LOGINLucien's POV
“Where is she?” No one could answer my question. Law enforcement had begun going through security footage and interrogating hospital personnel and staff. “I'm sorry brother,” Zane approached me. “I should have known something was wrong. I thought maybe she needed space and I didn't see what was coming next,” I exhaled deeply, letting out the frustration through my breath. “No, it's no one's fault. We are going to get her back,” “Chase might already have her,” He stated the fear that was clearly on both our minds. I suspected it might be him but I remained optimistic, hoping for the best. “Then I will get her back,” I responded. My expression was as cold as the chills that ran through my veins. “I don't care about who but I am certain that I'm not going to let her be anyone's captive. Are you, brother?” The anger in his eyes was visible and he was still going through a lot of pain from his injuries. But that wouldn't stop him, “I will die before I let anything happen to her,” He said in a deep, clear voice. “Thank you brother,” I muttered, emotion stirred within me at the moment. “Alpha Lucien,” The detective approached us, disrupting our talk. “I'm sorry for interrupting but I think you need to see this,” We took a look at the pieces of clothing in the evidence bag. It looked like a part of a cloak, but I couldn't get a good reading from it. “Where was it found?” “In the driveway. It's from one of the tracks that left within the last hour and the plate isn't registered yet,” She replied as she sent a signal to the other officer to box the evidence. “Wait,” Angelina called out weakly. “I know that sign on the cloth,” That was the moment I noticed a star stripe on it. It was almost covered in mud and from the look on her face, she was terrified of what the mark reminded her of. “The man who tortured me had that same symbol on his outfit,” She muttered, trembling while she spoke. Her gaze and eyes moved around the room in fright, reacting to every sound and movement. “Angelina,” I held on to her as she staggered backwards to the wall. There was fear in her eyes and her hands trembled as they clinged on to me. “Take deep breaths. They can't have you anymore, you are with me,” “I will take her to her room,” A nurse took her from my arm. “Please… no, don't leave me,” She acted out, pulling the nurse's hands off her. “I don't want to be left alone please. They might come,” “We need to go get her, Angelina,” Zane said to her. He didn't even try to hide the impatient look on his face. “We don't have time. The doctors and cops would watch you,” “My detectives and hound men are out looking for her,” The officer said to Zane. “And if you can't find her? Can you bet it on your job?” He retorted with a grin that intimidated the officer. “Zane, back off a little,” I said. “Angelina, you will be fine. I will make sure there are elite guard around the hospital, noone will get to you,” “I will take it from here,” The nurse received her from me. I was turning away when her sudden grip halted my movement. “Angelina for God's sake!” Zane blurted impatiently. “The sooner you eat him go, the sooner he gets back to babysitting you. Lucien we have to leave, now!” “Be prepared Lucien, take him down the instant you get the chance,” She said to me, her words were not as heavy as the look she had while speaking them. “Let's go,” Zane pulled me away as my thought traveled into the distance. ******* “Why are we in this abandoned frat?” Zane asked as we alighted the car. “Brother, we don’t have time for shopping,” “Relax, reduce your damn voice,” I whispered. “They pulled a footage of the truck coming to this direction. And that is the vehicle,” I pointed at the car parked in the abandoned warehouse. “Why didn't you tell me on the way?” He asked. His question came to me like one of his prank moments. “Are you kidding me?” I responded. “Zane, we talked about it in the car. You answered the call from the inspector.” The look on his face showed that he was in awe by what I was saying. “Are you good, brother ?” “I…” His words got interrupted by rustling from the woods by the entrance of the company. “Flank them, go round,” Zane muttered softly as he moved covertly towards the sound. I went around it, coming from the other direction. As I drew closer, I got her scent but something was off. I didn't sense her to be in any danger, instead I got the feeling like she was curious about something. I hastened my pace to get a better coverage. “Evidence is needed, we can't say a word without evidence,” I heard Brielle speak. “I'm working on it!” The mansyvoice thundered and suddenly my hastened paces jolted into a full sprint on all fours. I raced through the fields towards the noise. I growled and roared, my instinct on point to defend. I pounced out and the first thing my gaze fell on was her. Her eyes widened in surprise but I could no longer control my movement. I crashed into the man that was beside her. I managed to avoid the machete in his hand as we rolled down the slope. “Lucien!” Brielle's called. “It's not what…” The sound of someone choking cut her off. I turned my focus to the man who had a knife sticking out of his neck. “Romero!” Brielle shrieked loudly as she hurried to catch him before he collapsed. Zane stood behind the body with the bloody knife in his hand and a look that terrified me. “Brother, what did…” “Angelina told you not to hesitate,” He shot back sharply. “I was doing what you were supposed to do,” “He was trying to find the killer! He is not the one responsible!” Brielle broke out in pain. “You killed the wrong man, Zane,” She cried bitterly as she held the corpse in his hand. “You don't know that, he kidnapped you,” Zane said to her. “I saved your lives,” “Zane, he wasnt even armed when you killed him,” I pointed out. “Lucien the butcher is lecturing me about kills? Sonia okay when you kill but not when I do?” His words seemed different and off. He appeared like a whole different being. “Zane, something is going on,” “Yes, I saved your life. You are welcome,” He replied before walking away leaving me buried in confusion as I watched Brielle break down with the lifeless body in her arms.Epilogue Third Person's POV “How are you holding up?” Rio asked Brielle after the council of Alpha that was held in the Eclipse pack. Brielle decided not to attend the meeting because it felt like torture to be around people at the time. “Fine, everyday, a new process and new method of looking forward,” She responded with a smile. Rio's face was covered in slash scars that were still healing. “It's been weeks but I can still feel the tension,” he confessed as he laid his back against a post. “Crescent pack has begun a democratic form of leadership that will be overseen by Eclipse and the Blue Moon. As from now on, they will elect their own leaders,” “You know soon, this method will spread across other packs,” I pointed out. “Looking forward to it,” he replied with a grin. “It surely beats being born into a responsibility you didn't ask for,” “True,” Brielle reacted. “Everything is going fine, I'm free but yet I don't feel free,” He walked to her side and exhaled heavily. “
Brielle's POV“You think anger adds to strength, it doesn't,” Chase's wolf said. I was spooked when I heard it speak, it wasn't possible for a wolf to speak but I knew Chase wasn't a normal alpha like the rest. He had his paws in Lucien, crushing him to the floor. Rio and Zane were holding the rest of the alphas back and Angelina stood by the corner. She was the first one to notice me. “Why are you doing this?” I asked him. They were all shocked to see me on my feet. I held the dagger I had pulled out of my back and a sudden relief came over me. “Impossible,” Chase remarked. “You won't just die,” “No!” Angelina roared. Lucien transformed back and hurried to me. His body was scarred with claw marks and slashes. “How? Where? What's going on?” He was surprised to see me. His hands couldn't let go of mine as tears escaped his eyes. “I'm sorry, I should have protected you,” “I'm here now and we have a job to finish,” I said to him as I wiped his tears. “It's strange seeing you cry
Third Person's POV Everything felt cold, her mind sunk into the darkness and gradually got pulled into a strange void. An occurrence that caused her to gasp suddenly and jolt awake. Brielle woke up in a room, on a bed. She looked around in confusion and fright and realized it was her old room, the one back home in Crescent. She had almost forgotten how it was. “How?” She asked herself, looking around again curiously. She tried flashing back to what she remembered last but it felt blank to her. She remembered being stabbed by a lady called Angelina but it felt like a dream to her. “Sweetheart,” someone pushed open the room's door. She cowered backwards when he stepped in. It was like seeing a ghost and he was a ghost. “Brielle, are you okay? You seem frightened, honey? Is it the nightmares again?” “Dad,” she exhaled heavily, her heart thumping against her chest as she drew closer to her father. “How…how is this possible?” “How is what?” Her dad asked with a perplexed look. “I
Lucien's POV “You fight like a little boy,” Chase remarked as he crushed my windpipe with his boot. I was only able to take down two alphas before they brought me down. I could hear Rio grunting from a distance as he fought against the alpha from the north. The man fought like a beast, moved like a predator stalking its prey. He took Rio by surprise, faster than his size. “I never liked you, Lucien. I told your sister that you are nothing to me and she tried to make your existence somewhat meaningful,” He spoke with pride in his voice as he applied more force on the boot that was against my throat. “Y…you are going to die for that,” I wheezed. The air in my lungs slowly went out but I knew I had to keep fighting, I had to keep Brielle safe, I had to keep my brother safe. It was my responsibility. “I would love to s__” That was the point of his sentence that I heard. My eyes became instantly filled with a buzzing sound that disoriented my entire system. My hands shivered tremendo
Brielle's POV“Where are they?” I asked her. She stood still and slowly, the darkness around began to clear up. It was sucked into a vortex above. That was when I realized that I was in a room with chains and weapons around. “Brielle,* Zane called out behind me. I ran into his arms as he stood by the edge of the room with the Priestess. “How did you get in here?” The priestess asked. “She heard the voices,” Suzie responded as she gently changed into a new pair of shoes. “She could hear the voices of the damned. Maybe because she is part of the damned,” “What is she talking about?” I was curious to know. The look on the priestess face made it scarier to want to know. “Only few people are allowed to hear the other side, listen to what they say, the story they have to say. We call them Whisperers,” The priestess explained as she took a seat next to the fireplace. Her old raggy clothes couldn't hide the fear she felt. “Do you want to tell her?” Suzie referred to the Priestess. “D
Lucien's POV.“I need them here as soon as possible,” I said to the squad leader on the phone. “And General, stay safe,” “Brielle! Damn it!” Rio's voice caught my attention. It was coming from.the dining chambers. I hurried in to meet his hand on her, she was looking almost lifeless. “Rio!” I growled and pulled him away from her. “What the fuck did you do to her?” I held her hand and it was cold as ice. She was mumbling words that I couldn't understand, saying them on repeat as she was glued to the spot she stood. I couldn't move her, it was like moving an unmovable pillar. “She's sucked into wherever they are,” Rio replied as he examined her beside me. “I saw her got called by it. She was drawn to it, they wanted her in there,” “Who is they? You keep saying they, I didn't even know who THEY are,” I retorted. I was falling deeper into the confusion with each glance. I had no idea what to do because both my brother and the priestess that could help were both trapped in wherever
