Brielle's POV

“What are you saying?” I asked, staring at Suzie as she continued laughing to her fill.

“She wanted to get caught, she wanted us to come here,” The priestess responded with a smile.

“I have lived this day over and over again but I never thought this path would lead to it,”

“What is it leading to?” Zane inquired curiously.

“Old lady, give meaning to your words,”

“My death, Prince Zane,” She answered.

“This is the part where I die and I have been expecting it for seventy years,”

Lucien's face turned red, his anger radiating from the chair he sat in.

“You bastard!” He pulled Rio from his chair and held him down to the table.

“Can't you hold on to your side of the deal for once in your miserable life,”

“I won't move an inch if I were you,” Zane held his dagger to Rio's guard throat.

“I didn't know,” Rio muttered softly as Lucien crushed his windpipe against the table.

“I … was t..trying to help,” He wheezed.

“Let him go,” I pulled Lucien off him.

“He is telling the truth. I don't know how I know but I do, he isn't lying this time,”

“Thank you,” Rio uttered as he groaned while feeling his bruised necks.

“The bitch obviously made me play into her hand,”

“Father called for this dinner and he will be here soon,” Suzie said, catching all of our attention.

“The brothers will pay for stealing from him, the freak alpha will either bend the knee or die by his hand, the runaway will beg to be enslaved. That is the decree,”

“Well I have another decree for you,” The priestess got closer to her.

“You were an abomination, a sick turn of power that shouldn't be in the land. Yet, you existed none the less,”

The impact of the Priestess words was noticed by the reaction on Suzie's face. The smile she had vanished, the childish gaze turned into something fierce.

“I will not feel sorry for my existence,” Sulhe spoke with a voice different from the one she had been using. This one was intense and filled with tremor.

“I came to the world to balance an equation that was imbalanced because of your kind. Priestesses who think they are the hands of the goddess,”

“We are the goddess's hands indeed but sometimes, our kind mistake our voices for her own. That's what came about your creation,” The Priestess responded as she stood a seat close to Suzie.

“The Priestess, Rao brought you to the world with the wrong magic. That's why your humanity isn't there,”

“Who needs it?” Suzie asked with a smile.

“Why live like a slave if you can rule like a god?”

“What happened to your pack, Suzie?” Lucien asked as he advanced towards her.

“What did you do to your people?”

“They made me weak, Lucien,” she answered swiftly. A smile danced in her lips as she elaborated on her response.

“I couldn't lead a pack of worthlessness weaklings that couldn't see the day after the next,”

“You killed them?” Rio asked with a shocked look.

“You killed your tribe, your kin, the people you were charged to protect. How do you live with yourself?”

“You walk like a child but instead you kill children,” I said. Her gaze turned to me, her mysterious gaze made it unsettling for me to look at her.

“She doesn't have the leverage of emotions,” The priestess pointed out as she picked up a knife from the dining tray.

“And that is what I need,”

She gently made a cut on her palm and placed the bloody hand on Suzie's forehead.

“You think your magic would work on me?” She growled angrily with a distorted voice. It was like a thousand voices embedded into one.

“I am hell,”

“Well, let's visit hell,” The priestess responded with a smile. Suddenly a wind blew into the dining room, shaking everything around us. In an instant, all three of them froze.

Suzie, the priestess and Zane froze. They didn't speak, move nor blink, just frozen.

Rio gasped when he touched Zane's arm.

“They are trapped in some sort of vortex, they are taking care of needed business,” He said.

“In the meantime, we should get ready for your guest,” Lucien voiced as he pulled out his phone.

“I'm calling my squad to meet us here. Prepare your people as well,”

“Okay,” Rio left the room with his guard. Lucien removed the top two buttons of his shirt as he made a call.

I thought about what Rio did as I stared at the three frozen beings. How he could enter minds, detect moves, all the powers he got from my mother. I wondered if I had such at all or was I also affected by her suppressed magic.

I held Zane’s hand, took a deep breath and shut my eyes for some uncomfortable seconds. I hoped to feel something, get something but I got nothing. His hand was cold and all I could hear was the sound of his heart beat, racing.

I walked to the priestess and held her other hand and the same thing happened, nothing. The only thing I felt was the irritation of holding her frail sticky palm.

“Nice,” I sighed and was about to walk away when I heard a gentle whisper. The voices caught my attention, causing me to examine the source. I could hear it coming from Suzie but her mouth was shut. It was the whispers of so many people and I could tell they were in pain.

“What is that?” I asked as I drew closer. My hand moved on instinct, approaching the blood dripping from the Priestess’ hand on Suzie's forehead. It was strange because I could feel that the voices were coming from the blood.

“Brielle?” I heard Rio's voice but I was too intrigued to back off. It was like a cast net that had trapped my attention and I couldn't stop myself from getting pulled in.

“Stop!” He yelled but by that time, my fingers had touched the blood.

A loud ringing sound buzzed in my ear, the moment I made contact. The room turned dark and the atmosphere became cold with the stench of blood.

“Hello,” I voiced in the darkness. I couldn't see anything nor feel anything.

“Come over here,” Zane's voice instructed. The voice echoed around me and I couldn't tell where it was coming from.

“Brielle, she is behind you. Come here,”

“Zane!” I took off towards a direction with no idea where I was heading.

“Zane, where are you?”

“Can't you see me, Brielle?” A voice responded, one that had a weird feeling to it. It was like a distorted version of Zane’s voice and the creepier aspect that it was coming directly behind me.

I turned around slowly and it was the shape of a darkness. From the face and height, I knew it was Suzie.

“I will enjoy devouring your mind,”

Third Person's POV Everything felt cold, her mind sunk into the darkness and gradually got pulled into a strange void. An occurrence that caused her to gasp suddenly and jolt awake. Brielle woke up in a room, on a bed. She looked around in confusion and fright and realized it was her old room, the one back home in Crescent. She had almost forgotten how it was. “How?” She asked herself, looking around again curiously. She tried flashing back to what she remembered last but it felt blank to her. She remembered being stabbed by a lady called Angelina but it felt like a dream to her. “Sweetheart,” someone pushed open the room's door. She cowered backwards when he stepped in. It was like seeing a ghost and he was a ghost. “Brielle, are you okay? You seem frightened, honey? Is it the nightmares again?” “Dad,” she exhaled heavily, her heart thumping against her chest as she drew closer to her father. “How…how is this possible?” “How is what?” Her dad asked with a perplexed look. “I

Lucien's POV “You fight like a little boy,” Chase remarked as he crushed my windpipe with his boot. I was only able to take down two alphas before they brought me down. I could hear Rio grunting from a distance as he fought against the alpha from the north. The man fought like a beast, moved like a predator stalking its prey. He took Rio by surprise, faster than his size. “I never liked you, Lucien. I told your sister that you are nothing to me and she tried to make your existence somewhat meaningful,” He spoke with pride in his voice as he applied more force on the boot that was against my throat. “Y…you are going to die for that,” I wheezed. The air in my lungs slowly went out but I knew I had to keep fighting, I had to keep Brielle safe, I had to keep my brother safe. It was my responsibility. “I would love to s__” That was the point of his sentence that I heard. My eyes became instantly filled with a buzzing sound that disoriented my entire system. My hands shivered tremendo

Brielle's POV“Where are they?” I asked her. She stood still and slowly, the darkness around began to clear up. It was sucked into a vortex above. That was when I realized that I was in a room with chains and weapons around. “Brielle,* Zane called out behind me. I ran into his arms as he stood by the edge of the room with the Priestess. “How did you get in here?” The priestess asked. “She heard the voices,” Suzie responded as she gently changed into a new pair of shoes. “She could hear the voices of the damned. Maybe because she is part of the damned,” “What is she talking about?” I was curious to know. The look on the priestess face made it scarier to want to know. “Only few people are allowed to hear the other side, listen to what they say, the story they have to say. We call them Whisperers,” The priestess explained as she took a seat next to the fireplace. Her old raggy clothes couldn't hide the fear she felt. “Do you want to tell her?” Suzie referred to the Priestess. “D

Lucien's POV.“I need them here as soon as possible,” I said to the squad leader on the phone. “And General, stay safe,” “Brielle! Damn it!” Rio's voice caught my attention. It was coming from.the dining chambers. I hurried in to meet his hand on her, she was looking almost lifeless. “Rio!” I growled and pulled him away from her. “What the fuck did you do to her?” I held her hand and it was cold as ice. She was mumbling words that I couldn't understand, saying them on repeat as she was glued to the spot she stood. I couldn't move her, it was like moving an unmovable pillar. “She's sucked into wherever they are,” Rio replied as he examined her beside me. “I saw her got called by it. She was drawn to it, they wanted her in there,” “Who is they? You keep saying they, I didn't even know who THEY are,” I retorted. I was falling deeper into the confusion with each glance. I had no idea what to do because both my brother and the priestess that could help were both trapped in wherever

  • The Contract Luna's Salvation    Chapter Fifty Five

Brielle's POVThe drive to the pack there brought memories, one that I spent an awful lot of days putting behind me. I remembered him forcing himself in on me, the look on his face as he tried to take me and the revolting thrill that came from it. “Enough,” The priestess voiced disrupted my thoughts. She sat beside me in the back passenger seat. “Listening to your mind whisper such toxic words is distracting. I am trying to prepare for a spell that might finally kill me,” “Thank you for coming with us,” I said, trying not to look into her old pale eyes. Their slit shape like a cat always spooked me. “Your mother won't allow me to do the opposite,” She replied. My attention was triggered and so was that of Zane and Lucien that were seated up front. “You knew her mother?” Lucien asked, staring at her from the rear view. “Her mother knew me,” she answered with a deep sigh. “She wanted to escape all of these issues, the power struggle that you are now trapped in. She wanted peace,
