one hand and a half-eaten strawberry popsicle in the other.

Chloe looked up at Agent Harris with huge, tear-filled, innocent eyes. "Mister... are you here to take us away from Mommy?"

Agent Harris blinked, caught completely off guard by the sheer cuteness and immaculate appearance of the two children. "Uh... little girl, we are just here to make sure you are safe—"

"Mommy gives us warm milk every night and reads us bedtime stories!" Chloe sniffled softly, hugging her teddy bear tight and hiding behind Ethan’s leg. She grabbed the edge of Ethan's suit jacket, looking up at him with pitiful eyes. "Daddy, don't let the scary man take us!"

Ethan’s heart instantly melted into a puddle, replaced by a sudden, intense surge of protective fatherly instincts. He immediately reached down, scooping Chloe up into his strong arms and holding her close against his chest.

"Nobody is taking you anywhere, sweetheart," Ethan whispered softly into her hair, before glaring down at Agent Harris like a ravenous beast. "You heard her, Harris."

Meanwhile, Leo casually tapped his tablet screen three times.

*Beep.*

Suddenly, the smartphones inside the pockets of all four federal officers rang in perfect unison.

Agent Harris pulled out his phone, his face draining of all color as he looked at the screen. A high-priority notification from the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Judicial Ethics popped up on his screen, displaying a complete, unedited ledger of Harris's private offshore bank account in the Cayman Islands.

Underneath the numbers was a simple text line: *[Transfer received: $150,000 from Samuel Vance's personal account, 48 hours ago. Status: Archived for Public Release.]*

Harris's hands began to tremble violently. He looked up from his phone, staring at four-year-old Leo in absolute horror.

Leo adjusted his miniature cuffs, giving Agent Harris a sweet, innocent child's smile. "Inspector Harris, did you know that accepting a financial bribe from a petitioner during an active family custody case carries a mandatory sentence of twelve years in federal prison? I just took the liberty of CCing your bank statements to the Attorney General's office."

"You... you..." Harris stuttered, unable to form a coherent sentence. His knees buckled slightly.

"I suggest you take your court order," Victoria said, stepping forward with a cold, regal stance, "and crawl back to Samuel Vance. Tell him that if he wants to see my children, he can look at them from across the courtroom floor tomorrow morning at ten."

Agent Harris didn't say another word. He turned around, practically sprinting back to his sedan, frantically signaling his officers to fall back. Within thirty seconds, the two government cars sped away from the villa, leaving behind a cloud of dust.

Silence returned to the courtyard.

Ethan was still holding Chloe, who was now happily eating her strawberry popsicle while leaning comfortably against her father's shoulder. Ethan looked down at Leo, then across at Victoria, a mixture of awe and profound pride shining in his eyes.

"Your kids are absolute geniuses," Ethan murmured, his lips curving into a rare, genuine smile.

"They get their intelligence from me," Victoria replied coolly, though her lips twitched slightly with hidden amusement. "And their ruthlessness from you."

Chloe giggled, patting Ethan’s cheek with her sticky hand. "Daddy's suit is comfy. Can we keep him, Mommy?"

Victoria turned toward the door, ignoring the question completely. "Pack your bags, kids. Our private convoy leaves for the Capital High Court in one hour."

***

The Next Morning, 9:45 AM. Capital High Court.

The steps leading up to the massive white marble pillars of the Capital High Court were completely mobbed by hundreds of journalists, news vans, and flashing cameras. The entire nation was tuned into the live broadcast of *The Vance Family Legacy vs. Victoria Sterling*.

Inside the grand courtroom, Patriarch Samuel Vance sat at the plaintiff table, leaning heavily on his silver cane. He was surrounded by a team of ten top-tier capital defense attorneys. Despite his advanced age, his eyes were sharp, cold, and confident. He had spent fifty years controlling this city; he was certain no young woman could beat him in his own courtroom.

The heavy doors at the back of the courtroom swung open.

A wave of gasps swept through the gallery.

Victoria walked down the center aisle, looking radiant, formidable, and utterly fearless in a striking crimson suit.

Walking beside her was Ethan Vance.

And walking right between them, holding Victoria's hand on one side and Ethan's on the other, were Leo and Chloe.

Samuel Vance’s eyes narrowed into slits as he watched his grandson—the rightful heir to the Vance corporate throne—walking hand-in-hand with the woman he had tried to destroy, standing united against the family estate.

The presiding judge, Senior Judge Miller, slammed his gavel down onto the wooden block with a loud *BANG!*

"Order in the court!" Judge Miller barked, looking over his glasses at the assembled parties. "We are here today to hear the emergency petition filed by Patriarch Samuel Vance regarding the bloodline custody and legal guardianship of the minors, Leo and Chloe Vance-Sterling."

Samuel Vance's lead attorney stood up immediately, bowing respectfully. "Your Honor, as presented in our evidence file, Miss Victoria Sterling possesses a documented history of severe psychological instability following her divorce five years ago. For the safety, emotional well-being, and proper upbringing of the Vance family heirs, we petition the court for immediate full custody to be transferred to the patriarch."

"Lies!" Ethan’s deep voice boomed across the silent courtroom as he stood up, his tall figure commanding the entire room. "Your Honor, those medical records are forged."

Samuel Vance let out a raspy, dry laugh, tapping his cane on the floor. "Ethan, my boy... you are being manipulated by a vengeful woman. What proof do you have that those records are forged?"

Victoria didn't say a word. She simply looked down at Leo and gave a soft nod.

Four-year-old Leo stepped away from the table, walking calmly up to the central evidence podium. He pulled out a small black flash drive, plugged it directly into the court's master projection system, and hit *Enter*.

Above the judge's bench, a massive seventy-inch screen lit up, displaying a live, high-definition digital breakdown of the leaked medical files.

"Your Honor," Leo’s calm, childish voice echoed through the courtroom speakers, perfectly clear and chillingly precise. "Allow me to introduce Exhibit A: The digital metadata of my mother's fake hospital record."

The luxury Maybach glided smoothly through the capital's evening traffic, its dark-tinted windows shielding its passengers from the lingering flashbulbs of media crews outside. Inside the quiet leather interior, the air felt heavy. Chloe had already fallen fast asleep on Ethan’s lap, her small hand loosely curled around the lapel of his tailored jacket. Ethan sat remarkably still, barely daring to shift his weight for fear of waking her. His gaze remained soft as he looked down at his daughter, before quietly turning his eyes toward Victoria.Victoria was staring out the window, watching the neon city lights bleed across the glass. But her posture was rigid. "Leo," Victoria said smoothly, breaking the silence without turning her head. "Show me the message again."Leo tapped his tablet screen, projecting a holographic mirror display onto the leather panel between the front seats. The encrypted text flashed in sharp white letters:*[The old man was just the distraction. The Sterling

The courtroom fell into an absolute, breathless hush. Every eye in the gallery—along with millions of viewers watching the live stream across the country—was glued to the massive seventy-inch screen hanging above Judge Miller's bench. On the screen, four-year-old Leo had expanded the metadata logs of the leaked psychiatric reports. Bright red highlights lined the digital code, flashing line by line."As you can see on line forty-two of the file structure," Leo explained, his tiny voice surprisingly steady as he pointed a laser pointer at the monitor, "the PDF document was generated three weeks after my mother had already departed North City five years ago. Furthermore, the electronic signature attributed to Dr. Harrison of Capital General Hospital was created using an administrative software key registered directly to Vance Manor's primary server network."A loud collective gasp erupted across the gallery. Reporters scrambled to take notes, their camera shutters clicking furiously.

The shadow of the capital city stretched long and thin over the tarmac as Victoria’s private jet touched down. Inside the primary suite of the plane, Victoria sat in a velvet armchair, nursing a cup of black tea while reviewing the legal briefing for Friday’s hearing. Across from her, Ethan sat on the leather bench, his laptop open, his fingers typing furiously as he dispatched his private intelligence teams across the capital. For the first time in five years, they were sharing a space without screaming, but the silence between them was thick, heavy, and pregnant with unspoken tension.Suddenly, Mark stepped into the suite, his face pale and dark. He held a tablet in his hand, his eyes shifting nervously between Victoria and Ethan."Boss," Mark said, his voice unusually tense. "We have a major situation. Samuel Vance just fired his opening shot."Victoria didn't even raise her eyes from her documents. "What did the old man do?""Ten minutes ago, three major national media outlets p

The corridor of Vance Tower suddenly felt ice-cold. Victoria stopped dead in her tracks, her hand clenching the phone so tightly her knuckles turned pale. Great-Grandfather Vance—Patriarch Samuel Vance—was the true shadow ruler of the entire Vance dynasty. A ruthless, old-world traditionalist in his eighties, he cared about only one thing: the purity and continuation of the Vance bloodline. When Victoria was married to Ethan, Samuel Vance had treated her like a invisible ghost, completely ignoring her because of her modest background. Now that he knew about the twins, he was coming for them like a vulture."Leo," Victoria said, her voice dropping into a razor-sharp tone. "Is the perimeter secure?""Yes, Mommy," Leo replied calmly. "Mark has already doubled the security around the villa. But the legal documents attached to the crate are real. Great-Grandfather Vance filed an emergency petition with the High Capital Court under the Ancient Family Estate Act. If we ignore it, they will

The atmosphere on the eighty-eighth floor of Vance Tower was suffocating. Outside the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, the morning sky was still overcast, casting a gray shadow across the grand mahogany conference table. Inside, forty board members, chief officers, and major shareholders of Vance Enterprise sat in rigid silence. At the head of the table sat Ethan Vance. He had changed into a fresh navy suit, but the severe exhaustion beneath his sharp eyes was impossible to hide completely. His hands were clasped tightly in front of him on the table. To his right, a group of elderly board members led by Director Thomas—a long-time ally of the secondary Vance family branch—were whispering feverishly among themselves. "If this Sterling Group CEO decides not to sign today, our stock drops thirty percent by noon," Director Thomas grumbled loudly, casting a cold look at Ethan. "We shouldn't have relied on President Vance's personal connections. We should have prepared a backup acquisitio
