Chapter 23: The Substitute

“Evelyn, this is my temporary leave letter. Just like I've said before, my mother is seriously ill. And I really appreciate your offer to take a long break.” Scott handed the letter to Evelyn's desk, just as Evelyn sat down in her chair. Evelyn studied Scott's face a little longer today. Scott's face did look darker. Either tired from work or thinking about his mother. That made Evelyn's heart slightly touched. Scott is an incredibly hard worker.

“Scott, of course. Take all the time you need. No need to use this leave letter, you will still be paid as usual. While you're away, can you find me a temporary secretary who can hold your job? Then give me all your to-do lists. I need to arrange for the delegation of your duties to someone else.” Evelyn said as she threw the letter into the shredder.
